    I was once scammed. From that day on, I learned to ask the shipper who's the broker on the load. Once I found out that there was a different broker on the load. I allowed the load to get loaded, and then I called the original broker and got my price for the load. The scammer didn't make any money because I didn't send them the BOL when I got loaded.. You can catch the scam at the shipper if you find out who's the original broker. Section 7 on the bills holds the shipper liable for paying the driver if the shipper didn't sign in the box..(Section 7)

      @Plowguitarist ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It is not illegal to double broker if the shipper agrees to it. It’s only when a shipper specifies the carrier they are using must be exclusive. In other words, if Dailey express for example has a direct customer, and they tell the customer they don’t always have the capacity to cover it with a Dailey truck, and the customer agrees that Dailey can and knowingly will broker it out to say Landstar, or Admiral Merchants, then the act is NOT illegal. And this happens ALL the time. It’s when they have an exclusive customer that only wants their freight on that carriers truck, then double brokering becomes illegal. And there is no agency monitoring any of this nor could there be with millions of shipments being moved every day. Wether any of you are aware of it, you’ve ALL hauled double brokered freight many times. Scheinder has a brokerage, so does J B Hunt, TMC has a brokerage.etc etc etc. You have to be vigilant and do credit checks and try and deal with the same people or at least with some regularity and stay away from high MC #’s.

    Exactly!!!!!!! There’s one of 2 ways to go about getting the desired outcome. 1. When you call the broker and they either have no credit score listed or a very low score listed and your factoring company won’t approve them ask for a 50/50 pay split. Half up front when you get loaded at the shipper, then the remaining half once you ARRIVE at receiver but not before you’re empty. Gives them incentive to pay you if it hasn’t been unloaded yet. 2. If something seems fishy or skeptical about the broker when booking the load just very kindly and in a civilized manner ask the shipper when you’re checking in who is the broker for this load. If the brokers names don’t match then reach out to the broker the shipper provided you with and explain the situation and NEGOTIATE terms. In my opinion holding the load hostage doesn’t benefit you the carrier if you can’t get that product off your trailer.

That’s a pathetic business model and is destined for failure. The only way running under your own authority is if you have a good customer or customers you bill direct and only use broker freight to get back to your regular customer. Otherwise your way better off leasing to a stable carrier that has freight, does all your filings, pays you every week or after every load, and offers fuel discounts, tire discounts etc. It’s ridiculous to have your own authority with no idea what your gonna do tomorrow.

      I did happen to me also with Amazon load, I notified Amazon before I even delivered the load, I was advised by Amazon to deliver the load and Amazon will start investigating it, they started a case but it’s not going nowhere, there’s no one who could give me an answer
      Looks to me that Amazon is involved in this scam

    There is an old saying that is relevant today as it was 20 years ago when I started in Transportation. “If it is to good to be true, it is.” Now the market rates in lanes you are running and if people are posting rates close to twice what market is bearing and basically giving to you over phone or email without trying to talk you down, probably going to get scammed.

This is so sad. I physically went to the broker/ carriers office and he was shocked and try to say he was scammed but I think he was the scammer because he had a few mc#’s!

    The blame can be put on FMCSA There is no reason brokerages shouldn't go under the same scrutiny that US as independent's do. We go through so many new laws being thrown at us that we must obey or we get fined. It's passed time for broker's to be judged as well

    Trucking is the worst business you could ever get into !!! The cost of entry is too low! Any idiot with 5k down and no credit can get a truck. Most people have no business calling themselves a business . Too many people don’t know basic math they do t even research what’s the actual cost to run their business and the bottom line profit margins they get! I had 20 drivers and closed my business in march and switched to some😮totally different. The industry is taking advantage of all the individual truck owners and their is No government regulation for truck owner to keep them running profitable. Only government regulations there are is to put you out of business!

    Then they will start getting up out the chair and taking action to protect scams on freight.
    Take them to small claims court, or get a lawyer if you have enough scams on the plate.

    Before backing to unload
    And charge them an hourly rate if there is any on the brokers scheduling before dropping that load alway get your full pay at the end of your completion
    pay by credit or debit only no cash no checks.....

    On a DAT load board there is option to search loads with factor able brokers. I always apply that option plus read reviews on DAT. If there is few reviews saying that broker doesn't pay I just skip that posted load because I have been burnt once 5 years ago same way as a guy on this video and lost $5500 on a run. If posted load pays to good to be true it's because you never gonna get paid.
