hi don this is such a wholesome video, with your wife martha commenting a bit as well. you seem like really friendly people. the watercolour is great too :) have a nice day!
Enjoyed this immensely! Makes me want to rush and pick up my brush! I wish they would bring you over for a workshop again🥰 A great aloha to Martha too.
Lovely tutorial and painting! I love your soft jewel pastel colors. I have a question though: Do you pre wet the paper before applying your initial washes or are the washes just that juicy so that they run like that on dry paper?
I've read over proportions of the human figure and painted some portraits, but have been loathe to put any full figures into a landscape. Your 10%/50%=60% leaves 40% demo is invaluable; it sunk right in. Great tip; many thanks. (P.s. I don't like being difficult, but just have to say that in watching the wash layers go on, I'm sure your hits would go up manifold amounts by having a picture of scene you're painting up in the left-hand corner, as you do with the palette mixing down below. This way, the learner can gain some idea of the direction you're taking us.) ☺
@@HeleneWheatfield0549 It is a very nice painting but the leg length is approximately 50% of total stature to achieve the biomechanical efficiency of the human striding bipedal gait.
I’ve been enjoying your beautiful colours and painting processes! Thank you for sharing your methods. I have a question, when you say “ granular wash” do you mean you use granulating paints? Or is it just your process of letting them run down the page wet in wet? Thank you 😊
I really enjoy watching you paint and your lighthearted commentary. You're so good, but you don't seem to take it too seriously. Love that! Thank you.

How did you know I was thinking of adding figures into my landscapes
Hi Bill,,, sometimes things work out! Hope you enjoyed the video! Friend Don
It appears you are painting mostly wet into wet. Do you wet the back of your paper?
Hi Zenfulpainter,,,I don't wet the back(but I know lots of artists who do) I just prewet each area before applying paint...hope this helps! Friend Don
What hake brush do you use?
@@roxannekeomaka4754 Hi again Roxanne,,,for figure work in landscapes I use mostly American Journey #10 round or 1/2 inch flat,,,,,friend Don

Hi Monkeylovenut,,,, it's the process of letting the pigment run down the page wet into wet!
