I was dying laughing about the zippers, and then when I had finally calmed down and we started getting serious with Alayna discussing having to break off her engagement, learning she was gay, and beginning to cringe after sharing her story.... an ad popped up with a hetero wedding and I absolutely started dying again at the dark humour timing!!!
Something about the grey brings out the warmth in her complexion! It's interesting because if you asked me without seeing it, i would've picked that rich green for her. Both look good, but #2 is 🔥
When I say that Alayna’s story genuinely helped me get from almost getting engaged to a man to coming out as a lesbian. She was able to articulate my emotions out loud that I couldn’t even say to myself. But once I watched her video and felt a strong sense of relatability the next time I talked to my ex we broke up. Her have the retrospect of looking at her childhood and being like “oh that was me being gay!” Is so relatable
Ashley I ADORE your sweaters vests, especially the second one!!!! I think they look great on you and was lowkey squealing along with Mak and Alayna lmao
Lol are we doing a no intros line of episodes? 😂 I'm like half expecting Ashley to like start screaming and be like "Guys! It's been like 3 episodes and we haven't done an intro! AAAAAAHHHHHH!" 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Ashleyy wear black with the sweater vest! Black straight leg jeans or pants and a black cap. White sneakers to match the tshirt and vest. Blue jeans might work too. You’re welcome
This was genuinely one of the best episodes in a long time. And go figure, Mack talked a lot of this episode! You add so much good to this pod, Mack! Mack and Alayna’s back and forth and Ashley loathing it is PERFECTION

I found Alayna's channel first years and years ago when I also identified as bi (I grew up in a small Canadian town too) and then realized I was a lesbian in my late 20's shortly after Alayna did. The shock and grief and denial of that "oh" moment is fucking brutal and I can remember sobbing when I realized and wishing I wasn't gay. Fucking rough start for both of us lol. Love you Alayna ❤
The second sweater vest accentuates and compliments Ashley's features so well! & I appreciate Alayna sharing her experience with the question. We're the same age and our realization happened at exactly the same time and her videos during that time helped me SO SO much...and then I watched the one with Ashley which introduced me to Ashley, WHGS and eventually seeing Ashely live 3 times!
Maybe with darker slacks? (The sweater vest.) Ooh! And the crochet is nice. Personally I don’t mind the ‘too wide’ shoulders. Of course my aesthetics are European, and I’m an old male, so… I am not entirely the right demographic. On the other hand, my (adult) daughters like my fashion advice. 😀
32:40 man, that forever "ouch" feeling is so real. I wasn't engaged or married but had a 6 year relationship. Something was off, i think i spent much of the last 2 years feeling like we werent going to make it. Then he left. He didnt officially move out, but he went back to his parents house in another state with no return date. That gave me time to think. Some stuff happened, a few months of ruminating slowly building to a full-on crisis, oh no, im gay. I have to tell him. So i made the dubious, mid-crisis decision to tell him on facetime. In my defense, i had no idea when i would actually see him next. It was august and we probably woudnt have been face-to-face until thanksgiving. Waiting felt bad and dishonest, plus dropping that during the holiday season, telling him on the phone also felt really bad... So for better or worse, thats what happened. The actual conversation was really rough. I was an emotional mess telling him everything. If i could go back, i would leave out the identity stuff entirely. Being fully honest with him in that moment was not worth the damage it caused.
Ashley….you look *SOOOOO GOOOOOD* in your new look! 🔥 oh..and style-tip: keep the bigger sleeved t-shirt but roll the sleeve twice, thin + sweatervest & backwards hat! Or no hat. (Or add a colorfull t-shirt, with a color that is in the vest) and as a cricheter myself…I approve the colorful sweatshirt. Crochet can’t be made with a machine, so somebody put a lot of time and love into that shirt!
47:22 'Listen, I know this might be hard to understand because it was even hard for me to understand but like I am much happier since I realized this about myself.'
All 3 so funny today! Loving this episode! Only halfway thru cuz I listen/watch on my way to work in LA traffic but just had to come on here before I forget everything I wanted to say so far. First off, I agree with Ashley and Alayna. Love the fall cuz I can finally wear stuff I don't feel fat in AND I am not sweating through all my clothes. Also, Mak is on fire this episode. Cracking up when Ashley goes away to get her vests and Mak and Alayna try to keep the convo going. And finally, Ashley-- YES to the vests!!!!! First one with the hat for sure, too. Like, you are making me want to go out and buy a vest. Ok, that's all for now. Sure I'll be back with more praise when I finish the episode on my way home today. (I now enjoy sitting in traffic on Wednesdays cuz I get to listen to the 3 of you banter. It's the best!)
The drapey thinner fabric of the second vest is definitely a better fit, but they both look cute on ashley ✨ and the sweater looks super comfy~ maybe experiment with a cuffed or rolled sleeve with the green vest, play with the silhouette proportions a little
I think the sweater vest looks great, but as for the hat, *personally* I think the shape of the bill makes a big difference. I think a more curved bill would look good rather than the slightly flatter bill. I also like the colors matching! Even a mostly solid colored hat to match the vest would look good (also this might be unpopular but maybe look into getting a trucker hat? I actually love them and think you’d rock one Ashley)
Ashley I love the sweater vest (tbh you could do with or without hat) and it would look cute with like loafers or tennis shoes. Genuinely it’s so nice, and it can be like a casual elevation of style :)
For talking about finding your queerness in later years, a very useful concept is compulsive heterosexuality, if you can explain that to them they'll understand where you're coming from
This was the FUNNIEST episode in a long time 😂😂😂 "You look like you're ready for golfing!.....oh, maybe I shouldn't have said that out loud. You look like you should be sitting in front of a Christmas tree!" "🤦Alayna, you're going to need to run these by me before you say anything else" Mak was especially hilarious today. And the back and forth about hat/no hat was fantastic 👏
I understand the sensory issues with some clothes. If the clothes are like silk material or anything that can even seem itchy, I can’t do it. Also: Ashley’s sweater vest/hat combo was great! The hat I think needs to be backwards because of the flat brim, the flat brim doesn’t look right on anyone when the hat is forward.
Ashleyyyy the vests look so good on you!! Maybe a long sleeved (white?) shirt underneath so that you have some collar action? Loafers with this for sure, and cap
Fashion person here- the vests look awesome but I would recommend a slightly more fitted shirt underneath or even no shirt underneath so that the oversized shape of the vest looks intentional instead of frumpy. Also! Mac- if the whole thingy that zips and puts the sides together has fallen off, you need to fully replace the zipper, but if just the part you hold onto has broken off you can get a piece of leather or ribbon and tie it around the little loop on there to make a little pull to save money and time ❤❤❤
19:15 Ashley you look good! in that vest. I agree with Aylana that is better without the hat. I think that you should try it with a long sleeve shirt, I usually prefer them that way. But the color combination and the vest itself look very nice on you. ❤ The hat can be good for more informal ocasions, it's not that it looks bad, more like it gives a goofy vibe to me. Also, I think that vest would look even better with a dark colored pant/jean. Just my opinion.
The coming out video of Alayna (the wedding is off) is the video that started my questionning and my coming out as a lesbian at 40 (4 years ago). I was bi for 21 years...but not really. But I embrace my authentic self now, I LOVE that I don't have to care about the male gaze anymore (which was actually internalize) and I can dress whatever.
Also some people will say sex isn't always as fun for women and that's okay....which is a super annoying thing to hear and kind of upsetting because you realize they might not have ever had pleasuable sex but at the end of the day they just have to belive you
Interesting to hear that realising they were gay wasn't a huge part of either Ashley's or Mak's coming out journey. The questioning and doubting and exploring your feelings over and over for years was so much for teenage me. And the difference doesn't seem to be generational or whether you're exposed to labels. One of the scariest parts about coming out for me was trusting myself because there was no one and nothing else to rely on and opening up the whole thing felt entirely up to me, so what if I was wrong? Fun fact: I also have a school staircase story in this context. We were leaving after class and exchanging gossip about who was in a relationship with whom this week and someone said that the new girl someone was dating was pansexual and after the explanation of that word, I answered "Isn't that true for everyone and straight people just choose to act on it with the gender that's expected?" I don't know how exactly I thought that worked and whether I assumed other people also had all that questioning and just arrived on liking the expected gender because of a hunch, but I did know in that moment that that had been a self-report when I saw the other person's face. I still wouldn't figure out my identity for quite some time, but there was no doubt in my mind that I was queer from the start. Maybe that is similar to Ashley and Mak, who also just knew they weren't straight, and definitely dependant on growing up in a more open environment unlike Alayna.
I had the exact same reaction the first time I heard about pansexuality as a teen! "But doesn't everyone feel that way really and choose to conform to hetrosexuality because of societal pressure?" while I was kissing girls and thinking I was straight. Mental to look back on tbh.
Cats knead blankets etc! (that’s the word you were looking for this refers to the paw motion though) and pica is the disorder when people or animals eat things they shouldn’t. Which is very different from when they knead blankets and suckle them.
34:07 Who else remembers the video where Alayna threw a goodbye party to her bisexuality after she announced her engagement where she looked like she was about to cry the whole time?
The conversation at the end makes me feel like the difference between Mak and Ashley's experiences with men vs. Alayna's experience is maybe similar to a sex-repulsed asexuals vs. an asexual who is not necessarily sex-repulsed
I agree with Ashley! Hot people don’t get to look good in summer AND cold seasons. They should suffer come fall and winter while we suffer in summer. 😂
I think you pull off the sweater vest Ashley! The green one worked very well with the green hat. Though it looks good without it too. The other one did have a better fit with the t-shirt. Maybe the shirt needs a size smaller for the green one.
"I'm just attractive, is the outfit correct?" adorable
‘Do you know anything about zippers ?’ IM DYINGGG what a funny episode
I was dying laughing about the zippers, and then when I had finally calmed down and we started getting serious with Alayna discussing having to break off her engagement, learning she was gay, and beginning to cringe after sharing her story.... an ad popped up with a hetero wedding and I absolutely started dying again at the dark humour timing!!!
"What're you guys talking about when I'm gone?"
"Oh we can't -"
"Zippers"
😂😂😂
19:19 Ashley is pulling it off so well that I could have sworn she’s always worn sweater vests
too true. i thought this as soon as i saw her come in frame.
‘ALEYNA, QUITE, YOU’RE AN ACADEMIC’
i cackled😂😂😭
I liked the green sweater vest, but I'm obsessed with the grey one, ashley looks like shes glowing in that!
This confirms Ashley is a summer color palette I guess 😊
@@marysusansusanI’ve been assessing all their colour seasons as the episodes go by and the outfits change.
Her have the retrospect of looking at her childhood and being like “oh that was me being gay!” Is so relatable
Mak's sudden question of practicality: "Hey do you know anything about zippers?" like it's life or death 🤣🤣🤣
I love how the camera angle makes it look like Mak is DJing every time she uses her keyboard. 😂
“Alayna, quite, you’re an academic” Mac really brought it this epi!!!!
Kneading is when a cat uses their paws to knead on you or a blanket, and that is sometimes accompanied with the sucking of the blanket.
Green vest + hat = perfect combo imo
6:28 Doug is a classic, Ashley. We gotchu. 😂
19:13 another femme saying I like the vest with the hat! Try the hat backwards? Yes to loafers, too.
Ashley I ADORE your sweaters vests, especially the second one!!!! I think they look great on you and was lowkey squealing along with Mak and Alayna lmao
Oh big same!
lol the only thing you're missing Ashley is self-confidence, you can pull anything off as long as you're confident wearing it
also, famous people hire stylists :)
The up close and personal seat to Maks typing hand was actually funnier than it needed to be
green vest - NO HAT, i'm with alayna, grey sweater - no notes. knit sweater - love the colors, agree with bringing in the shoulders to fit.
I fully agree. But I like academic nerdy types...
From the same author who wrote "I have a point of practicality"...
Coming this fall to a cinema near you...
ZIPPERS
Lol are we doing a no intros line of episodes? 😂 I'm like half expecting Ashley to like start screaming and be like "Guys! It's been like 3 episodes and we haven't done an intro! AAAAAAHHHHHH!" 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Ashleyy wear black with the sweater vest! Black straight leg jeans or pants and a black cap. White sneakers to match the tshirt and vest. Blue jeans might work too. You’re welcome
The second one would look so good with a brown leather jacket
This was genuinely one of the best episodes in a long time. And go figure, Mack talked a lot of this episode! You add so much good to this pod, Mack! Mack and Alayna’s back and forth and Ashley loathing it is PERFECTION
I was not prepared for Ashley in a sweater vest. YES to the hat.
This is YOU Ashley! Sweater vests was made for you🔥

“Dry suck” I’m dead 😂😂😂😂
The sweater vest is fabulous! The green looks so nice on you! Maybe backwards hat would work better?
Ashley’s most vulnerable moment captured😭❤️🩹
I love that Alayna was on that sexuality layaway plan.
Bi now, gay later.
The second sweater vest accentuates and compliments Ashley's features so well!

It’s called NEADING and DOUG is the best lol.. love this podcast so much lol 😂
15:59 Mak teaching Alayna social appropriateness 😂
Omg the gray sweater vest. I gasped out loud when you walked in. Keep that one!!!
as someone who loves sweater vest, the outfits are actually really good
Maybe with darker slacks?
(The sweater vest.)
Ooh! And the crochet is nice.
Personally I don’t mind the ‘too wide’ shoulders.
Of course my aesthetics are European, and I’m an old male, so… I am not entirely the right demographic. On the other hand, my (adult) daughters like my fashion advice. 😀
Ashley reinterpreting Alayna’s dream for when she found out she was a lesbian and me thinking that spider in Brazil is one of our nicknames for 🐱.

I love Ashley's jumper so much!
Mac was on fire in this episode. Cracking up the whole time. Ashley. Love the green vest
The “Do you know anything about zippers” already go me, THEN the camera cut to Ashley not there and I died. 10/10 editing
the way i was shouting "kneading dough" the whole start of this episode
Ashley….you look *SOOOOO GOOOOOD* in your new look! 🔥 oh..and style-tip: keep the bigger sleeved t-shirt but roll the sleeve twice, thin + sweatervest & backwards hat! Or no hat. a good day to be procrastinating sleep 💤
No
i’m loving this sweater ashley
ASHLEY SOOOOOO CUUUTE😭😭😭
47:22 'Listen, I know this might be hard to understand because it was even hard for me to understand but like I am much happier since I realized this about myself.'

Alayna!! It's called "cobbing" when a dog or cat nibbles on stuff for comfort!
season one chuck bass is crazy. like damn at least say season 3 😭
10:17 same Alayna, I've never worn a long sleeve shirt since my teen years. I just wear a short sleeve shirt with a hoodie
The drapey thinner fabric of the second vest is definitely a better fit, but they both look cute on ashley ✨ and the sweater looks super comfy~ maybe experiment with a cuffed or rolled sleeve with the green vest, play with the silhouette proportions a little
THE SWEATER VEST IS AWESOME ❤
1:06 you probably think of nooking, but I heard that it was called like that only when it comes to dogs.
Ashley slowly wiggling into frame trying on the sweaters is giving Ralphie in A Christmas Story trying on the pink bunny suit
I think the sweater vest looks great, but as for the hat, *personally* I think the shape of the bill makes a big difference. Even a mostly solid colored hat to match the vest would look good (also this might be unpopular but maybe look into getting a trucker hat? I actually love them and think you’d rock one Ashley)
I know Doug, Ashley!!! Chika-pa-ta pa-ti-ka-chika-pa-pahhhhh!!! (iykyk)
Yessss. As soon as she mentioned him, I did the little transition music out loud. Haha.
Omg I didn't remember Doug until Ashley sang the song. So iconic
P.S. no hat, cuz your hair is just too glorious
ASHLEY I LOVED YOUR OUTFIT.
Yes. You are pulling it off.
The west suits you very well, especially the green colour!
As a "covert fucked up person," I can confirm Alayna doesn't know Alayna
This is a very fun family episode, I love sweater vests!
No hat, Ash! I love Doug Funny and I couldn't stop laughing at the zippers!!! 🤣🤣
The sweater vest looks great! I vote no hat. I’d love to see the whole fit with the loafers because that sounds so cute!
Nothing says "You think you know Alayna? No one knows Alayna" more than Alaynas straight crush on Chuck Bass
the outro was insane.
Ashley looks so so good in the sweater vest they really look god on her.
This was a phenomenal episode
Ashley I love the sweater vest (tbh you could do with or without hat) and it would look cute with like loafers or tennis shoes. Genuinely it’s so nice, and it can be like a casual elevation of style :)
Mom and Baby gotta GO. This is the one time I stand with Ashely on Doug hahaha 😂 how DARE they
Ashley, that vest reminds me you are an engineer. 👍
The hat is so Ashely, gotta do the hat for comfort. I agree loafers also go with !!
For talking about finding your queerness in later years, a very useful concept is compulsive heterosexuality, if you can explain that to them they'll understand where you're coming from
This was the FUNNIEST episode in a long time 😂😂😂
"You look like you're ready for golfing!.....oh, maybe I shouldn't have said that out loud. You look like you should be sitting in front of a Christmas tree!"
"🤦Alayna, you're going to need to run these by me before you say anything else"
Mak was especially hilarious today. And the back and forth about hat/no hat was fantastic 👏
The sensory thing... When i played basketball i couldn't practice with long sleeves. I just couldn't, no matter how lose. That drove me nuts.
Ashleyyy nooo, you look amazing, totally pulling it off, cheff's kiss, beautiful!
Also! Mac- if the whole thingy that zips and puts the sides together has fallen off, you need to fully replace the zipper, but if just the part you hold onto has broken off you can get a piece of leather or ribbon and tie it around the little loop on there to make a little pull to save money and time ❤❤❤
20:10 I get this so much, Ashley is speaking from my soul like I know my face is sexy and my hair is fire but tell me if the fit is good
19:15 Ashley you look good! in that vest. I agree with Aylana that is better without the hat. I think that you should try it with a long sleeve shirt, I usually prefer them that way. But the color combination and the vest itself look very nice on you. ❤
The hat can be good for more informal ocasions, it's not that it looks bad, more like it gives a goofy vibe to me. Also, I think that vest would look even better with a dark colored pant/jean. Just my opinion.
The coming out video of Alayna (the wedding is off) is the video that started my questionning and my coming out as a lesbian at 40 (4 years ago). I was bi for 21 years...but not really. It's a f**king journey with ups and down. I feel like I missed my entire life, like it wasn't my own. But I embrace my authentic self now, I LOVE that I don't have to care about the male gaze anymore (which was actually internalize) and I can dress whatever.
Also some people will say sex isn't always as fun for women and that's okay....which is a super annoying thing to hear and kind of upsetting because you realize they might not have ever had pleasuable sex but at the end of the day they just have to belive you
Ashley, love the sweater vest & tshirt. How about wearing the loafers with it and matching the hat color to the loafers rather than the sweater vest?
“My requisite therapy shawl” -crazy ex girlfriend
Alayna and Mak never getting the pop culture references xD
Fellow sweater vest wearer - it looks great! And the hat works too.
Cats knead blankets etc! (that’s the word you were looking for this refers to the paw motion though) and pica is the disorder when people or animals eat things they shouldn’t. Which is very different from when they knead blankets and suckle them.
It looks good, Ashley! I think that with a smaller white t-shirt would be better on the sleeves
34:07 Who else remembers the video where Alayna threw a goodbye party to her bisexuality after she announced her engagement where she looked like she was about to cry the whole time?
Ashley you truly look so good witht the sweater vest
Ashley, you look GREAT in the sweatervest! With or without hat. I personally prefer with the hat, but either way, it really suits you!
Everyone dress up as sweater vest ashley for halloween
The conversation at the end makes me feel like the difference between Mak and Ashley's experiences with men vs. Alayna's experience is maybe similar to a sex-repulsed asexuals vs. an asexual who is not necessarily sex-repulsed
I agree with Ashley! Hot people don’t get to look good in summer AND cold seasons. They should suffer come fall and winter while we suffer in summer. 😂
"I just can't wear sleeves if it's above 32F" - Alayna reminding us she's Canadian
It really is Doug in the very best way!!!! That’s fantastic!
1:09 my first thought was mommy issues
Ashley! You look fabulous in the new outfit!!! Hat or no hat - both look fantastic!!!🤩
The grey one is THE BEST
I think you pull off the sweater vest Ashley! The green one worked very well with the green hat. Though it looks good without it too. The other one did have a better fit with the t-shirt. Maybe the shirt needs a size smaller for the green one.
