Party Down's two-season run was during the early days of Netflix getting its streaming platform up and running. I guess Netflix had a partnership with Starz(?) because the Party Down episodes would air simultaneously on Starz as well as Netflix each week. So in-between receiving, watching, then mailing back DVDs to Netflix, I was also watching Party Down as it aired. At the time, I had just finished Veronica Mars (via Netflix DVDs), and by chance saw that Party Down was Rob Thomas' new show, featuring an ensemble of very talented comedic actors. From Episode 1, I was hooked. It always bummed me out that most people I asked had never heard of the show, so I'm glad more people have come to appreciate it now.
That was about the same time I found it. I finished Veronica Mars on Netflix and unexpectedly loved it. I happened to see Party Down as a rec while looking g for something to watch. I didn’t know the cast except for Jane Lynch who I loved from the Christopher Guest movies. Between having her and being a Rob Thomas show, I gave it a try and was immediately hooked. I worked in Restaurants and entertainment so I could relate to a lot of also loved the underdog “almost, but not quite” vibes. Excellent cast and great writing. 11/10!

Might be the european in me or that i am not a parent, but having a tracker on an already 16 year old/young person seems a bit too intrusive in terms of privacy rights. I don't care if it is a parental instinct, the need for control, a genuin need to see that the child is alife and well, but the trajectory of the acceptance of such just doesn't seem right to me. Though i expect it has also to do with here in germany our younglings are considered young adults with 16, adults with 18 and fully responsible without excpetion after 21 from laws and rights point of view. From what i gathered sofar, more generally speaking the US seems more glib where it comes to the privacy rights of individuals, otherwise something like the NSA spying onto its own people or corporations having made US citziens a lot more transparent wouldn't be possible in the EU to the same extant. Then again depending EU nation there are other rights less on the side of the individual as it is in times in the US, so not all here is perfect either. Also that kind of behaviour seems to be part of that socalled helicoptor paranting phenomenon which i am also rather sceptical about, as the resulting childreen are said to be less autonomous/self-reliant.
It's a safety thing... Speeding aside, knowing where your child is important if they aren't answering their phone with the amount of mass shootings in the US. Concerts, movies, parades, malls, grocery stores, schools, night clubs... These are only some examples of places where shootings have occurred.
And we don't have the same transparency with laws in general because of corporate lobbing and lawmakers can hold stocks in companies that benefit from the laws they are proposing or voting on.
@@mariep9645 I generally get your point, but instead of removing the cause of the problem(too many guns and who is allowed to own then unregulated) you instead infringe on the privacy rights of your childreens and them therefor are getting used to that idear and it is embedded in cultural self-image which then results in more acceptance of survailance and such like. Again i can see why it is done, but the resulting trajectory is a bad one and the reasoning it is based on is an unsolved issue in the US. Especially the freedom loving constitutional and often paranoid right should be open to such an argument i would imagine where it comes to gun violence, where when not solved that then is the resulting privacy infringments resulting from that.

It's sickening and unfortunately this situation applies to more than just gun laws. I've spent time in Germany, I love it there and hope to go back. I felt safer walking home at 2am in Berlin than I've ever felt walking at night here. The environment is just different.
