Thank you so much! Im a 19 year old girl and asked the local auto shop guys to help me (they couldnt figure it out). I just watched this video and went outside with a screwdriver and did it myself in about 5 minutes! THANK YOU! simple clear instructions and now i know for the future thank you
Yes!!! You should be proud of yourself and i know that savings feels good in your pocket! That's what I'm talking about.....saving money on these kinds of jobs is so nice. Thank you so much for sharing that with me and other viewers. I really appreciate you watching and commenting....thanks Oscar!
You sir are my hero. Took way less than 5 minutes to swap out my turn signal bulb on my 2007 Camry. I had to laugh as the car is nearly 16 years old and that is the first bulb I have had to replace (replacement of headlight does not count).
Thanks for the videos. I changed headlight fixtures yesterday and then went back in today to change the marker bulbs which only took a couple minutes with your help.
Just stumbled on to this and what a relief. A huge thank you sir for not only a clear demonstration of how to execute this process but saving me the trouble of removing the entire front bumper and also save me a $125 bill to the mechanic. I hope you have an awesome day and a wonderful life.
Dennis, my other-half wanted me to let you know your video is great. This afternoon, I told her I’d be a while doing whatever I was doing (important stuff). During that time, she viewed your video, went outside with a screwdriver, flashlight, and a replacement bulb, and did the job. I came in at the end to assist - turning on the lights to test. Thanks.
Thank you so much for this video. The shop was going to charge my daughter $16 per bulb to replace. I was able to do this and the license plate bulbs in about an hour. Great video and explanation !! Be well.
Thanks!!!!after I watched your video I was able to change my defective head bulb in less than a minute. You made me save some money, I did not have to go to my mechanic.
Thank you for this well-described video. Having seen all the helpful step-by-step's in advance, I was also able to do this in 5min or so without any surprises/hiccups. Thank you!
Thanks for the video. The leading edge wheel well fastener is locked in when the slot is horizontal. Rotate it vertically to pull it out. You can tell by the shape of the holes in the clip the pin fits through (round with slots at 12 and 6). Because of this, if you do pry the center pin out when the slot is horizontal, it will probably break or be so distorted and chewed up , it won't stay in place on re-insertion. But they can be tricky to lock back in as they want to twist instead of cleanly rotating. Maybe a slight film of grease on the outer legs and the back hole in the clip would help them turn more easily . I would recommend changing the side marker light while you're in there, to avoid having to do the same job again. It's a separate socket with a small bayonet style bulb (T10, W5W, 194, 198), also amber colored. I also prefer to add dielectric (light bulb) grease to bulb contacts and wearing gloves to keep oils off the bulb glass.
Thanks Dennis, I was actually able to remove my left side marker housing and bulb without taking the front bumper apart . I removed the turn signal bulb first. And was able to get a skinny long screwdriver in the top and start the counterclockwise quarter turn of marker housing fixture . Success !
Just crawled under there and changed it. It cost me $5 for 2 bulbs and another $12 for a set of plastic tools that I can use again. Thanks for a great video. I used to have to go to the library and find a service manual before tackling something like this.
Thanks for watching, Nelson! I agree....a turn signals bulb should be accessible from the engine compartment and it should only take a minute to change it. They could have done a better job.
I am glad I watched your video before going to an Auto Store because there is no way I can do this. I slide into a car on ice going 15 mph, which would have only put a dent in the bumper of a metal car! ($3400 repair bill). I usually listen to the radio, yesterday I did not and heard the left signal problem. Now, I plan to phone my Insurance company back and report this because I believe the repair shop either caused or missed this. The headlamps worked when I checked the car out following the accident yet they changed one anyway. I bought the car now, and only have 64,000 miles (maybe) on this car. Your video saved me time and perhaps money in the long term. I subcribed to you just in case there is anything else I need to know. You are very easy to understand and follow.
Really good video. Way to get shots in those hard to reach places while you are doing things. It is the bulb on the end of the housing, but I would point out that the this is the bulb with three wires on the back if you just in there feeling around in the dark(likely). The others have two. Also, as mentioned in the comments, the first clip that you pop is set up to pop out one way, with the slot aligned horizontal. Turn it to vertical once pushed in to lock.
Very awesome! IThanks for sharing your video I tried it myself simple wasn't hard for me to do and I'm a women never thought I will be getting my hands dirty. God bless! Keep up the good work
Hi Dennis, thanks for all the advice. By the way people complain about noisy wipers.I turned the blade around and noise stopped. You probably know that trick.
Thanks for the video. I will be using it soon to replace the indicator bulbs. Weird my low beams(2) and indicators(2) all went out at the same time. Fuse was fine. If it happens again I will check my stereo installation from a year ago.
great video. you did a good job recording the inside area when you stuck your hand in there. My blinker bulb burned out this past weekend on my 07 camry for the first time. When I tried to go in there from the top when I opened my hood I notice there was absolutely no way to get to the bulb, I was wondering how in the world I was going to be able to get to it. This video was very helpful. thanks a lot.
Thanks Dennis! I looked at the rear signal bulb replacement and this was brilliant! Same for the front which made things a lot human. Saved me a lot of hassle and anxiety. Be safe!
Great video, was perfect and it was simple. Make sure bulb is fastened tight before put it back in because if it falls off it’s a B to get out of the light cover.
Junior, that is a GREAT point! If you drop the bulb into the housing, you probably have to take the light assembly out to remove the bulb. That's not a small job on this car. Thanks very much for watching!
Thank You. This procedure also works on 2006 Toyota Avalon, side marker bulb, very hard to turn CCW, was able to get regular pliers on just enough to turn. Thanks Again
Great, thanks for sharing that! Yes, some of these bulb sockets are very hard to remove...I've had to use pliers to remove a couple of them. Thanks for watching!
Great video! I did this the other day on my Camry. Really think Toyota could've design things a bit better! Not an easy side of the road fix if you get a bulb blow on a road trip. Luckily the bulbs seem to last a while.
Thank you for watching! I agree completely! A little more thought into it on Toyota's part could have surely come up with a way to change a bulb that didn't require removing the fender skirt.
Hi Peter, thanks for watching! I'm not familiar with the Aurion as it is/was mostly sold in Australia and Asia. I'm in the US. But....it appears that it is a 'luxury' version of the Camry, so I'd think most bulbs etc are similar. I also understand that Toyota changed some of the Camry front and rear treatments to make the Aurion, so I can't tell if that affected bulbs etc. I'm sorry I can't be more help, but if I had to guess, I'd say the process and bulbs will be the same or at least very similar.
@@dwcoffey have you ever run across the bulb not fitting into the socket? When I pulled the old one out of the socket after rotating it slightly counterclockwise I notice the bulb was broke. I can only guess that part of the socket was melted due to heat from the bulb. Looks like I’ll need to get into the housing of the bulb.
If your model has a small bulb on the outside of the turn signal bulb, yes...same procedure. If you are talking about the bulbs closer to the middle of the car, I have another video showing how to replace them. th-cam.com/video/f1JHnW8Ruek/w-d-xo.html
I spent all day today trying to remove the side marker bulb on my 2011 Camry and wasn’t able to. The blinker bulb comes off easy but I can’t remove that dang side marker bulb. Can you help or give me any useful tips?
Hi Marco, thanks for watching! It should come out the same as the the blinker bulb socket. I wish I had a trick for you sir, but I don't . It should come out by turning it counter-clockwise.
The original bulb I removed from my 2011 is replaced with #7440 (it doesn’t have the black plastic at the base of the bulb)...but when I installed it, only the blinker works, not the steady parking light that should come in with the headlights? Thanks for the help!
I looked up the reference for a 2011, and yes, it looks like 7440 is the correct bulb for your car. Does the other side parking light come on...or, did you keep the original bulb that was replaced? You might be able to compare the 2 bulbs and figure out the difference. In a 2009, the 3457 bulbs are 2-filament bulbs, one for parking lights and one for turn signal But I think the 7440 is a single filament bulb...so....if the other side is working as it should, maybe the replacement bulb is defective?
Hey thanks for the reply! The other light does come on, but it would make sense for me to verify what bulb is there. I noticed the same regarding the single filament, but the bulb I removed was factory, matching the 7440, so I’m not sure. Love my Camry, but damn they don’t make this easy! Thanks again, I’ll report back when I have another chance to look at the other side!
Dennis - It turns out there is a secondary light just above the turning signal light. I can’t even see it from the wheel well, or from under the hood, let alone reach it, any suggestions?
would taking off the bumper be of any help during this process? im changing my headlight assembly so im going to have to take it out regardless. just curious if you think it will help
btw youre a great teacher. some people can make something this simple a algebra equation. you helped me put LED’s in & all, gotta say you keep it simple!
Thanks for watching, CJ! And I really appreciate the kind comment! If you were just changing the turn signal or the side marker bulbs, I don't think removing the bumper cover would give you any better access. Taking it off basically just gives you access to the screws holding the headlight assembly in. Since you'll have the headlight assemblies out anyway, that will definitely give you the best access! :)
Thanks, Lloyd. My local auto parts store gave me the 7440A bulb for my 2011 Camry as well. I was afraid I was going to have to get the one Dennis recommended. Thanks for sharing.
Yes sir! Although I did not point it out, you can actually see the side marker bulb socket just to the left of my turn signal socket in the video. Same process and the side marker socket comes in/out the same way. I believe it is a 194 bulb. Thanks for watching, Richard!
One tip to add. Housing is 2 pieces and has some play. So when you pull out the housing and it doesn’t naturally hang (wiring has tension), you are making the housing a little shorter and the bulb won’t pop right in. If the wiring is tight because you only undid one screw to access the bulb, you’ll have this issue. You have to make sure to push the round part of the housing down (squeeze) and pop the bulb in. This took me a lot of time to figure out since my bulb wouldn’t go all the way down and click in place.
Hello Dennis! Thank you for the great video. I have a 07 Camry. The technician could not make it work (the new signal bulb did not work when he turned on my car). He asked me to bring my car to the alarm center. Do you know why? or any thought?
hmmmmm.....I don't specifically know, but sounds like he thinks there's a problem with how the light is tied into the alarm system. I am not familiar with the alarms on these cars at all, but most are tied into the lighting circuits (through a computer module, I presume) so that when the alarm is tripped, the lights flash off and on. there is probably supposed to be a permissive through the alarm control module that allows the turn signals to function properly when no alarm condition exists, and it sounds like he thinks that where the fault is. I've never run into that....but based on what he told you, sounds like that might be the case.
I have noticed that these fender screws tend to be flimsy and pop out sometimes for some of my customers. Don't know if it's because they changed the bulb or not but I think it is.
I can take out the parking bulb, but the signal bulb was too close to the corner. Also I don’t have enough space to counter-clock wise. My Camry was 2007.
Updated. Actually my right rear signal was blinking so fast & front right signal was dead. So I changed my rear signal bulb and it also fixed the front right signal.

Thanks for watching Robert! I appreciate it!

This video really helped. Thank you.
Thank you for watching!

Thanks for the information! You made it easy to understand 👍
Great video! Thank you! Just for those who have 2011 Toyota Camry, 7440ALL might be your choice. 3457A won't fit my 2011.
Great info Lloyd! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Lloyd. My local auto parts store gave me the 7440A bulb for my 2011 Camry as well. I was afraid I was going to have to get the one Dennis recommended. Thanks for sharing.
Same process for the front side indicator lights? My turn signals are fine, but one of my side indicator light bulbs has burned out.
Yes sir! Although I did not point it out, you can actually see the side marker bulb socket just to the left of my turn signal socket in the video. Same process and the side marker socket comes in/out the same way. I believe it is a 194 bulb. Thanks for watching, Richard!
@@dwcoffey thank you so much!
Great job. Thank you very much. Made my job much easier.
Thank you for watching! I'm glad it helped.
Hi! Can you please tell me what numbers I need for the rear turn signal? ☺️
Thanks for watching! I have a video that covers the rear bulbs and turn signals: th-cam.com/video/jow2E5QQ740/w-d-xo.html
Dennis Coffey okay thanks! 👍🏼😉
Let me know if that doesn't help you. I'll do my best to help.
Thanks for watching, Mark!
Thank you just changed the bulb
Thanks for watching!
Can you also change the parking light the same way? I have a 2011 camry LE
Yes, I believe the parking light and the turn signal light are the same bulb.
Dennis Coffey I have a 2011 le Camry but the light are two different ones I was just trying to change the parking light but no luck
Dennis Coffey NO. That’s wrong. The side marker light is a 5 watt, wedge base bulb.
SuperstarNylahGamer Jewel The side marker light is a 5 watt, wedge base bulb. It’s separate from the turn signal.
Thank you very much Dennis. I hope they can fix it.

How do you change the front parking brake light?
Hi, thanks for watching! There are no front brake lights, so I'm not sure which bulb you are asking about?
If your talking about the side marker bulb then its the same way except its just a lil above the turn signal bulb
Hi, does this apply for 2013 hybrid as well?
I'm sorry but I am not sure. I don't have any experience with a 2013 model.
Good info. Thank you
Thank you for watching, Jacky!
I have noticed that these fender screws tend to be flimsy and pop out sometimes for some of my customers. Don't know if it's because they changed the bulb or not but I think it is.
I expect you are right. They probably strip the threads when they put it back together. Thanks for watching!
Great Video Thanks
Thank you for watching!
Really good video
Thank you very much Paresh. I appreciate you watching!
Would this be similar to a 2012 camry? I've been searching youtube for it, but to no avail.
I'm sorry but I don't know. I'm not familiar with the 2012 Camry at all.
Glad you got it fixed! Thanks for watching!
Perfect and thank you!
Thanks for watching, Gene!
