many parts of the game are missing, probably assembled without the deaths and without chases of the Alien .. removing the best parts ... and in any case quite useless since the level is beginner
This game took me way too long to beat because I was constantly hiding in objects or behind them and waiting and waiting but never feeling safe to leave lol
With no in-game timer I can only estimate that it took me like 16 or more hours to beat this game. I just watched disount Adam Driver do it in under half an hour. What a badass.
we all did... even he most likely without abusing glitches. one thing that really helped was to avoid lockers. they are deathtraps that make progress extremely hard to archieve
@@DolanDuking At the very beginning after Axel gets killed where you call the train, the alien is actually active and will respond to you running or making noise any other way (throwing a flare). Him running here and not attracting the alien tells me it was just random luck with the director AI, or he was playing on an easier difficulty.

No joke, it took me 9 years (2015-2023) to finally beat this game today, and the first thing I wanted to watch after completing the game was a speedrun, and you didn't disappoint, amazing run!
in the actual game theres no chance of the alien actually catching you at that point, its all scripted until the moment you see the xenomorph drop out the vent ages later
idk why I love runs like this on low speed games where you get to see just absolute peak performance of simple walking patterns and the ways to skip ahead despite that. I love how in this universe Ripley doesn't even know there's an alien until it grabs her at the end
i was really confused bc i was thinking how tf is he doing this in only 23 minutes? but i didn’t know you could clip through thing a skip large bits of the game. clever, really.

I used to tell people that if they hid in a locker for 1 hour they would unlock the stealth suit or that if they bang on a wall with the wrench 10 times fast they would unlock infinite ammo
When I play this game, I get on and take 10 minutes to figure out where I am in the story and what my objective is, progress 5 minutes into the story, get scared and hide in a locker for 20 minutes, progress 30 more seconds and then quit so my heart can take a break.
Yeah you know a story is bad when you don't even understand in what part you are on. I swear I've seen better story telling in low budget indie games like Bendy and the dark revival (Wich, while not having an alien isolation kind of gameplay, I still highly recommend)
He used the force well ... too bad had to be caught by Alien but that was part of the game. Wonder how the dark side of the force would have helped with the Xenos?
I should also mention that it’s interesting that the exploits here remind me a lot of what you can do in Metroid, since the game itself is also a lot like Metroid
what it's supposed to mean is any % of the LEGIT game played - as in, no need for all missions or sidequests or inventory IF you can pass the game without them. taking advantage of glitches? passing through walls? that's not playing the game.

I think I saw a speedrun were you can complete it in less than 10 minutes......he went directly to the Station Maintenance door as you did, and then also crouched through some window to get out into space, to go directly into the final spacewalk (without the spacesuit so he could even run in space).
This man took simultaneously much less and much longer to finally encounter the alien than I did. I think I took this long to just finally find where the flashlight was

This is one of my favorite games and is my favorite horror game! Alien Isolation is hugely underated thanks to IGN's butchering and ridiculously wrong review. It makes me think that they never actually played through the game.

Intentional. There are posters and other objects in the game that are supposed to slightly resemble the Alien. All for the sake of creeping you out and unnerving you while you play

It doesn't have an actually creepy atmosphere, but it has subliminal creepy or sexual messages that are made to make you feel uncomfortable, like in the first and second movie. It looks like the writers from alien 3 and so on just forgot about the original intension of the first movie: The alien and facehuggers resample sexual predators and they're meant to, ad I said, make you uncomfortable, while the other movies took too much the sci-fi aspects of the concept to gain profit

They allude to that primal almost sexual horror that was captured in the original Alien. It's hard to put a finger on what it is exactly but like sex it's deeply ingrained in the human psychology
I bought this game 6 years ago on xbox, never beat the 5th mission, bought it on ps4 2 years later, never even came close to beating it, bought it on pc 2 years ago and just beat the game yesterday.
An easy way to make that undoable would be to make it so that if you glitch out of bounds or skip a mandatory objective, any area you shouldn't yet have access to does lethal damage over time that can't be outhealed.

It literally means "any percentage of what the full scope of a game has to offer in reaching the end goal", as in, making it through to the end without gathering all equipment, skipping bonus areas, etc. You're not exploring the entirety of what the story has to offer in just getting through it as fast as you can. You still have to play the fucking game. Think of beating Super Mario without entering any of the pipes leading to the bonus water worlds or even bothering to collect coins or get mushrooms. THAT would be an "any% speedrun". Am I making it easier to understand? Now let's say I have a corrupted copy of the game that automatically warps me from the first world to the last one - gee, I guess I could be like this genius here and declare victory as the fasted Mario player in the world, right? Exvcept I'm not. I'm not playing the game, I'm not fast because I'm actually skilled. I just figured out a way to take advantage of glitches and development bugs to my advantage; I played the game so fucking much that I discovered something anyone can use in order to literally eliminate huge sections of the game itself...so I can post shit on youtube and have morons like you lick my asshole and tell other people they don't know what a speedrun is... When I first heard of speedruning I actually thought this kind of stuff was cheating too. Luckily some nice people taught me about speed running and helped me enjoy it. Game dialogues: have different lengths depending on what voiceover language is chosen. Speedrunners: *I T A L I E N* Congratulations on that WR! I had no idea you could break the sequence so hard that it lets you skip literally 90% of the game. But that's a pretty common case with metroidvania-like level design, I guess.
I mean have you ever been in a TH-cam comment section before? What were you expecting? They probably never seen a speed run before. Just explain how this works to them and move on.

I bought this game 6 years ago on xbox, never beat the 5th mission, bought it on ps4 2 years later, never even came close to beating it, bought it on pc 2 years ago and just beat the game yesterday.

How difficult it is to game developers make it impossible to go through doors? Every speedrun in every game manages to do it.
An easy way to make that undoable would be to make it so that if you glitch out of bounds or skip a mandatory objective, any area you shouldn't yet have access to does lethal damage over time that can't be outhealed.

@xXBurning FoxXx Because it IS. I don't think you know what "any%" actually means - you know, the source i just double-checked with 5 seconds of a Google search could've clued you in.
It literally means "any percentage of what the full scope of a game has to offer in reaching the end goal", as in, making it through to the end without gathering all equipment, skipping bonus areas, etc. You're not exploring the entirety of what the story has to offer in just getting through it as fast as you can. You still have to play the fucking game.
Think of beating Super Mario without entering any of the pipes leading to the bonus water worlds or even bothering to collect coins or get mushrooms. THAT would be an "any% speedrun". Am I making it easier to understand?
Now let's say I have a corrupted copy of the game that automatically warps me from the first world to the last one - gee, I guess I could be like this genius here and declare victory as the fasted Mario player in the world, right?

I just figured out a way to take advantage of glitches and development bugs to my advantage; I played the game so fucking much that I discovered something anyone can use in order to literally eliminate huge sections of the game itself...so I can post shit on youtube and have morons like you lick my asshole and tell other people they don't know what a speedrun is...
Dude? Walking through walls and floating like a ghost is literally the opposite definition of what "any% speedrun" means on virtually any gaming source you could find with 5 seconds on Google... not to mention common sense should have kicked in and told you what "cheating" was since kindergarten.

Having beaten this game once 5 years ago it seemed impossible for someone to do it in less than half n hour. So I clicked on it and yeah he glitched his way through it. It was just so startling to me considering I see most of my speedrunning on Twitch instead of TH-cam, I didn't realize that some people would start to throw a hissy fit over the run. @@steveuschrist you really don’t seem to get it. The majority of the population has no idea what speedrunning is actually about, especially any %. When I first heard of speedruning I actually thought this kind of stuff was cheating too. Luckily some nice people taught me about speed running and helped me enjoy it. When you belittle these people for not really understanding speedrunning, you’re driving away people who might have otherwise been interested

Congratulations on that WR! I had no idea you could break the sequence so hard that it lets you skip literally 90% of the game. But that's a pretty common case with metroidvania-like level design, I guess.

crouch clipping? i dont know, my guess. you can crouch clip through some doors allowing you to completely skip parts of the game.

It's because this category allows the use of glitches, you end up skipping a LOT of the game using them. Thanks for the kind words.

@@cristianserret4190 thanks for commenting on my 3 year old comment that i forgot i made lol. i did beat the game on normal mode and then i went back and beat it on nightmare mode. i think when i made this comment i was just annoyed that so many people in the comments were complaining about him not playing the game in the intended way, and saying that hes missing out on the game.
