Of course you can use sewing machine. Normally most of bag brands in the world use sewing machine. Just I sometimes work with hand for hobby and calming relax.

There's road called "Charoenrat" you can travel by BTS sky train to "Wongwianyai Station" Mon to Sat only.

For hand stitch I use waxed linen thread.
Piping is plastic tube (its come in about 50-100 meters)
For my piping I used the plastic cord that you use in your grass edge trimmer in Australia we call it whipper sniper cord.

And also piping you can use round leather, small rope, rubber tube. You might find something that can be adaptable at construction store.
