Kenny, Joey and Cole the holy trinity. (Jiddy Jid and Denzel up there along with hundreds of rappers not named Drake.
I don’t get the argument that Joey is coming in at a bad time . Y’all would’ve said he was riding the wave of the hype if he dropped this at all during 2024 . He let the West have they year , and he tired of hearing it. He wants the east to be what it once was ,and he say he back to save his sound

Still salty from a line in a verse that's over a decade old, but it was crickets a few years back when that 69 character was running around claiming to be the King of NY with 50 Cent's cosign? 😂 Yeah, that makes sense...LOL

As much as it pains me to make the comparison, Joey seems similar to Lil Dicky in how he used hip hop to break into the film & television industry. Joey’s always been just an alright rapper. That doesn’t mean he didn’t have amazing lyrics and songs and albums but he’s a moments guy. 1999, a moment. Troy Ave beef, a moment. Saying he’s a better lyricist than Pac, moment. Lying about staring into a solar eclipse to get off Logic’s tour, punching paparazzi, dropping 2000, fighting his photographer… moments, moments moments. Joey claims King of NY but won’t ever speak on/respond to Dyme A Duzin.
I'll respond to Mr. BADass in the voice of Tyler the Creator, all while $0.50 cents is mean mugging from the sidelines. "LaFerrari popping on the 40 with the 5 (Huh), One ticket, two ticket, three ticket, four million, Put that lil' Maybach truck in the garage, huh". We all know that attempt at dissing was actually a disservice. Probably it was an unspoken clause in your Raising Kanan reup.

We are all grown man. Some of us have the emotional IQ to give and receive criticism. As participants in Hip Hop culture (I as a rapper, producer, and teacher for 20 years+) it is our responsibility to challenge the norms and continue it's evolution to the best of our ability. Sitting by and saying nothing as the people that don't look like us dictate it's new rules it irresponsible. Not doing that at all.
All our legends die or get outcasted like Tyler for over a decade and paving their own way..... But we get one year and it's "too much". HOW IS THERE "TOO MUCH WEST COAST D LICKING" AND KENDRICK HAD TO POP OUT SO PPL STOPPED COMPARING FUCKIN ANITA TO EM???

I fucks with you Curtiss but callin music “content” is not something I would ever hear you say. Music is music… always has and always will be. The person you were talkin to I salute them. The problem today is artist aren’t artist, they create content more than music.. and not the other way around
@@carldavies4990 Respect, fam. I get where you’re coming from. I struggled with this too. As creators, music is deeply personal, so calling it “content” can feel disrespectful. But from the consumer’s perspective, content simply means something they engage with. It doesn’t diminish the art; it’s just how they experience and interact with it.
@ although content may be something they engage with, the word “content” carries a reductive connotation when applied to music/art. That word tends to group all forms of creative expression together. When we call art “content” we diminish its value and reduce it to a product created just for consumption… rather than a form of expression meant to inspire.
@@carldavies4990We can’t decide what definitions fit which words just because the internet exist and we have bias. Content is any media, service or good available for consumers. You don’t have to like the definition, but it exist the same either way. It’s like how many Americans conflate ignorant with rudeness and loud behavior. Music is content, videos are content, movies, art, books, makeup, medicine, photos, blogs, memes, it’s ALL content.
@@Siculidee you’re missing the point. It’s not the definition of the word, it’s the context it’s used in. This isn’t about bias; it’s about recognizing language shapes perception. To your analogy: just as it’s important to clarify misunderstandings around the word “ignorant”, it’s also important to challenge how we frame words like “content” when they don’t express the essence of what we are describing. Words carry weight… and I believe you actually made that point for me.

I don’t get it. If it was anybody but Kendrick ya would be championing this. I hate the biasness and Curtis I’m disappointed in you bro. Maybe u never wanted the crown and that’s why you’re taking the stance you’re taking 🤷🏽♂️
After two decades of the South running hip-hop, anyone popping out with "too much west coast d-licking" is rightfully going to receive questions and confusion about the timing. It's been about two decades of domination from the south. Was he asleep all this time? Did the crown not matter a decade ago?

He put out an extremely dope album - All Amerikkkan Badass which was full of positivity , thought provoking, went on and did his thing in raising Kanan as Unique, then popped out on a feature with Conway where All of a sudden he's changing his whole persona ( unique) and referencing Subject matter he had neeeever done, before , got bopped upside the head by some dude at retail store last week, and now has decided to take shots at the West Coast... this cat really think he's "Unique" in real life now. Smh
I know I'm not the only one that feel this way but my days out who was like several years late.
Joey Badass has always been overrated and hyped to death. Dude is at best average imo
I think Joey is slept on and just taking this window of opportunity to show what’s up his sleeve.
If Kendrick engages I think he’ll take the W but it would be a good way for Joey to sharpen up his skills.
Win or lose, taking the fade against the champ deserves respect.
That’s what I said. Either drake or 50
Late to the party🥴🤣
Joey Bad$$ vs K Dot is everything J Cloe fans thought it would be with him
Kendrick watching the party die and this dude coming too late. The party is over, Joey ! 😂
Bro this shit was SPOT ON!
Honestly to me I love the competition aspect too but I feel like Joey talking about he’s the king of New York he need to clean his backyard in New York if you’re the king cuz it’s alot of bullshit that’s in New York now and that’s need to be taken care of first before attacking the west and especially Kendrick which is the king of this shit right now or he should be coming at the south tho too cuz they’re the ones who provided some of the dopest shit but also some of the worst shit we’ve ever heard
Funny that kendrick pushed his album release date in the oast to let joey have a moment, i do hope this will energize joey.
Facts I agree thank you timing would have been great mentioning the West Coast and Kendrick who’s #1 in the world now… that will draw immediate attention to Joey or anyone throwing shade now Joey is a good lyricist if this was fire then perfect timing but this ain’t it… he’s has bars 🥰⚜️
Wassup with Conductor, he got animosity for Kendrick?!
It’s simple here just lyrical exercise
They can't comprehend 🤦🏾♂️
Late and early is hilarious 😂😂
And idk if this is a diss or just light jabs. I’m fine with competition but know your weight class. The song needed to be bulletproof to go at Kendrick right now and I like Joey but it wasn’t enough.
I like your content, keep - up, the good- job,+( lol!!!) 😅😅😍😍😍😁😁😁😎😂😆🤔🤔💯💯💯💯
I thought hip hop was a sport ?? What happened. Been a dot fan since TRAINING DAY/ C4 days.
So dot “fans” have a problem someone came out of no where and said “hey I’m a competitor” and now it’s “uh..well..you see..”.
💯
@@CapaBrown713 ppl feel like it's bad timing. I think ppl just isn't taking ny rappers seriously anymore. But let's go by hip hop is a sport take. Joey Badass need more to go after the top. Kendrick is too high. It's like boxing. You retired then want to come back for the belt. Naw you gotta build up your resume for the championship fight
@@freeweights101 This exactly how I feel about it. Your points is right on the money for me
Joey approach seems weak. He ain’t have this energy for the south or Drake when they’re the ones who were in the top spot the last 10 years.
@ replace Kendrick with Joey and drake with Kendrick? What’s the issue now? It seems nowadays like y’all need entertainment on your own schedule.
I hope Joey drops an actual diss.
Kdot Joey and Soulo go way back he isn’t addressing anything recent just bringing back competitive rap. He putting his coast back on the map. He is the only one who actually understood the Control verse back then he dropped the best response in Killuminati part 2 Kdot even said it himself they will always be tight.
Control was over a decade ago. Where has Joey been while the South and the Canadian have been running hip-hop? Was he not concerned about his coast these past several years? I guess that concern just popped up in the last 6 or 7 months, now that the West has been up, cause the previous 10 years....🦗🦗
@ Where have you been when he dropped Escape From New York, The Light Pack and 2000???? The Canadian is completely irrelevant hasn’t been running anything ever all his fans are 10 years old. Kenny, Joey and Cole the holy trinity. (Jiddy Jid and Denzel up there along with hundreds of rappers not named Drake.
Late and early the party. 😂😂😂
I don’t get the argument that Joey is coming in at a bad time . Y’all would’ve said he was riding the wave of the hype if he dropped this at all during 2024 . He let the West have they year , and he tired of hearing it. He wants the east to be what it once was ,and he say he back to save his sound
West ain’t have a year since 2014. Why didn’t he come for Drake or the south when they been running it for 10+ years.
You have to challenge the south if bringing NY back is really your goal.
A new Raising Kanan season must be dropping soon. 50 been in his ear
If Kendrick claps back right now Joey's instantly polarized because Kendrick is Huge right now he is Hip Hop every discussion in Hip Hop is around him right now so he gets polarized or he double downs if Kendrick doesnt respond then he can wear that on his head like a trophy because Kendrick didnt want none So joey just hopped in the booth to steal a free one
People have short memories!!🤣🤣🤣 Remember, back in like 2016. Kendrick dropped that control verse. Saying that he was the King of NY??!!!!! Joey responded with illuminati 2! Kendrick never responded. Joey is letting him know that he still remembers.
💯 Real ones know
Still salty from a line in a verse that's over a decade old, but it was crickets a few years back when that 69 character was running around claiming to be the King of NY with 50 Cent's cosign? 😂 Yeah, that makes sense...LOL
2013 not 16
2013 not 16
@@_NoHandle_yeah they let 69 become the king of NY lol. Every NY artist was quiet as a mouse
I appreciate this video, Curtiss. Perspective and information are important. Before listening to your take, all I heard in his song was sulking. I still do, but not with the same irritation. ;)
17:00 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
It's not enough.......😊
Comments furthering bruh point, straight d lickin. This real rap and lovely to see some actual competition come up. Drake and cole were some scrubs, Joey can spit
Could it just be a call to arms for New York rappers out here trying to sound like everywhere else but New York?
Punching with his eyes closed 😅😅😅😅
Glazing with his eyes closed
Could you let rap be rap , and stop dictating who what when and where , Artist do what an Artist do , if you don't like it don't listen, it's that simple , these are Grown men not your kids to direct lol,
We are all grown man.
💯🔥
🎯
Tell em 50 did it... like waaahhh 👶...50 deep but it aint deep enuff 😅
Kendrick could use this exact same lyrics and people would act like it's the coldest shit ever 😂😂😂 i never understood that it's like the lil wayne syndrome
50 CENTS is messy
I appreciate your thoughts/perspective on this. I agree. The South snatched the rap game from New Yorkers and not once did anyone jump out the window to say “It’s been too much 🍆 licking..” for the past 20 years😳😳😳😳 but the energy swings to the west coast this past few months and suddenly shots firing at the west???
another Drake actor
He's very- late- huh???!!+(lol!!!)😎😎😎😂😆😆🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔💯💯💯💯
I'm so glad I watch this video because I was tripping about this the ruler is back but I see it different know he trying to get the hole rap game popin cause now the south gonna feel left out 😅😅😅 let's go
I fucks with you Curtiss but callin music “content” is not something I would ever hear you say.
He said it because Nas was working with Dre I think. I could be wrong.
Why hasn’t he said anything about the south dominating for the last decade or so? One year of the west and he’s feeling this way 😭😭
LISTEN TO GNX IT IS BIGGER THAN JOEY 😂 NO WORRIES IN THE WEST KEEP THAT STEP-CHILD ENERGY IN NY.
he aint late he didnt wanna be part of drake v kendrick he wants west vs east again joey and tyler are chill so its prolly just friendly competition
I know right. All these lil fans getting all defensive, and it's all just healthy competition. Talking about "Kendrick already bodied Drake". Ok? What the hell that gotta do with Joey? 😂
Love Joey’s music, but this just screams “I wanna be relevant” or “ I have an album coming out soon” cause tbh, who tf was looking for this?
14:32 - That part.
Rappers without content are like gossipers who just talk about people and other people business because they "lack big ideas".......
I hope folks are bout done talking about this, I want him and this out my algo so bad. I see mixed comments so Im hopeful. The only silver lining is seeing reactions and chatter about this everywhere has made me go back and enjoy Euphoria reactions again for the 1000th time after not having watched them in awhile. So other than the appetite this topic gives me to go back and enjoy the battle again and find reactions I hadn't seen before along the way, I could really do without having him in my algo, but I know y'all have to eat so I stick around, but the knee jerk reaction to unsub and select do not recommend when I see this is hilarious 😂
It's an excuse to avoid making actual songs 3 minutes or longer; or an album with music 40 minutes or so and 10-12 songs. It's just a bunch of TikTok "demo" dudes.
This is the first time I've really, really listened to the bars that Joey is dropping, and he's making it sound like... Well. First of all, it sounds like he was waiting for an excuse to jump in but no one gave him one. But it also sounds like he's trying to make it sound like someone was taking shots at him... But nobody really cares about him like that?
I love the record because he's a lyricist. Feels like hip hop is on point this year so far
Maybe it’s me - but the beat kinda boring for what he tryna say 😂 still a fan though
Timing sus!
JOEY BADA$$ know this real rap and gonna talk his 🤫🔥🔥🔥🔥
Kendrick shots are cool but using to much westcoast etc line is now positioned as you going at the whole coast n I don’t think that’s his intentions but now it’s broad n leaves himself open for attacks from everyone on that side
I disagree. Great record.
