He seems to have done a lot of good for Britain, from what I can understand. The country was lucky for someone so progress-minded to gain power, even though the reason was his royal status and falling in love with the Queen Regnant.
Beautification tells the tale. Victoria was…and I’m being kind…at best very homely. It shows more so as she aged. Albert was no prize, but a regular looking guy..not particularly bad nor particularly handsome either. The recreations do her more justice than is deserved. Her ability to reign as Queen was generally good, helping raise the country to great heights…for good and for ill. Just sayin’. Before anyone jumps down my throat, tbh, I’m not so great looking myself either.
It’s also interesting to think what an influence her long reign had, so much so that I find similarities between her and Queen Elizabeth the first and second. 3 long-lasting, influential and powerful queens. (I know it’s slightly off topic but it was a sudden epiphany)
I can't imagine how heartbreaking it is. That's why I always felt bad for Victoria: she didn't have anyone close to her growing up, her mother and John Conroy were cruel and abusive, and then she falls head over heels for Albert, only for him to die in a tragic illness. Now modern medicine could probably save Albert. I have a book that mentions one of her jubilees, and she writes how she's "all alone" without Albert. :
We should I think not forget about John Brown. It is reported that they would walk hand in hand. Exchange valentine with each other’s pictures in them. Brown gave the queen his mother’s wedding ring. And Victorias personnel chaplain said on his deathbed that he secretly married them off.
Everything I've ever read about Prince Albert has convinced me that he was a very good man. Of course, Queen Victoria must have loved him very much. I've heard that quote from her diary after their wedding night before and it's always struck me how she wrote that she had never even hoped to feel as much love and affection as he showed her. It's both a sad clue to how deprived of love her childhood had been, but also a clue to just how wonderful Albert must have been. It was 1840 after all, and one can't help but think that perhaps not every new bride felt as positively about the wedding night after it took place. The reigning sexism and misogyny of the time, the lack of sex education, and especially among the royal and aristocratic classes, the push to marry who was "suitable", rather than the choice of your heart, probably affected many marriages negatively. They were fortunate that they were able to form such a partnership that was both suitable as far as society was concerned but also based on real love and affection.
Yes that makes sense as to why she fell so hard for him and loved him so much. Thankful she had a good man after such a difficult childhood! Sounds like she got the kind of man she needed 😊
Her rapturous words of the wedding night to her daughter are wonderful to read. They couldn't stay away from each other. The downside was she was always getting pregnant and she hated it.
Sounds like Albert was a total babe, and not because of his looks but intellect, compassion and progressiveness. He also brought out the best in his wife, and I can see why she heartbroken when he passed away.

Victoria said " The Queen of England let me in " Albert didn't. She went away and came back, knocked again. She said " Albert it's your little wife ." Albert then quickly answered the door and took her into his arms.
I read this also. She could be very "imperial" when angry even though she was very petite in height. When she finally went into the room after saying "its your little wife", they made up and he showed her what he had been doing while she was outside of the door pacing and banging and crying, he had been sketching the scene outside of one of the windows. "I was going to give it to you," Albert said, "as a memento of the day you locked me in my sitting room." Lol

It's refreshing to see her in her youth, we're so used to see her in her old age ! She was pretty ! And you made Prince Albert look very realistic. Thank you, I always love the whole research and work you put in your videos. I would absolutely love for you to recreate Simonetta Vespucci, the model of Botticelli Venus, who was considered as the perfect woman during this time. Same goes for Julia Farnese, the mistress of Alexander Borgia, who was deemed a beauty. Thank you so much 💓💓
Gorgeous portraits. The stories about Victoria and her "Angel" Albert have always delighted me, I wish they could have been together for longer. In a way, it is truly tragic. But it is a beautiful love story that she was so sure who she wanted, from a very young age. And that they worked together so well. I love hearing more about the history as well. Thank you for these lovely videos. I would love to hear more about lesser known figures as well as a variety of them, like more people of colour! I know you are completely limited by existing art however. Hope you can find plenty of portraiture for other interesting figures around the world. I love this channel! (I found it a few weeks ago!)
I completely agree. There are so many stories I’d love to tell, unfortunately many cultures from around the world don’t have great realistic likenesses of their figures, so that makes it a bit harder.
@@RoyaltyNowStudios it's completely understandable! So unfortunate, but that makes the ones who are able to have their likeness shown more special and appreciated :)

I don’t know why but when you talked about Queen Victoria’s childhood I actually wanted to cry- It’s so sad that only a dog accompanied her throughout her harsh daily life, and, the doll part felt even sadder because I myself have a sister that’s several years younger than me and my closer-to-age siblings, I always hear her playing with dolls alone and it feels really lonely
@@PenelopeAlys Unfortunately I have no time for that. Half of the time I have work to do, and the other half is her sleeping because our grandma always makes her sleep through the afternoon
When I was younger it was hard sometimes to include my little sister in our play. But I didn't want to just push her away. Now I barely see her, but I love her so much and I hope she knows that. She just lives far away from where I am.
I'm an only child and I had a childhood like this. I can tell you that I had way more fun playing alone than with other children and I'm very fond of my memories when it was only my imagination and me. She's fine, but if she ever asks you to play with her, do it.
I absolutely love these longer videos with the subject's history before the big reveal! Makes it so much more meaningful when you finally get to the (stunning) portrait interpretations towards the end!
I had never seen pictures of Queen Victoria as a young woman, but Princess Beatrice reminds me of her quite a bit! Beautiful work, as always. Thank you! ❤❤❤
I can't wait for Sissy to be featured, I grew up watching the Romy Schneider movies of the empress, and have been told that my great great grandmother was her favorite cook!
The one thing I've noticed about a lot of the depictions of famous persons is that there must have been an fair/a lot of editorializing over their physical features. The recent passing of ER2 has revealed an enormous amount of content in the form of film and photos. At the young age she became queen, Elizabeth was strikingly beautiful. Glamour came easily to her, and she served as an enticing palette for the royal image makers.
They were both so beautiful! The pain tho in the older Queens eyes is unmistakable. She looks as if she is looking at something that no one else can see. I imagine she was thinking of Albert and her Mama. How tragic her life was. As the saying goes, 'All that glitters is not gold.' In other words, her life may have seemed perfect from an outside perspective, but the truth is, she was trapped by her throne and was bereft of the two people who meant the most to her. Heart breaking that she never knew her mother loved her, that's truly tragic! God rest her soul.
WOW! This was amazing. I absolutely love this channel.... bringing history to life! I attended the Fort Nisqually celebration of Queen Victoria's birthday this year in May. You definitely did her justice.
As an historian who focuses on European Royalty I need to mention Victoria wasn't Queen of England but the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. England and Scotland were joined together in 1707 with the Act of Union creating the Kingdom of Great Britain. In 1801 Ireland, which had been a separate kingdom since the reign of Henry VIII, was formally joined to Great Britain and the name of the kingdom became the Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and the monarchs title reflected these changes.
Your work is beautiful. I cried when I heard that Victoria was buried holding a plaster cast of Albert's hand. I was holding my own husband's hand when he passed on. I hope you do Queen Catherine Howard's picture someday. She was supposed to be a great beauty, but in the only portrait I've seen of her, she appeared plain and dumpy.
Gosh I don't blame her. After seeing your work...he was a HANDSOME dear dear Albert. And how lovely she was. Thank you for this opportunity. Thrilling.
@@RoyaltyNowStudios Hello..just curious. I thought Queen Victoria's journal was destroyed by her daughter because she thought her mother's writing was scandalous and too frank. What sources did you used for her diary?

Princess Beatrice reminds me of Queen Victoria. The shape of the face, the bug eyes, the Cupid lips. This video just reinforced my perception. I love the modernised photograph except the thinned face. I always imagined QV always had a rounder face like PB.
Isn’t it crazy how we complain nowadays that photoshop is ruining beauty expectations when technically it has been done for centuries through portrait paintings and artist renderings? Not saying it’s healthy or right nonetheless. But… basically we have been altering history and beauty standards way before photoshop. It’s very interesting to learn more about.
Thank you for this video! I had an awful panic attack today, one of my worst in the last few years, and this video helped calm me down. Nothing calms me down, so I'm very grateful for you❤
victoria's ability to love people mostly when they're dead was surprising. there are records of her abusing her children and constantly nagging and arguing with her husband (in one documented instance she followed him from room to room shouting as he was trying to get away from her) and hated her mother's guts...but when both her husband and mother died, they were her beloved people...
She was definitely a toxic character but if you’ve also read about the way Conroy bullied her, you realize that she had severe mental health issues. Albert’s letters home and her own words about her moods also strongly suggest a mental health issue possibly linked to postpartum depression. Mostly I think she has narcissistic personality disorder
@@tilseptember of course her childhood abuse explains her abusive behaviour towards others, but makes me no less sympathetic. Even back in the day when beating children was considered normal, her behaviour towards her children was considered too harsh and cruel by people who witnessed it. Imagine how bad it must have been. She would even beat, or ask her staff to beat, Leopold (who has haemophilia and she understood that illness- just didn't care)
You should maybe try doing portraits of Aztec, Mayan or Incan royalty. I can think of Moctezuma or Atahualpa. They have super interesting stories right before colonization and I think looking at them in a more realistic way would be super cool! I hope you read this and investigate a little on them.

I've been watching Royalty Now for a while. Mesmerized and fully absorbed by the magic and artistry of, not only the visual but the narrative, as well, I quickly became a fan and subscriber. It was this particular video that made me mindful of how lucky I am to be living my latter years in a time where historical figures, especially those so deeply in love, and depicted in monochromatic images with sullen and stoic expressions, come to life in brilliant color, textures and the majesty they so richly deserve. To see expressions of love and happiness is profound. Giving them life again is almost godlike. The simple words "thank you" are inadequate.
Wow, this comment warmed my heart. I’m so glad that you find the videos and recreations intriguing, we have the best time making them. You are so kind, thank you so much ❤️
Watching this was beautiful and listening to the history of Queen Victoria and her beloved Prince/King Albert is intriguing. But I did notice that when you did the first Queen Victoria to make her look more realistic she's prettier in your version then the portrait. And the modernized version of Queen Victoria blew me away because of the strong resemblance in Queen Elizabeth's granddaughters to that modernized portrait you did of Queen Victoria. At this moment May Queen Elizabeth rest in peace whom she broke Queen Victoria's record on the throne Queen Elizabeth was Queen for 70 years. Awesome beautiful pics.
Princess Beatrice is like her doppelgänger now. Princess Beatrice’s bearing is also very regal now after she’s become a mother. I hope she becomes a working royal 👸🏻 and revive her great great great (don’t know how many greats that is) grandmother’s style. 👑
@@carolinegodden4364 you are confusing Bea with her sister, Beatrice wore Queen Mary's fringe tiara at her wedding, (she has also wore her mother's York tiara at the Jordan royal wedding), it was Eugenie who wore the emerald Kokoshnik that was left to her great grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, wife of George vi in the Greville bequest
Thank you. Your work is wonderful. I was thinking…The painted portraits where they are in their formal Queen and King apparel are going to be much different than the black and white grainy photos where they are more dressed casually. Either way, they were a stunning couple. Their history is fascinating. Its so sad Prince Alberts life ended so premature.

this is why the victorian era is my favorite. the styles, how they learned to love each other for love and not politics, her life was truly a fairytale and the world painted such a picture that stands out still even now. Not to mention these are the days where many important inventions saw the world that are still used today. So many things happened during her reign both beautiful and devastating. but their love story was a huge inspiration for so many.
Prince Albert was just so naturally handsome! Any queen would fancy him anytime! No disrespect to Queen Victoria but Prince Albert looks was just extraordinary!
Always a pleasure. A graceful mix of art, history, humanity & education. I’m happy these people are made “real” & alive. Any interest in diving into historical figures from the Far East? There’s a folk hero Wong Fei Hung
It's really nice hearing about men like Albert, I think we all have this general idea of men, especially royal men, in those times and it's not very nice. You made him seem so much like a modern, good, wholesome dad and husband and it's refreshing.
It’s true with most people. You become like the person you hate, especially if that person is your parent. That’s ANOTHER reason it’s important to forgive.

Thank you so much 💓💓
Albert, in my opinion was gorgeous! Victoria definitely has good taste! Wonderful job!
Albert was a female and Victoria was Victor.
THE CREATOR BLESS
💙 Albert pulls emotion from the viewers while watching his face go through emotions of uncertainty, vulnerability in just a few moments. Wow. Outstanding portrayals!
This is now my new favorite TH-cam channel! Your ability to summarize history is stunning enough, but the visual recreations you create simply take my breath away. Thank you so much for what you do!
I second your thoughts exactly!! Beautiful video and narration.
Idealized version or not, Albert is an incredibly handsome man.
I don’t know why but when you talked about Queen Victoria’s childhood I actually wanted to cry-
It’s so sad that only a dog accompanied her throughout her harsh daily life, and, the doll part felt even sadder because I myself have a sister that’s several years younger than me and my closer-to-age siblings, I always hear her playing with dolls alone and it feels really lonely
You should play with your sister! Let her know that she’s not alone
Julian Fellows wrote and produced a movie called 'Young Victoria'. I highly recommend it.
started crying when you read her entries about Albert, if only someone loved me that much 😭😭
When you said she was burried in a wedding attire holding Albert's hand as a replica, I sobbed.
Me too😢
Man, people went through so much back then. Consider myself lucky to be born in this era.
I absolutely love these longer videos with the subject's history before the big reveal! Makes it so much more meaningful when you finally get to the (stunning) portrait interpretations towards the end!
This one is so good. I’ve always loved their story and wondered what she really looked like as a younger woman with Albert. Such a great love story
I just LOVE your work! As a historian, I appreciate all the work you put into these great videos!
Thank you! Always so flattering coming from a historian! Really appreciate it ❤️
In Kolkata, we have one of the biggest monuments dedicated to her: The Victoria Memorial. It’s a lovely museum.
Thank you! ❤️❤️
Thank you Liam, apologies for that error.
I was thinking exactly same.
I'd love to see you take up the last four Romanov daughters in turn, one video for each. There are many photos of them!
Oh yeah
Gosh I don't blame her. After seeing your work...he was a HANDSOME dear dear Albert. And how lovely she was. Thank you for this opportunity. Thrilling.
Princes Beatrice looks strikingly like Queen Victoria. Wow! Lovely! 👑👑👑💎💎💎
Victoria is one of my favourite historical figures! I love your recreations
I always love how you bring people to life. Your modern interpretations are just incredible. Thank you for sharing your talent
Thank you so much ❤️
@@RoyaltyNowStudios Hello..just curious. I thought Queen Victoria's journal was destroyed by her daughter because she thought her mother's writing was scandalous and too frank. What sources did you used for her diary?
Her eyes passed down all the way to Queen Elizabeth’s father. Then skipped and went to Beatrice.
I love how you breathe life into each historical character as well as your recreation of their likeness. Thanks for sharing.
This is great. I've always been a fan of the love story between Victoria and Albert. Seeing them come to life makes it easy to see their passion!
Goodness just after the start of the recreation (21:10) you can see an amazing resemblance to Prinincess Beatrice, the final look of modern Quessn Victoria reminded me of Anna Hendricks, Albert is just as stunning the way you recreated him truly depicts Victoria's description of him. I never tire of your amazing work and wondered if you ever do request?
Truly beautiful thank you.
Princess Beatrice reminds me of Queen Victoria. The shape of the face, the bug eyes, the Cupid lips. This video just reinforced my perception. I love the modernised photograph except the thinned face. I always imagined QV always had a rounder face like PB.
I love the realistic photos you create for your historical figures. It helps make history more real.
Learned so many things! What an incredible story. Clearly the loss of Albert left Victoria bereft.
I unfortunately agree with this, I’ve read so many nasty things about Victoria. I do genuinely believe Albert was holding everything together.
@@RoyaltyNowStudios Maybe it is true she was bipolar.. to explain all her moods and arguing?
@@tilseptember of course her childhood abuse explains her abusive behaviour towards others, but makes me no less sympathetic. Even back in the day when beating children was considered normal, her behaviour towards her children was considered too harsh and cruel by people who witnessed it. Imagine how bad it must have been.
She would even beat, or ask her staff to beat, Leopold (who has haemophilia and she understood that illness- just didn't care)
I was looking for this comment. Lol!
This is one of the best narrated programs ive seen on you tube. Well done.
You should maybe try doing portraits of Aztec, Mayan or Incan royalty. I can think of Moctezuma or Atahualpa. They have super interesting stories right before colonization and I think looking at them in a more realistic way would be super cool! I hope you read this and investigate a little on them.
You mean the Aztec royalty that had human sacrifice on their alters on the pyramids
Cutting out their hearts while alive
@@gaildrake5940 I'm not saying it was right. Neither were the beheaded in the French revolution. They're historical figures in the end.
@@mgvd218 that was a revolution in France though pretty awful. This was their religion Nonetheless that part of colonization as you put it was good
@@gaildrake5940 also the way the colonizers tortured Moctezuma for him not revealing where he hid his treasure. And how his "penacho" is in a museum in Amsterdam and not in Mexico is wild!
Edit: it's in Wien 🙂
I binge watched almost all of your videos, I really love this type of content, thank you so much for bringing this to the platform🥰
Also, can you guys make a video about Francisco de Miranda at some point? His story is so interesting and I would love to know how he actually looked like in real life.
So glad this channel is getting more subs. 100k only a short time ago, now 145k! I remember when it was like 11k! Congratulations, grow and prosper. My fav channel.
10:20
George III was Victoria's grandfather, NOT her great grandfather. Her great grandfather was Frederick, Prince of Wales.
Love the commentary prior to showing the recreations. Fabulous work!
Thank you joy!
I love when you include the modern version of the each person!!!! ❤
It’s so cool that you could discover and in a way, rediscover your family tree.
I genuinely enjoyed it! I’ve never really used a family tree service before, it was really fun
Yes, she is regal and she got to wear the emerald tiara, so that seems significant.
Those images at the end are absolutely amazing & I have to say Princess Beatrice is Queen Victoria’s image its actually really special to be able to see the likeness after all those years she’s the only member of the Royal Family with any likeness that i can see, really enjoyed this.
Princess Beatrice looks so much like her.
I just love this channel. All the history and then the beautiful recreations at the end are always so delightful and intriguing. Thankyou
Amazing how much Beatrix looks just like her except for the red hair. She could play Victoria very convincingly
this is why the victorian era is my favorite. the styles, how they learned to love each other for love and not politics, her life was truly a fairytale and the world painted such a picture that stands out still even now. Not to mention these are the days where many important inventions saw the world that are still used today. So many things happened during her reign both beautiful and devastating. but their love story was a huge inspiration for so many.
I always think of Queen Victoria when I see princess Beatrice. They look so alike!
That last image of her was perfect!
Prince Albert was just so naturally handsome! Any queen would fancy him anytime! No disrespect to Queen Victoria but Prince Albert looks was just extraordinary!
Omg it’s a major episode today. It’s Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, the Myths, the Peoples, the Legends.
I am so happy I found this channel! It's awesome!
So happy you like it! welcome to the channel ❤️
I missed these videos so much! My favorite TH-cam content. Something about recreations makes me tear up a little bit.
Always a pleasure. A graceful mix of art, history, humanity & education. I’m happy these people are made “real” & alive.
Any interest in diving into historical figures from the Far East?
There’s a folk hero Wong Fei Hung
The musical score you used on this in the end was just magnificent.
Not only is your voice beautiful, but so is your pacing.
Those letters.. The Queen was so inlove. ❤️
We all know what Victoria looked like as an older woman, as a result of photography. To see her as a younger woman is simply fascinating
I just saw Young Victoria a few days ago and I immediately fell in Love with her and Prince Albert.
This was beautifully done. Thank you.
The Duchess (Queen Victoria’s mother) is THE Tiger Mom/Stage Mom/Helicopter Parent.
They were 1st cousins and look so much alike. Thank you for coaxing new life into history. Your work helps the information stick in my memory.
Love how you’ve done these two in one video 🥰
It's really nice hearing about men like Albert, I think we all have this general idea of men, especially royal men, in those times and it's not very nice. You made him seem so much like a modern, good, wholesome dad and husband and it's refreshing.
It’s so unfortunate that Queen Victoria became the person she hated.
It’s true with most people. You become like the person you hate, especially if that person is your parent. That’s ANOTHER reason it’s important to forgive.
We must continue to crush our carnal evil nature (the satan) daily or it will overrake our God consciousness. The adversary lives in each of us that why it must be crucified so we can truly live.

I've always adored Queen Victoria and really enjoyed this. I wish you would have added John Brown. He was also the love of her life. Thank you! Love your channel.
Hi I love your videos. I'm from Portsmouth, England where Admiral Lord Nelson died. I would love to see you do a video on him, his story is incredible. I hope you see this and fingers crossed you do one. Thank you so much xx
Stunning recreations! I can see why Queen Victoria fell in love with Prince Albert...he truly was as she described him - "beautiful." Handsome, yes, but he looked to be such a thoughtful, deep soul.
The video was so cool as always! Great work 👏🏽
It's heartwarming to see Albert released from his can once in a while :)
Wow! The resemble of Victoria with Beatriz of York is incredible.
Goodness, one certainly sees what she saw in Albert! As for her modern version...I think I've met that girl in Britain about a dozen times, and always liked her.
