I drive down from Milwaukee to go to D&D. Owner is really nice as well. Found them for Dettling, and actually picked up some really nice Indian Single malt while I was there. I wish it was closer!
D&D is my local shop and Harry is a great guy with an awesome store! They do tastings and bottle releases there occasionally as well! The store/group pick of the Peerless DO Rye is very good too, supposed to be the first in the state.
That Four Roses sampler for $95 would have been a pick-up for sure! Same with that Dettling single barrel and the Ben Holladay soft red wheat rickhouse proof. I'd have maxed out my budget on that one endcap!
Loch Lomond does a great variety of whisky all of which I have found to be very good, if you fancy trying something a little different but still excellent could I recommend the Indri Trini one of my favourites
That 4 🌹 sampler 😍. I may have to check this place out the next time I'm in Chicago. As for the bonded being more expensive than the cask strength, it's all about the embedded cost of having a bonded warehouse. While taxes are deferred on the product until moved out of the warehouse, there are costs for a bond. My understanding is that it's similar to a surety bond underwritten by an insurance company. Essentially, the producer pays a premium for a specific value of coverage i.e. the value of deferred tax. In the event the producer doesn't pay the deferred taxes, the bond will make the other party whole. Another example of this pricing occurs with Kings County Distillery. I paid $20 more for their bonded expression compared to their barrel strength. My understanding may be flawed so if anyone has a correction please don't hesitate to chime in!!! Cheers!
Interesting. That totally makes sense if that's what's happening. I guess we've gotten spoiled by pricing for these bigger brands like HH and Wilderness Trail.
I had a store pick of the Hughes Belle of Bedford straight rye. It was $70 and good for that but not good enough for me to replace it when it was gone. I sometimes see it on the shelf for significantly more and would not pay up for it. The reviews are great but I've had a lot of Sagamore and New Riff ryes that were better.
I had to pull up and cop a Dettling and a Redwood Empire Pipe Dream Cask Strength. Talked to the owner and mentioned this video, super cool guy. It’s close to home,so I’ll be back.
Good Scotch selection but the prices are little high. Springbank 10 I see for $90 - $95 most places. Same with the Kilkerran 12 year. The Kilchoman 100% Islay Barley is a $110 bottle in the NorthEast. Maybe that's why the selection is so good. However if you can't find them cheaper it's not so much more that I wouldn't buy them. Those Campbeltown bottles are some of the greatest Scotch whiskies available today. Even their IB brand has been killing it recently. That Loch Lomond by the way is the next hot distillery. It's cheap and very different. Well worth checking out
The reason why redwood cat strength is cheaper then bonded is cause it’s younger. Cast strength is 2 and a half years old like the basic offerings the bonded by law is obviously 4 years old. That’s why bonded is more and the same situation with Still Austin
Those Redwood bottles are only 2 years old, and it tastes that good? It's crazy that a few years ago people would have turned their nose up to a 2 year old cask strength.
I believe the redwood cask contains sourced whiskey along with their own distillate. The bonded series is their whiskey 100%
Fantastic video! Amazing store!

We didn't get a chance to meet Harry yet, but he's reached out and wants to meet. Seems like a really solid dude!
Thanks 👍

What's on your list?

Right!? Pretty great store overall. We're happy to have found it.

Great selection and prices. I like Bourbon County Stout and cannot believe they are selling some at $2.99. 🥃
Soooo cheap!
That’s right down the road. Definitely gonna make a stop there.
Happy to be of service 🫡
Fantastic Peerless lineup - send some to Atlanta please! Thanks for the great video guys
Thanks for watching! Hopefully you start to see some in your market soon.
really good prices, especially for a smaller store.

That's a bummer. We've seen people really geek out for it, but we never immediately truly the hype train.
Just wow
that was a pretty good store . some prices were great. had some things that im looking for also . Thanks for sharing . 💯
What caught your eye?

Love to hear that! I'm glad you didn't have to go far to find some stuff you were looking for.

Can you tell us a little bit more about Lamond?

I think the Bonded Redwood Empire is more expensive than the CS because the Bonded is sourced, but the CS is their own. Great video and store. 🥃
Interesting. Have you done a side by side for any of the cs vs bib?
Bonded comes at a higher price than cask from supplier side
New batch of grizzly beast got so much better. Worth a try
We'll have to give it a shot!
@@BondingOverBourbon I haven't. When I saw the CS less than the Bonded. I didn't look for the Bonded anymore.
I stopped in there today to pickup a bottle of Dettling.
Such a solid pour! Great choice.
That RR PS just seating there!
Better grab 'em before it's gone!
@@BondingOverBourbon its over an hour for me, but I’m still thinking about it haha.
There giving away that Goose Island
Great video, minus the grandma techno music
What do you mean by that?
To me MM 46 is the least favorite bourbon in my collection.... Blah!
Dettlings just sitting on the shelf?!? 🫣 That would have gone home with me for sure, never will see that in michigan 🤔 Cheers 🥃
We receive a good amount of dettling cask strength regularly. If you don't find it we usually have it
