I didn't realize that was a Chinese style of frying the egg. Makes a lot of sense now, because that's how my grandma always did it! Very well done video!!!
Since I was 14 (I'm 26 now), my best friend's family would take me to Chinatown in London every other weekend for a couple years. We went to so many different Chinese restaurants and I tried so much food. For context, I'm a white british boy and my best friend at the time is half chinese, him mum's side of the family are the most generous and amazing Chinese cooks I've ever met. I fell in love with asian cuisine from my first visit to London. So many new smells and tastes I never knew existed. When I would stay at his mum's house, I'd be woken up to a bowl of noodles, minced beef and a small drizzle of Pearl River Bridge soy sauce. It was so simple and quick to make. It became my comfort food and every time I eat it, it brings back so many memories. I love this video, you've taught me to make some amazing dishes that look far more presentable and taste even better than my comfort food. (Don't get me wrong; beef, noodles and soy sauce will always be my comfort food, but your video is SOOOO being written in my recipe book, thank you so much).
Why did I enjoy you sitting on the corner with your rice egg bowl so much?? like a little kid being comforted by their favorite food in their happy place
This is such a well made video, the composition is everything! I really appreciate the thought put into it, the way you've incorporated recipes into the explanation and uses for the various condiments is a lovely touch that makes a huge impact! 10/10, I've already sent it to a few friends who I know are going to make great use of the information. Thank you

Thank you so much Dooby, I'm part Korean but also British. You have helped me in learning further about Korean culture and cuisine. I can't thank you enough, much love! 🙏🫰❤️
I'm asian with most of these sauces in my cabinet, but always use them nilly willy based on...how I feel on that day or random guess / memory work on how mum used to cook. It's nice to know how each of these are made and the flavour notes they have etc 😁
I like this content! I love it when you make videos with recipes that are easy enough for me to try. The sauces seem tricky to use, but the way you use them and the dishes you make look so simple and worth trying. Thanks for making this video!
Love the fact that a lot of East Asian recipes are quick to make because of their condiments. But when it comes to Western cuisines I love and think there is something romantic and relaxing about food that takes a while to cook such as a stew or soup that has been simmering for hours and the time that goes into it and the anticipation that builds up. It's so lovely to see how many videos capture this and even movies such as the Ghibli films capture the beauty of food cooking for some time to develop even more flavor.
“Lather that baby like Justin Trudeau” 😂 I just got a good wok for Christmas and have started experimenting with Asian cooking , this video was a Great introduction to what to buy and what to use it for. Thank you so much!
Nice to get some explanations for some of the Chinese condiments I'm not fully familiar with. Gochujang is one of my absolute FAVES. Need to stock my pantry with more of asian flavors.
i also love making food from around the world but never know what to keep in the pantry so i end up spending more. i would love to see more videos like this but maybe something that shows what you always keep for spices/ sauces for all cusine. i've been watching your videos for a while now and youve helped me become a better home cook. love you videos and you personality :) i hope your doing good!
This was thorough and comprehensive. I am American....mid-western, where we eat Miracle Whip, Ranch and Chick filA sauce. I love cooking Asian dishes and have always had a collection of Asian sauce components in my fridge, but this...this makes me wanna run to H Mart to up my game! Even just to try some different soy sauces like the Pearl River! Thank you. I'm a Dooby forever.
I LOVE this video! So good and now I know what to buy. I’m from Sweden but love Asian food. I always have fish sauce, Kikkoman soy sauce, gochujang, msg and gochugaru at home, but I want to expand my pantry. So thank you❤️
I can see why you have 4 million+ subscribers. You have one more, now. German guy, here. 64 of age. Much into cooking (who would habe guessed that?). Been watching this episode as far as to the mayo. I'm currently experimenting with mayo. Yolk-only mayo will be next. So far, I've been making only the western-style whole egg versions. But lately I made one with 1/3rd peanut oil instead of all neutral oil. Great twist! I'll continue with i.e. walnut oil. Ratios are to-be-found-out. I've just started. Condiment staples in Germany are surely boullions, horseraddish, gherkins( there are huge varieties of that! Brined of fermented? Sweet-ish or not?), ketchup, mayonaise, mustard (in various forms: hot, moderately hot, sweet-ish).
Tina you are the bomb!! 💣 Your videos are so good, I love watching all of them but when you are making food content you really shine! You are so captivating to watch!!
WIFEY?!! Wedding bells soon or got married after(before) moving to Spain & bought a new house?? Love this video, I am so asian, I’ve got 97% of all the saucesssss….wait was that Jollibee chickenjoy?! they have it in Spain?!
one of the best vids from dooby!! really enjoyed and learned a lot from this and liked how you included written recipes and gave in depth research about these condiments!! dont usually comment but i think this deserves one
for oyster sauce at 12:18, i recommend hitting the base of the sauce bottle to dispense the oyster sauce. similar theory to those older glass ketchup bottles
This was fun and useful to watch!! Thank youuu! And congrats for your 1st video in your new kitchen. May you have many many years of happiness and great shared food there!! I am half French / half Korean, never tried the gochujang pasta YET! The most popular sauce here in France is butter based, with garlic, a lot of garlic as I got used to Korean foods. And I also like a lot mixing ketchup with mayo as a dip!
I can`t even imagine hoe much work this must have been❤ I would be really interested in seeing what products and staples you get and would recommend from the asian supermarket
I have to say, Japanese might be the king of them all when it comes to developing and producing versatile sauces. I had not realized this until I was staying for a couple of weeks in a dormitory in Kyoto and had to cook to save money. Because it was only for a short 2 weeks and I was told that I was not allowed to use other people's seasoning or condiments stored in the cabinet, I thought to myself that I'd better buy a small bottle of sauce that could be used for a variety of dishes. And wow ... the steak sauce similarly to the one in your video, I used it for everything from stir-frying to dipping and marinating. Together with just a small jar of crunchy garlic chili oil, I could cook very good and filling food for cheap for 2 weeks!
Amazing video! I am from Romania and indeed I had a hard time finding ingredients 5-6 years ago when I started cooking asian food. Now you can find some asian stores in bigger cities or hope for the best with online shopping ( which I did for most of them, since I live in a small city). I definitely added some new things to try from this video and some fun recipes with the ingredients I already have. Thank youuu for the great video! Ps. The rice, egg and sesame oil for breakfast ( a bit of soy sauce and green onions - chefs kiss) is a staple since I learned it from you from an older video! Kisses from Transylvania ❤
Our shanxi family living in the States uses DongHu black vinegar. Douse a bowl of noods with that, chili oil and soy sauce and thank me later. I appreciated the easy recipes interspersed throughout the video!
Absolutely great video....I love asian food.... specialy Korean.... and I have a lot of these condiments at home but sometimes I'm afraid of buying something new cause I might not like it and then what to do. You describe it so well and I got a lot of understanding of taste and how to use some. So it definitely brings a lot of new ideas. Thank you much. Kamsamida! 😀
Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean sauces or pantry seasoning in my kitchen are : lime pepper sauce, habinero pepper sauce, curry powder, tumeric, masala, green seasoning jar in the fridge compose of blended herbs like shadow beni(cilantro), rosemary, thyme, mint, curry leaves, lemon grass, basil, moringa leaves. Apple cidar vinegar, jerk seasoning sauce.
My tip for you: next you're in Japan/Tokyo get the chilli crisp from the supermarket with the cow logo ?Hanamasa? . It's sweeter & more of a finishing condiment, full of CRISPY garlic flakes that stay crispy. Shake the jar and you can hear the crispiness. Such a treat on anything! Especially topping a fried egg on top of fresh warm rice. I had to try mapo tofu after the Food Wars episode(s). Now i'm a doubangang addict too. Wonderful in tonkotsu (even a packet one!), mac & cheese, bologinaise, ETC or simply slathered on buttered toast with a side of refreshing light pickles/cucumber. My whole life i've seemingly had more of a love for sauces than most. My trying can get a little... hoarding. Going to make myself a master sauces list from your video & a stock list of what I have & try to keep it reasonable!
1:30 As Indonesian person, Indonesia is probably the largest country that often forgotten. In the culinary world, Thai, Vietnamese, Philippines, and even Malaysian cusines are way more popular.
Thank you so much for this incredibly informative and helpful video! I learned so much. Your recipes look delicious, and thinks for the tip about blanching tofu before cooking it in sauce. I had no idea!
What an amazing video! Thank you so so much! I’m so excited to try out some new sauces and get my saucy on! 😅 I appreciate how organised your videos are! So educational but fun 🤩 can’t wait for the next one ❤
Saving this video for reference and recipes. I was curious why it was so long, hahaha. Thanks! I inherited many of these sauces or used them once for a recipe I can even remember (looking at you, miso, which I think made its way into a vegetarian taco recipe) and would love to play with them to use them up. Looks like just add butter and rice for a few of these, hahaha.
What are some condiment staples in your country?! I'm curious to know. If you have any questions on some of the sauces, let me know in the comments and I'll try my best to respond to all of them 🫶

“Lather that baby like Justin Trudeau” 😂
I just got a good wok for Christmas and have started experimenting with Asian cooking , this video was a Great introduction to what to buy and what to use it for. Thank you so much!
Nice to get some explanations for some of the Chinese condiments I'm not fully familiar with. Gochujang is one of my absolute FAVES. Need to stock my pantry with more of asian flavors.
Oh thank you for this! I just love you to bits ... I'm a disabled old guy: your videos add spice and sparkle to my life ❤!
i also love making food from around the world but never know what to keep in the pantry so i end up spending more. i would love to see more videos like this but maybe something that shows what you always keep for spices/ sauces for all cusine. i've been watching your videos for a while now and youve helped me become a better home cook. love you videos and you personality :) i hope your doing good!
Love your vibe and vlog sooooo much Dooby, forever a fan!! ❤❤
So thank you❤️
That's the ultimate guide to condiments! Thanks for being a great teacher. Much love from Greece 😄
my name is Cora and I'm 9, me, my mom and my sister love your show!!!!

Sweet-ish or not?), ketchup, mayonaise, mustard (in various forms: hot, moderately hot, sweet-ish).
loll every asian has these condiments. love your videos!!! keep going!💗
Thank you for this! Been loving and navigating the world of cooking and kinda getting overwhelmed with all the many condiments to use. 💕
Tina you are the bomb!! 💣 Your videos are so good, I love watching all of them but when you are making food content you really shine! You are so captivating to watch!!
20:10 always taking her time to appreciate having made chili oil ❤ love those moments
I loved every second of this video!! Kudos for your effort Douby🎉❤❤
This is going to be a reference for beginner cooks for years to come.
This video is like the bible for asian condiments. Really appreciate the level of effort.
I thought I knew how to cook. I have much to learn. This video was so helpful and making me hungry at 11pm...
justin trudeau jumpscare 😂😂😂 15:28
my favorite part tbh
This was fun and useful to watch!! Thank youuu! And congrats for your 1st video in your new kitchen. May you have many many years of happiness and great shared food there!! I am half French / half Korean, never tried the gochujang pasta YET! The most popular sauce here in France is butter based, with garlic, a lot of garlic as I got used to Korean foods. And I also like a lot mixing ketchup with mayo as a dip!
Your kitchen setup in your new digs looks great
Great video as always. Although there might be a minor difference in gluttonous rice vs glutenous rice. Gluttonous rices just don't know when to stop😉
I this video! I really needed something like this because I'm always so overwhelmed at my Asian grocery store. I'd love to see more vids of this kind
I can`t even imagine hoe much work this must have been❤ I would be really interested in seeing what products and staples you get and would recommend from the asian supermarket
Naw, you a real GOAT for creating this video
This why i soooo soooo love Asian cuisines...because of this flavors! 👌😋😍😍
one of the best videos in terms of concept and execution you've made and the bar was high already
Another cracking video! So well produced love love love!
You look like a KPop Star with that white countertop. The bounce of light is just pizzazz! ✨
I’m so glad I’m discovering these videos right at the perfect time!
❤ going all out! This is awesome! Definitely helps with confidence in trying out new stuff thank you so much for this info!!
youre so much fun to watch like you have such an incredible energy also this video was incredible
Thank you so very much i learned so many things from your video even though I'm half Korean!
Ready to cook east Asian dishes all day long now.
That was SUCH a good video!! So informative, good editing and SO entertaining. Well done!!
A guide I didn't know I needed! Now I'll be better equipped going to HMart every time, so thankyouuuuuuuuu 😊
Such a good video and so funny too! Thanks for this! I'm definitely saving this and coming back to it when I want to try a new condiment.
I would love a video about tofu, I still get confused in the supermarket about which one I should get
This is an EPIC episode. I’m speechless 😌👏🏽
sis dooby, youre GOATed i swear. LOVE ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS!!!
I appreciated the easy recipes interspersed throughout the video!
this might be my favorite video on your channel!
Kamsamida! 😀
Dooby! What a gemm single-handedly bringing the east to the west
i love you dooby, you never fail to cheer me up
im glad there is a disclaimer. Asia is a big continent! more should do this
Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean sauces or pantry seasoning in my kitchen are : lime pepper sauce, habinero pepper sauce, curry powder, tumeric, masala, green seasoning jar in the fridge compose of blended herbs like shadow beni(cilantro), rosemary, thyme, mint, curry leaves, lemon grass, basil, moringa leaves.
The video of my dreams. I just bought black bean paste and need to find out what to do with it. ❤❤❤❤ Love from Austria
This was such a great informative video! Really enjoyed this, thank you!
OOUUUHHHHH, i am SOOOO EXCITED for this video!!! This is literally what I need now...Dooby, THANK YOU!!!! Ok, so let's go watch the video!
it’s only been 2 weeks but i miss watching dooby while i eat breakfast
1:30 As Indonesian person, Indonesia is probably the largest country that often forgotten. In the culinary world, Thai, Vietnamese, Philippines, and even Malaysian cusines are way more popular.
That makes it more special. In the Netherlands and Suriname, your cuisine is much appreciated.
Thank you so much for this incredibly informative and helpful video! I learned so much. Your recipes look delicious, and thinks for the tip about blanching tofu before cooking it in sauce. I had no idea!
Oops, I meant “thanks.”
I'd love to taste your secret sauce.
i'd say this is out of line..... but.... it's not like it's wrong....
What an amazing video! Thank you so so much! I’m so excited to try out some new sauces and get my saucy on! 😅
I appreciate how organised your videos are!
Looks like just add butter and rice for a few of these, hahaha.
i love this video! I can’t wait to try ur recommended sauces and also your recipes are super simple.
That Lee Kum Kee Hoisin is 🔥 This video was a compliment to Asian condiments
Twice joke was unexpected but brighten my day!! and ofc this video really helped me to understand more about cooking
Asian cooking is using basically every type of seasoning in existent 😂 For real tho, thanks for this video! Amazing explanations!
What a total pleasure to watch - thank you!
