Quarantine brought me to this channel. Been binging on World Athletics Championships from 2017 and now 2019. Getting to know all the athletes. Fajdek is the man.
Mine uncontrolable thirst to know everything just a little bit brought me here. Quarantine is over for over a month over here but i'm just eating those videos up. Not that much into athletics lmao
Hammer is my fav Olympic sport. No disrespect to things like running or swimming, but the hammer (along with discus, javelin etc) seems so ancient, these men would have been kings bodyguards millennia ago
And that's not illegal though ... If your foot went outside of the circle they spinning will be foul only , till then you can do anything inside before throw .... :)
That the thing? Duh? You don’t do much pushing the ball when its being released, its mostly rotational force ! And the angle also ! Cause its easier to get higher speeds on lesser angle !
@@christophertubigan2060 if there's a video game of hammer throw, his form/spin looks like a default computer generated throw. Just simply beautiful 17:17

Also in 2022 there are 2 great victories for Poland in the hammer throw! Because in the athletics world championship in 2022 in Eugene, Oregon, Poland's Paweł Fajdek won gold in the hammer throw and Poland's Wojciech Nowicki won silver.
@@Gratia69 well it kinda balances out, as a heavier weight is bound to travel further. Also I notice that the men swing it slightly slower, due to it's higher weight.
@@ivonastrukar4715 nope , the mass of an object does not determine how far it will go (newtons second law). Only its velocity, release angle and gravity. The heavier mass only effects how much energy is required to reach the release velocity.
Harshavardhana B R. Almost - energy would not be the same as kinetic energy is proportional to mass. The mens’ will not be as affected by air resistance, but the difference is not significant.
Well they are also measured in meters so the highs and lows of each group is about 3 to 5 meters difference. I don't think women would ever want to compete against men.
It's actually technique and practice. Attach a softball and rope together(yeah it's not the same as they got but it's close enough). Go out into an open field (baseball field if it's open enough(.. Eh believe it or not it's shotputters. Keep in mind you have alot of time to accelerate the hammer compared to throwing a shotput. These guys are a bit more explosive and stable than shotputters but not nearly as strong because it's not necessary
No shot puters are more strong you don’t have to be very strong to throw far in hammer as long as your turns speed and momentum are great you throwing it far regardless I’ve seen strong people throw like shit
Field dudes are insane. Who volunteers to potentially get struck by an object that would almost certainly kill them!? They even start moving before the thing lands lol
Throwing is actually something that humans absolutely dominate every other animal at, and not just because most animals don't have limbs that can properly grab objects. Even other great apes, which have way more raw strength than humans, can't throw things nearly as far because their body structure simply can't transfer enough power and speed to a thrown object.
Is it just me or did Bigot of France threw ahead of Halasz in his second attempt.? Watch from 10:50 to 10:59 in slow motion. You can clearly see that Bigot's throw lands ahead of the silver medal mark.
The name is derived from a very old implement of war called a "hammerketch". It was a ball with a long chain that would be thrown by a catapult. Later, they started to use a cannon to launch it. Someone had the idea to add a handle and throw it... hence "hammer throw."
No need to watch. I saw other highlights since the champion is featured in the thumbnail. Stop doing that!!! The coverage is marvelous, but your practices are very questionable.
You know what is nuts? If DeAnna price competed in this group with her recent record throw she would be in 2nd place against the men. Quite the athlete she is. I'm sure this was an average day for mens comp so comparing peak performance isn't fair, but still that is funky to think about.
It’s crazy to think the world record is 86.74 meters and these guys are not even close. The power you need to have to get to a level that high it beyond being a monster.
The world record was also set at a time when drug testing was just starting to make its presence felt. Many of us know in our hearts that it’s very likely a tainted record, but there’s nothing to be done about it at this point- much like many running records from the 1970’s and 1980’s that still stand.

It actually isn’t. The gate on one side (the opposite side from the direction they rotate) sits inside the sector line at a specific angle. In terms of the reporters? Because it isn’t here in the U.S. here, we would NEVER allow them to sit in that spot. It’s literally a suicidal position to be in and honestly a stupid idea.
