I want to do this so bad but I get nervous that dragons are just gonna come attack me while exploring so I limit how many locations I travel to at once because sooner or later a dragon is gonna attack. I’ll usually just discover some locations I see while on my way to another location.
Every time I’m playing Skyrim in the living room my mom says “Take that flower”, “take that bug”, “Oh look a different flower, take it” so I’m pretty sure she would be the Hoarder if she played Skyrim😂😂

Doesn't matter if you try to complete them, the amount of quests you have can ONLY increase! 😅 Except probably at the end when you simply run out of all possible quests.

the thing about skyrim saves is it either autosaves so much that you can't go back to a save older than 3 seconds without quick/hard saving or there are no autosaves since helgan. and there is basically no in between. the game saves when you open your inventory for crying out loud.
@@charmedrools1 I usually save before load doors because that's when my game usually crashes. When I drop frames, I dont usually Dave because my whole entire game is under 30 fps :')
It gets really boring though. Like when every single thing you do is easy because "HA that npc just walked right past me! Immediate kill!" It just gets repetitive. I wanna shake it up and die 10 times before reaching my goal, that makes it feel like an actual accomplishment instead of an overpowered playstyle.
This behaviour are commonly caused by heavy modding. Once a gamesave become unstable continuing to play it is pointless. Problem is I constantly want to continue testing mods.

I'm definitely the explorer, while my friend is the RPG-er. A subcategory of her type is having so many characters to jump between, that you're no longer just roleplaying one character, but you make a whole bunch of them. A family, enemies, lovers, whatever, and you play as each of them, progressing their individual stories little by little. She also has a mod to be able to see her other characters as in-game NPC's while playing as another character, so they can actually interact (like if it's the family she's created), and she can build their lore together. It's actually really really cool and I dunno if that's just a thing she does, or if others do it too, but if they do, I think it should be a "type" of player, for sure, considering with how much time she puts into them, she has no time for anything else haha
The hero: always sits through the dialogue, takes on every quest and completes it. Uses swords and axes, kills all bandits and vampires and werewolves, and always, ALWAYS, Picks the ethical options of dialogue.
@@skylar197 My first character was a thief, and I only really felt guilty with that one quest where you're forced to intimidate to get information. I felt awful when I threatened Talen-Jei and Keerava. On every other occasion, I just stole from people I didn't like.

The guilt was more with the shop keepers I'd made friends with lol. Or killing that beggar who lost his sister, and his mind, after I helped him find the sister's necklace.
I can never bring myself to do thieves guild or dark brotherhood, or anything evil for that matter. I always feel bad and just load a save from before I did the bad.
The "hero" who will do any quest, no matter how trivial, tedious, or difficult it is. Heroes have a completed quest list so long that it puts the hoarders to shame. Heroes will complete all of Riverwoods quests immediately, then move on the Whiterun and the other holds. The truly thorough hero will check wikis to ensure every quest in their vicinity has been completed (my play style ofc).
Maven: “Anyone makes trouble for me I pay a visit to the thieves guild make me angry and I contact the dark brotherhood” Me: *oh yeah funny story about that*

I’m a completionist player. If there is a cave, I have to explore it. If there is a black marker, I have to find it. If there is a quest, I have to complete it. If there is a book, I have to know that I read it. If there is an npc, I have to talk to them. If there is a skill, I have to own it. I think you get the point
Grym I mean, it worked, didn't it? Skyrim is consistently in people's top 100 best games of all time lists, and it is one of the highest selling games of all time. Also, the completionist mentality applied for Morrowind as well, which I am sure is what you are referencing when you say Skyrim is dumbed-down.
Then there’s the Immersed. The one who is both an RPer and an Explorer. No fast travel, they camp at night or sleep at an inn, they have Survival mods or the Survival Mode creation, they always stay in character, and they love to play with every aspect of the game system.
You missed the guy that gets excited to put some hours into his character, only to load in and realize he’s in the middle of a dwarven ruin or blackreach, and proceeds to hop right tf off thinking about the seemingly endless trek back to fast travel territory. Thats me.
I loaded up my most recent save from last year and literally all of the quests I had (main quest line and Dawnguard included) were in Dwarven ruins and Blackreach. I royally screwed myself over.

My PC died a couple months after I made the original comment, so now I can't play anything on PC.... my 1000+ hour Skyrim account... gone. My maxed out Battlefront 2 account, utterly inaccessible. My 50+ game Steam library, completely pointless. If anybody knows how to restore the PC or at least do a data transfer I would really appreciate some tips.

I have played Skyrim for over 400 hours and I've never gotten to that part because I'm too busy exploring or doing side quests and faction quests. It's especially easy if you have a mod that makes the game start differently. Heck I have a character who's over level 50 and still never went to Dragonreach.
@@lyswenn The game is really boring after the main storyline in my opinion. Im probably not the kind of player for RPG's since I find side quests and exploring useless. I only made the Stormcloaks win, buy a house etc. after I slayed Alduin.

You forgot the "immersive" player. Everything has to be realistic in a fantasy world. You can't fast travel, you have to eat, drink and sleep, oh Skyrim is cold so you should deal with that too, armors have to fit in the lore, etc. 🤔

Now that I have a life and little spare time, I tried to replay the game(didn't have any DLCs in the past) and tried to force myself to play WITHOUT survival mods and food and thirst needs and diseases and sleep and campfire and darker nights and torches that burn out and deadly combat and potion effects over time and etc etc I gave in after 3 hours. I cannot imagine playing skyrim without these basic mod features fak. It's a therapeutic addiction.

Going to whiterun already in the second quest then go to riverwood to speak with alvor and then didnt use fast travel to go to whiterun 8. Trying to pickpocket a guard 9. If I had to describe my play style, I would call it The RPG Perfectionist. I have to plan everything for my character before I begin playing. My character has to have a backstory and I have to play the game in a specific way that makes the story make sense or I will get stressed out. It is a blessing and a curse.
The would-be roleplayer. They start a new file with the intent to play as a cold, calculated, unfeeling killer, but then end up sparing people left and right because murder of the innocent feels bad even if they’re just digital creations.
I'm the half-asser. I'm all of the others, except I half ass everything. Played the game for years. Never got all of the masks, started a list to get all of Barenziah stones, never finished it, sometimes, when I felt like it, I would cook and rest and try to try to "be in the game", would drop it after 10 minutes because I got: bored, tired of it or too self conscious of the ridiculousness of the situation. I would start destruction and chaos, then reload it reset it because getting a bounty on every single stronghold and being attacked on sight gets really old after some time. I occasionally got mods... If they didn't sound too complicated to install and not too buggish. Exploring every single corner of the map also was a goal at some point... Except I forgot about it... For some unknown reason I can't remember now. Half-asser: Quests incomplete, forgotten or permanently ignored. Didn't actually choose a spouse, got the easiest houses, procastinated killing Alduin for months, never chose a side in the civil war... Idk if it's an actual thing, but it was definitely my thing.
Same, except I start a new character right before I nearly finished exploring 70% of Skyrim. Never finished the full game. Dunno if I ever will. The addition of mods on console make it even more unlikely. I've disabled fast traveler with Frostfall and Campfire.
Type:my dad. do not use the map for fast movement, but always runs straight through the mountains and constantly gets stuck, in ruins and places where there is an NPC, he walks unnoticed to practice the skill of "stealth" and fights with enemies in stealth mode, because he forgot to press the button, always with weapons at the ready, throws all the garbage to his comrade, drags things from shops to deserted places in order to steal, does not use magic at all, rarely pulls out a bow, catapults everything and everyone with the help of Tuum.And he can accidentally press the wrong button and steal something in a crowded place, after it he will not load the last save or not pay the guard a debt, etc. he will start gynocide all who will attack him.Once he stole meat from the counter in Markarth, he interrupted all the guards there and every time the guards respawned he killed them, because of this he broke a quest with Sydna's mine.
The Alt-o-Holic: always restarting with a new character just a few hours after escaping Helgen. The Loremaster: A cousin of the RPGer, doesn't necessarily immerse themselves in the minutia of the character's moment-to-moment life, but gets a thrill out of fitting and configuring each new character to TESlore. They avoided Whiterun until after they'd gained Mehrune's Razor and poured over the Commentaries on the Mysterium Xarxes enough to Mankar Camoran their way to being Dragonborn. They collect heartstones on Solstheim to try and find a way to bring back Arniel Gane. They KNOW the Ideal Masters are to Mannimarco what Akatosh is to Auriel. They *ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND* the meaning behind Heimskr's preaching, probably better than Heimskr himself. The Powergrinder: This person befriends Faendal immediately after leaving Helgen in order to get their Archery up to level 50 for free before even killing their first wolf. This person casts hundreds of Soul Traps on the same skeever corpse in order to grind Conjuration so he can summon Dremora Lords during his first quest. This person has spent more time shield-bashing mudcrabs and chain casting muffle on the streets of Whiterun than they have killing dragons. The Parkour Expert: Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads. The True Believer: ALWAYS chooses the same sides regardless of any changes in character or playstyle. If they side with the Empire, then they ALWAYS side with Empire. If they spare Paarthurnax, then they ALWAYS spare Paarthurnax. They have spent more time discussing the implications and vagaries of the Thalmor Dossier on Ulfric Stormcloak than most college grads spent on their Bachelor's.
The "True Believers" reminds me of WoW, where (for some of us) whether you are Horde or Alliance means more than whether you are Democrat or Republican! lol... It's completely dumb to think that way and... Horde for life. So... Yeah. Idk that I can explain it. I've only been playing Skyrim for a few days. So, idk if I'll have the same response to this issue, but I definitely feel some type a way about Alliance.
I'm honestly a hoarder and can't seem to ignore the constant urge to take anything that isn't a static object. I had a high asf bounty in one playthrough in every hold for simply stealing stuff. guards attacked me on-site and had encountered, and slaughtered while laughing maniacally, a LOT of bounty hunters.
I’m the interior decorator. Spend most my time dropping torches behind furniture to increase lighting. Alphabetizing the bookshelves, setting the dinner table, try to places things right side up ( which takes patience and skill ) saving the game every time I successfully place an item in case I knock it over tryin to place another item... carefully planning the theme of each house before building Hearthfire.
How do you make things actually stay put when you re-enter your home? :O every time i drop something, move it and place it elsewhere and leave, then come back, my shits back where i dropped it lmao
@shadowyeager if you don't have any roleplaying qualms about your mage teaming up with non-mages (or just in general), it could be an interesting storyline to have a mage and some sort of battle-oriented (melee or ranged) character travelling together. but if you really don't want your character to be in that sort of situation, it's always good to really build up your conjuration skill tree so you can have a non-permanent partner (and maybe build up the dagger skills a bit for those really nasty fights, less clunky than other weapons and more appropriate for a mage in my eyes.) hope this helped!

It gets really boring though. Like when every single thing you do is easy because "HA that npc just walked right past me! Immediate kill!" It just gets repetitive. I wanna shake it up and die 10 times before reaching my goal, that makes it feel like an actual accomplishment instead of an overpowered playstyle.

This behaviour are commonly caused by heavy modding. Once a gamesave become unstable continuing to play it is pointless. Problem is I constantly want to continue testing mods.

I'm definitely the explorer, while my friend is the RPG-er. A subcategory of her type is having so many characters to jump between, that you're no longer just roleplaying one character, but you make a whole bunch of them. A family, enemies, lovers, whatever, and you play as each of them, progressing their individual stories little by little. She also has a mod to be able to see her other characters as in-game NPC's while playing as another character, so they can actually interact (like if it's the family she's created), and she can build their lore together. It's actually really really cool and I dunno if that's just a thing she does, or if others do it too, but if they do, I think it should be a "type" of player, for sure, considering with how much time she puts into them, she has no time for anything else haha

@@skylar197 My first character was a thief, and I only really felt guilty with that one quest where you're forced to intimidate to get information. I felt awful when I threatened Talen-Jei and Keerava. On every other occasion, I just stole from people I didn't like.

I’m like a mix between the modded and the roleplayer- Except I have the “ineed” mod, so there’s no reason to pretend to be hungry all the damn time-
The "hero" who will do any quest, no matter how trivial, tedious, or difficult it is. Heroes have a completed quest list so long that it puts the hoarders to shame. Heroes will complete all of Riverwoods quests immediately, then move on the Whiterun and the other holds. The truly thorough hero will check wikis to ensure every quest in their vicinity has been completed (my play style ofc).

I’m a completionist player. If there is a cave, I have to explore it. If there is a black marker, I have to find it. If there is a quest, I have to complete it. If there is a book, I have to know that I read it. If there is an npc, I have to talk to them. If there is a skill, I have to own it. I think you get the point

I loaded up my most recent save from last year and literally all of the quests I had (main quest line and Dawnguard included) were in Dwarven ruins and Blackreach. I royally screwed myself over.

@@kappadoki That's assuming you follow the main storyline. I have played Skyrim for over 400 hours and I've never gotten to that part because I'm too busy exploring or doing side quests and faction quests. It's especially easy if you have a mod that makes the game start differently.
Heck I have a character who's over level 50 and still never went to Dragonreach.

You forgot the "immersive" player. Everything has to be realistic in a fantasy world. You can't fast travel, you have to eat, drink and sleep, oh Skyrim is cold so you should deal with that too, armors have to fit in the lore, etc. 🤔

Now that I have a life and little spare time, I tried to replay the game(didn't have any DLCs in the past) and tried to force myself to play WITHOUT survival mods and food and thirst needs and diseases and sleep and campfire and darker nights and torches that burn out and deadly combat and potion effects over time and etc etc
I gave in after 3 hours. I cannot imagine playing skyrim without these basic mod features fak. It's a therapeutic addiction.
@@Dalziel45 I play modded, too, but try to keep it lore friendly. I was just trying to say that if you turn over every leaf looking for RNG loot, you're going to be missing whole quests or taking way longer to find them
things that i did when playing skyrim for the first time:
1. Trying to pass a mountain to go to riverwood
2. Thinking that i can kill a giant with beginner sets
3. Wasting my gold just for weapons
4. Attacking a chicken
5. Trying to go to the top of throat of the world
6. Trying to kill a single draugr and fails
7. Going to whiterun already in the second quest then go to riverwood to speak with alvor and then didnt use fast travel to go to whiterun
8. Trying to pickpocket a guard
9. Didnt know where is kodlak whitemane is when he is in front of me

Sasha Braus number 1,2 and 4 hit home. I accidentally punched a chicken and the whole village attacked me. Hated the chickens in Skyrim ever since.

If I had to describe my play style, I would call it The RPG Perfectionist.
I have to plan everything for my character before I begin playing. My character has to have a backstory and I have to play the game in a specific way that makes the story make sense or I will get stressed out.
It is a blessing and a curse.
The would-be roleplayer. They start a new file with the intent to play as a cold, calculated, unfeeling killer, but then end up sparing people left and right because murder of the innocent feels bad even if they’re just digital creations.
Lol awesome. I'm the exact opposite. Want a "good" character but end up killing everyone because It's easier to create fake drama that way.

I'm the half-asser. I'm all of the others, except I half ass everything. Played the game for years. Never got all of the masks, started a list to get all of Barenziah stones, never finished it, sometimes, when I felt like it, I would cook and rest and try to try to "be in the game", would drop it after 10 minutes because I got: bored, tired of it or too self conscious of the ridiculousness of the situation. I would start destruction and chaos, then reload it reset it because getting a bounty on every single stronghold and being attacked on sight gets really old after some time. I occasionally got mods... If they didn't sound too complicated to install and not too buggish.
Exploring every single corner of the map also was a goal at some point... Except I forgot about it... For some unknown reason I can't remember now.
Half-asser: Quests incomplete, forgotten or permanently ignored.
Didn't actually choose a spouse, got the easiest houses, procastinated killing Alduin for months, never chose a side in the civil war...
Idk if it's an actual thing, but it was definitely my thing.
Same, except I start a new character right before I nearly finished exploring 70% of Skyrim. Never finished the full game. Dunno if I ever will. The addition of mods on console make it even more unlikely. I've disabled fast traveler with Frostfall and Campfire.
I don't think ANYONE completed the stones of Barenziah, or the crimson nirnroot. They're useless dumb quests.

do not use the map for fast movement, but always runs straight through the mountains and constantly gets stuck, in ruins and places where there is an NPC, he walks unnoticed to practice the skill of "stealth" and fights with enemies in stealth mode, because he forgot to press the button, always with weapons at the ready, throws all the garbage to his comrade, drags things from shops to deserted places in order to steal, does not use magic at all, rarely pulls out a bow, catapults everything and everyone with the help of Tuum.And he can accidentally press the wrong button and steal something in a crowded place, after it he will not load the last save or not pay the guard a debt, etc. he will start gynocide all who will attack him.Once he stole meat from the counter in Markarth, he interrupted all the guards there and every time the guards respawned he killed them, because of this he broke a quest with Sydna's mine.

The Loremaster: A cousin of the RPGer, doesn't necessarily immerse themselves in the minutia of the character's moment-to-moment life, but gets a thrill out of fitting and configuring each new character to TESlore. They avoided Whiterun until after they'd gained Mehrune's Razor and poured over the Commentaries on the Mysterium Xarxes enough to Mankar Camoran their way to being Dragonborn. They collect heartstones on Solstheim to try and find a way to bring back Arniel Gane. They KNOW the Ideal Masters are to Mannimarco what Akatosh is to Auriel. They *ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND* the meaning behind Heimskr's preaching, probably better than Heimskr himself.
The Powergrinder: This person befriends Faendal immediately after leaving Helgen in order to get their Archery up to level 50 for free before even killing their first wolf. This person casts hundreds of Soul Traps on the same skeever corpse in order to grind Conjuration so he can summon Dremora Lords during his first quest. This person has spent more time shield-bashing mudcrabs and chain casting muffle on the streets of Whiterun than they have killing dragons.
The Parkour Expert: Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads.
The True Believer: ALWAYS chooses the same sides regardless of any changes in character or playstyle. If they side with the Empire, then they ALWAYS side with Empire. If they spare Paarthurnax, then they ALWAYS spare Paarthurnax. They have spent more time discussing the implications and vagaries of the Thalmor Dossier on Ulfric Stormcloak than most college grads spent on their Bachelor's.

I'm honestly a hoarder and can't seem to ignore the constant urge to take anything that isn't a static object. I had a high asf bounty in one playthrough in every hold for simply stealing stuff. guards attacked me on-site and had encountered, and slaughtered while laughing maniacally, a LOT of bounty hunters.
I’m the interior decorator. Spend most my time dropping torches behind furniture to increase lighting. Alphabetizing the bookshelves, setting the dinner table, try to places things right side up ( which takes patience and skill ) saving the game every time I successfully place an item in case I knock it over tryin to place another item... carefully planning the theme of each house before building Hearthfire.
I struggled just to put like four weapons in display cases in my house. Props

if you don't have any roleplaying qualms about your mage teaming up with non-mages (or just in general), it could be an interesting storyline to have a mage and some sort of battle-oriented (melee or ranged) character travelling together.
but if you really don't want your character to be in that sort of situation, it's always good to really build up your conjuration skill tree so you can have a non-permanent partner (and maybe build up the dagger skills a bit for those really nasty fights, less clunky than other weapons and more appropriate for a mage in my eyes.)
