Reaper now comes with LAME just a heads up guys. THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO. I went to reaper and lame was already installed. I think they sorted out the copyright info... I PAID for my Reaper tho, not sure if it makes a difference....
So can I change my tracks to be mp3s instead of WAV files? For what I'm using it for, we record every show multitrack, so it's mostly just a reference for my band to use to see what we can improve on, like watching film for sports or something, so the audio quality doesn't need to be top notch, but I like being able to roughly mix and use for video promos and stuff, and to listen to things individually so we can dissect exactly what each member is playing to get better and sound tighter. However, I'm filling up my HDDs CONSTANTLY because of the enormous size of the WAV files, so can I switch the tracks themselves to Mp3? Or won't that work?
I did these exact steps but the volume (sent as mp3 to myself via email) of the render is super low compared to how it sounds in the DAW. Can anyone help?
If I render my song recorded in Reaper to an MP3, will I still be able to go back in Reaper and continue working on the song, or does rendering a song permantly lock in down as rendered or whatever it does? Thank you!
Hello, when trying to render a Reaper project, it closes on its own and I can't render anything. Do you know what it may be? Can you help me? Thank you.
Thank you!!! Quick question...It has a nice sound quality, but a little over compressed.. how do I get rid of that? Edit: I just needed to turn the master volume down because it was clipping... LOL.
Hi, thanks for the video but it isn´t working on my computer. I downloaded the file and copied it in the "plugins" folder of Reaper. But it still asks me to download the file when I try to render it, (I did restart Reaper before). Also, it says that the target drive/path does not exist or it´s in use. Do you know why? Than you so much for your help!
Thanks. One question. Should I start mixing/making song in reaper as wav or mp3 file. Mp3 files is smaller, and anyway, things going to be rendered to mp3 to the end anyway? So what is the best solution while mixing? I then talking about home mixing, just use it to build idea, publish on youtube etc.
Hey! Cool video! But I have a problem, when I render the mp3, and then open the file in my desktop, for some reason it doesn't sound, why does this happen?
hello, i'm french ( sorry English is so bad) first, thank you so much for your video, it is realy easy to watch and quite understandable. So i'm using Reaper too, and I had to do the same operation to export my song as an MP3 file, only when I did it I had a little problem. In your video, at 2:00, when you click on the " APPLICATION EXTENSION" it open, but when I do it doesn't work. (there is a huge text with symbols like that " ÅAy??A??At??A&QöA ". could you explain why it does that and how to find a solution ? thank you again Audiohackr
Thanks for watching! I'm not sure what's going wrong with your download. Try searching the REAPER forum (forum.cockos.com/) to see if anyone else has had the same problem. If not, you can ask a question there. There are lots of active users in the forum, and I'm sure somebody else has had the issue before and can help you. Also, there is a "Forum de REAPER en français"! You can access it here: forum.cockos.com/forumdisplay.php?f=41 Cheers!
Thanks for watching! You'll need to explain in more detail what is happening for me to try to help. Does the audio work at all? Is it only a problem when rending mp3s? Or does it affect rendering to any file type?
i have done all of what you said and the lame encoder is installed in the correct folder but reaper is still not finding it. any ideas. it's driving me mad
My version of REAPER told me to put the dll file mentioned in this video in the same directory as REAPER.exe [in my case, C:\Program Files\REAPER (x64)]. A bit different to the instructions of this video, but the concept is the same. Try that?
Using dithering and noise shaping help to make 16 bit files sound as close to 24 bit files as possible. Too much data is lost in an MP3 for this to make much, if any, difference. I don't think dithering will harm an MP3 export, but I also don't think it would help. Thanks for watching!
Installed reaper on a new win 10 computer. Had no trouble the last time getting this fixed, but now it fails to see the libmp3lame.dll file, even though it is there. I have no clue what is going wrong.
I'm not sure why this is happening. I suggest checking out the REAPER forums to see if anyone else is having the same problem and if they've found a fix for it. Cheers! forum.cockos.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20
Cheers! Thanks for watching! As of REAPER 5.50 the mp3 codec is included in REAPER. If you're reading this and you haven't already got the update... go get the update! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching! Do you mean that when you render the song, it doesn't render the entire song? If that's the case, make sure you have the entire song selected in the timeline and try again. Cheers!
Thank for watching! The only time I would convert a file to MP3 is when I render a mix and need a smaller file size. When working with files in REAPER, I always want to keep them as high a quality as possible. If you're just looking for a tool to convert WAV files to MP3, in REAPER under the "File" menu, go to "Batch File/Item Converter". You can use this tool to select audio files and convert them from one file format to another (WAV to MP3 for example). Check the REAPER User's Guide for more info. (reaper.fm/userguide.php) Cheers!
You can install this file at any point. Until the file is installed correctly you won't be able to export directly as an MP3. Where you able to download the file? Are you using a Mac or Windows computer?
Did you try again? If you're still having problems, check out the REAPER forums (forum.cockos.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20). You might be able to find the answer there, or ask the community. Thanks for watching!
Cheers dude helped lot, wish other youtubers explained stuff as detailed and yet as simple as you do
thanks man,liked your vid👍🏻

Thank you for your awesome video. However, I don't have the possibility to select Dither and Noise Shape steams.
is it possible to work with mp3 files only? when I import any mp3 the DAW convert it into WAV and it takes too much hard drive for each song. Thanks.
thank you very much! i feel like i am a pro now! now i can render more songs and compose new ones! God bless you
I did these exact steps but the volume (sent as mp3 to myself via email) of the render is super low compared to how it sounds in the DAW. Can anyone help?

Very awesome quick tutorial. Thank you!
MP3 option doesn't appear on my list :(

Hey! Cool video! But I have a problem, when I render the mp3, and then open the file in my desktop, for some reason it doesn't sound, why does this happen?
Thanks for watching! I don't know why that would happen. Does the problem only happen when rendering mp3 files? What about WAV or Flac or OGG files?
hello, i'm french ( sorry English is so bad)
first, thank you so much for your video, it is realy easy to watch and quite

GREAT !!!!!!!!!! HELPED ME A LOT
It doesn't let me choose "render" to save everything I have done.
Edit: Nevermind, I had the source not on "master mix". Thanks for the video ☺️
FINALLY...thank you, this was driving me insane.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!

i have done all of what you said and the lame encoder is installed in the correct folder but reaper is still not finding it. any ideas. it's driving me mad
Hmm... it should work. Have you tried reinstalling REAPER and going through the process again?
My version of REAPER told me to put the dll file mentioned in this video in the same directory as REAPER.exe [in my case, C:\Program Files\REAPER (x64)]. A bit different to the instructions of this video, but the concept is the same. Try that?
Just what I needed! Thanks!

If your version of REAPER is newer than 5.50c, the LAME files are included! It should just work. Good luck. Thanks for watching!
Copy file straight into „REAPER” (besides reaper.exe file)folder.
My video renders but I have no sound on my MP3 file what do I do😩
And yes it does this to any file I render
I'm not sure why this is happening. I suggest checking out the REAPER forums to see if anyone else is having the same problem and if they've found a fix for it. Cheers! forum.cockos.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20
Your voice is beautiful.

You can install this file at any point. Until the file is installed correctly you won't be able to export directly as an MP3.
Where you able to download the file? Are you using a Mac or Windows computer?
