    Purchased REW and the mic, a few years ago watched some how to's not going to try it for now. My laptop has VGA video out only. I did run Yamaha Cal. systen is 5.2.2.

    Great video on showing how to run ARC Genesis! Thanks!
    Question: do you recall the volume level on your unit when sampling/playing Ready Player One movie?

    Have you got into using REW at all? Personally I like to to a full calibration completely manually. especially the low end. Auto EQ systems typically struggle with time alignment.

    • @GeorgeTheaterAtHome
      @GeorgeTheaterAtHome  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ve tried it out a little bit. I need to spend more time with it to figure out how to really utilize it fully.

      @@GeorgeTheaterAtHome I think the biggest benefit (if you are able to take sweeps) is using the alignment tool to align phase for all of your low end/subs. Usually just adjusting delays and inverting if necessary. Without this, you are definitely leaving bass on the table. Or overworking your drivers.
      You can go even further doing your own eq. But that takes a bit of experience to do that smoothly. (I know I do things different than at first)

    Might be nitpicking, but the mic stand seems to be a bit in the signal path.
    Also, for optimal measurement effect,I personally always put my seats in the position I watch movies, which for me, is with the back tilted and the feet up.
    The seatings backrest, will definitely cause reflections this close to the mike, might want to avoid these.
    Apart from this, good to see that stuff is back to normal again.

    For my edification, did the update provide a marked improvement or were you more relieved the calibration returned your prior sonic experience?

      I would say it’s probably roughly the same as what I had before.

    2:10 has long as aware of crest effect when mic is placed that low on a seat with it near to seat back and are aware of crest effect as mics are usually placed a little higher 3:43 get 4m extension USB cable ( very cheap ) so you can move that mix anywhere within the room ,
    maybe fancy at video editing but mix placement , cinema usually uses multiplex mics when projectionist with warner bros , ( retied now ) i use multiplexing which can be anywhere from , one mic to twenty-four mics ( soon )
    your better of doing it with REW pink noise in RTA real time and you see when moving mic between the open voids between the seats that takes doing it over and over again to see slight change in frequency rise and dip
    diy cheap binaural dummy head connected PC with two REW open one for left-ch-ear / right-ch-ear and when turning the dummy head will see the change in centre channel frequency and so on and so on , we don't listen like a single mix we hear it on both ears what freq is reflecting from which walls floor ceiling and so on , they should sell free dummy heads with mics , but actual listening with REW multi-tone ( which can be customised its technical long task ) it shows which speakers bass on the surrounds and so on , its technical ,i did it last night and showed interesting resits with Eq crown CTs amplifier
    btw took the sound guy at warner bros 12 plex , two days to Eq 2969 x-curve each auditorium that is all done in projection room which is one long floor all Dolby CP500 with few dts in some screens , two days now think about that
    if move that mic carefully again which why some freq are dipping and may over Eq and its hard to explain typing this can only be done in actual video to verbalise the tone
    13:44 explain to me why i don't see projector screen light reflecting on your glasses , are you faking this , you don' pan the camera around to show even few sec at the screen , sorry i think this part is fake

    Hi! I have a question when doing ARC Gen.calibration. Do you need to use the dial knob on the subwoofer or you just need the ARC Genesis to do the adjustment by itself?

    • @GeorgeTheaterAtHome
      @GeorgeTheaterAtHome  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Set your sub volume dial at about 50% and then let ARC do the rest.

    Interesting,that ARC /Anthem let you set top middle and top Front Atmos.I think with my Marantz i could only select top Rear and top Front.

    I could be wrong, but I don’t think you have to re-run arc on every firmware update. Glad you got it figured out, but it should be able to use an older calibration with newer firmware. Maybe it was just a bug of this update?

    I dont know what you did but i got the avm90 and set my anthem to auto up date it would be stupid for a corporation send an update and you must run arc genesis each time to pay this amount of money and do this is insane now if you want to its a different option i got 2 profile and more in the future but at my time and ready...i didn't quite understand you saying you had to because of a n upload which didn't make sense because its saved in you system anyway im glad what ever happened it worked out.great video anyway for those new to anthem arc genesis

      It's not a update that comes in on the avr or prosser, it's for the arc software on your laptop to run calibration.

    Why did you go front left mic 2 position then you went position 3 to right inline with position 1 ? That is incorrect 2 and 3 must be left and right in front of 1 position and 4 and 5 left and right behind 1 and higher than 1 !

    When was the update on ARC Genesis?

  • @charlesgreene9434

    This just my opinion. To me the goal has always been to have the sound mix as close to the original intent. For example…..Super Mario Brothers was mixed at Skywalker Sound. I want the mix to sound exactly like this in my home theater. No more no less. This why I got my Trinnov calibrated by a Trinnov dealer.

      Thats not really possible to do on a 1:1 basis because your room is different from theirs. Probably significantly different.
      The best you can hope for is accurate frequency response and proper object placement. Even that is somewhat nebulous as people are beginning to find out.

  • @hollywoodcinema6704

    Please, never use Dolby Audio post Processing mode in cinema, music or night mode because in any case, you will compress your sound and harm the overall sound image of your system. If you want to enjoy the real sound of recordings on your Anthem system like post production while benefiting from sound without compression, I recommend that you set the Dolby Audio Post Processing mode to (NONE) and you will be surprised to discover with a few tests everything you lost in sound quality in other modes. Note: In NONE mode you will have to increase the volume by around 8 db but you will see such a difference in sound quality, both in height and width that you will never use these other modes again. I am sure that you will rediscover your Anthem if you listen to this advice because I myself made the mistake for almost a year and since I removed this mode, I finally rediscover my MRX1140 as it should have played from the beginning.

    I helped a friend re-run ARC when Genesis came out and man does the phase aliament take forever. It measures each speaker with each sub at different phase angles and at each position. But its worth it in the end.

    • @GeorgeTheaterAtHome

      It did take a long time! My laptop battery started to die in the middle of it and I had to scramble to find the charger because I didn’t want to have to start over.

    • @Cgjubhfhnybjkn
      @Cgjubhfhnybjkn 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You’re right, it does take a while but the latest version only measures each sub to the front left and right channels and chooses the phase that gives the highest average SPL for that particular sub.

    • @Samzep
      @Samzep 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Cgjubhfhnybjkn it doesn’t take long he doesn’t know arc very well he created 2 profiles with subs and then he ran phase no need all that does is the phase is doing both profiles for nothing one profile run phase then you can create a sub stereo or 5.1 ect

    • @Cgjubhfhnybjkn
      @Cgjubhfhnybjkn 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree, shouldn’t take longer than 10-15 minutes, and that’s if you have 4 independent subwoofers. Only reason it would take a severely long time is if there’s a background noise, or some other issue, where it does things all over again.

      @@Cgjubhfhnybjkn you didn’t read what I said watch his video again he created 2 profiles both profiles have subs in them so when he ran phase arc does both profiles waste of time run one profile run phase then when finished create second profile or whatever
