Very impressive light rail system. Denver is another city to realize more roads aren't the answer to move people around.
    Thanks Tim😀💚

such a gorgeous mode of public transport! I remember deciding to try it and felt like my own state was in the Stone Age with how modern everything felt. Hope I can return to Denver soon! absolutely gorgeous

Nice seats! Fun fact: the brick building at 6:35 is an original Ford motor car factory. It was a standard design for their plants across the US. Many have been rehabbed into office buildings.

    Sorry I missed the premiere.
Very interesting system - looks more like a commuter train system rather than LRV. Best part of all ~ it's for FREE. What a good deal for folks, there.
    Thanks for sharing.

It's not normally free, that was just a recent promotion. There are a couple of free bus lines downtown though.

Should show others what a city can build on a budget by using at grade and open trench construction-no tunneling.

I take the R Line to work every day. It's a really nice ride, but unfortunately the stations tend to be in the middle of highways or surrounded by parking and warehouses. These are dirty, loud, exposed, unpleasant stations that are not in walkable areas.
My train only runs once every 30 minutes, and sometimes it is just cancelled because of staffing shortages. And it's not cheap either at $200 for a monthly pass.
I think RTD and Denver could do so much better if the political will was there to fix these problems. Unfortunately, they've been cutting routes, reducing schedules, and privatizing jobs. Better land use, zoning, and proper funding would really go a long way.

i agree 100% as an r line rider, the schedules are often inconsistent and i have to walk quite a bit to/from stations after getting on/off the train

Denver RTD uses similar rolling stock to Sacramento's light rail. However, it seems that Denver cleans the insides much better.

I notice on some of these light rail systems that the trains seem to rely on ramps at the stations for wheelchair access. Some systems, such as Portland, were early adopters of low floor cars, and are currently replacing their oldest high-floor fleet with even more low floor vehicles. Newer systems that popped up in the 2000s, such as Seattle, never had the high floor vehicles. It seems most high floor buses have been retired at the time I’m writing this, and subway cars were always at least somewhat level with the platform. Light rail seems to still lag behind in this respect in some cities, despite low floor versions being around since the mid to late 90s. When do you expect most high floor vehicles on the systems that still run them will be retired?

i'd not expect that to happen for a while, rtd has had the same type of light rail car forever, just getting slightly newer models of the same thing occasionally. i'd predict them to stick with that type of car for a long time still, until they see a really big reason to upgrade

absolutely shocking to see a dog on the light rail, laying on the seat. that's not allowed at all. i certainly never saw that in the years i took the light rail almost daily.

I take the light rail system all the time along with all the women and children that I see along the way. There are some sketchy people at times, but you make it sound absolutely ridiculous.
I also think your keyboard might be broken. 🤔

@@MrC0MPUT3Rit definitely isn't that bad, as long as you're careful of suspicious activity and don't ride past 8-ish, i've met a few suspicious people but never had any serious worries. just would never ride it at night
