      It's not a bad thing if card become to overpowered as the game goes on then they have to be banned or they just become boring matches, also if people kept using the same deck year after year then they would just have to find one that works and that would be it. Then the tournaments would did out

    • @kennedymutiti1826
      @kennedymutiti1826 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** I totally agree. I only have one deck I could enter in a tournament, the rest of mine have banned cards in them, and, consequently, they are my strongest decks. They make a big show of "balance" and "fairness" when the real fun of the game should be making a deck to work around those powerful cards.

      +Chris Stark No, #1 would be Yuma. He literally has three to four transformations that allow him to draw new cards out of nowhere. His second good transformation even allows him to change a card into a new one.

      Forget Yu-Gi-Oh, punching someone in the face is screwing the rules IRL. It's called assault, and it carries a prison term. His ass should be in jail, but it's not. Hence, he "cheated" his way out of prison. -.-"

    I feel bad for the guy who got his deck stolen. At Nat's 2011, I was playing gladiator beasts I had just won my ninth round improving to 7-2 securing my spot for day 2. My opponent asked if I had a pen for the match. I looked away for a second digging through my bag looking for a pen. When I looked up he was gone and so was my deck. My deck wasn't very valuable, so I figured I could probably replace it through trading the next day. However I couldn't remember exactly every card in my deck. I explained to the judge the next day I couldn't play because my deck was stolen and I was unable to remember exactly what I needed. I was dropped from the tournament like I knew I would. I was tempted to cheat and borrow a friends deck for an opportunity to play in day 2 at Nat's is rare, and just the chance to play and continue was almost worth getting banned. I didn't though, point is that guy got screwed over and he shouldnt have been banned for 2 years. He should have gotten a lighter punishment. As for that lance guy, the guy throwing dice should have gotten banned too for starting the fight and interfering with a match

    • @DrewskiTheLegend
      @DrewskiTheLegend 9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Jae Kim was a pretty good player and ambassador, I agree that the situation really sucks but he should have just gone to the head judge about it. When you are a noteworthy player, people will be watching you and you can't get away with swapping decks. I don't think the punishment is really appropriate for the offense but I don't really know what he expected to happen.

    • @madhatten00
      @madhatten00 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      DrewskiTheLegend personally i think it's kind of dumb they don't let you swap decks during tournies...
      i mean just have the judges check every deck everyday right before it starts and make sure there aren't any cheating decks or banned cards in the deck. Why do i have use the same deck every duel?
      i don't see other games like League of Legends forcing you to use the same champion every match

    • @madhatten00
      @madhatten00 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      *****
      not during play though; i mean like if it takes multiple days; you should be allowed to change decks through out the course of the week; new deck every day
      also side decking is really since you play more than one duel; it's best 2/3
      as for more money; more advantage; more money; already more advantage; pretty expensive to get black luster soldier envoy; also for a full set of judgement dragon...

    omg i haven't heard the phrase "if you aren't cheating, you aren't trying" since highschool. My wrestling coach taught us a bunch of crazy moves that aren't really "against the rules" but if you're losing they help a lot. One of them was called the dirty russian and it basically went like this. If your opponent has their hands wraped around you while standing up, you drop to the ground an they get a penalty because you can't have your hands locked when you have your opponent on the ground. I won 2 meats using that trick rofl

    • @vgmaster02

      How the fuck can you even do that? I think someone would clearly see you grabbing your opponent's deck, whipping out your portable sharpie/tape/whatever, mark the sleeves, and put it back down. Either he IS a ninja or everyone there was fucking blind because that's shit that NO ONE should've missed.

      vgmaster02 fingernails bro

    • @TheSgtferg
      @TheSgtferg 9 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      He would pick up his opponents grave and use his fingernail to put a small indentation on the back of the card. Since his opponent was playing spellbook, he would mark the cards fate, tower, power, eternity, and so on. When he shuffled, he would put the cards with the mark on top of his opponent's deck, thereby stacking his opponent. His opponent noticed it after when he saw that the back of the cards that made up his opening had all had a weird Lil mark

    • @TheSgtferg
      @TheSgtferg 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It's very easy to pick up your opponents grave and put a fingernail mark on it

    • @edwiniseman4
      @edwiniseman4 9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      vgmaster02 You can "mark" cards with fingernail indentations or bending them in a certain manner. It's a well know card trick with games like Poker or Blackjack, so much so, casinos go as far as opening a brand new pack with every game just to prevent it. I would imagine in this case, players would do so on shuffles since that's the only time an opponent has your cards, and since you can't bring out a 2nd unmarked deck, you have to ride with the imperfections unbeknownst to you.

All decks could would be reconstructed digitally, and there would be no way to cheat. NO cheating, and seeing the action on tv with cgi monsters... sounds like a win win. heck with the invention of AR coming soon, maybe one day they could make an actual dual disk.

    I caused a huge fuss at a regionals in Miami years ago. I ran "Dropoff OTK" I was a level 2 Judge and knew a lot of shady rulings and found that if you shuffle your hand when dropoff is played it makes an irreversible game state and an auto loss. I made it to the Top table and had a few successful rounds, even beating Top Nationals players at the time (as a mediocre player). Eventually the head judge pulled me aside and told me to stop or I would be banned for rulesharking then made an on the spot errata about having to announce the play of Drop Off or Drastic Dropoff before the draw phase or on effect activation of a draw. Good times

      +Verlisify How does that make them lose? Seems like you have to take their word that they discarded the right card, like how when they Set a monster, you have to take their word that it's a monster that can be Set.

    • @Verlisify
      @Verlisify 8 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      +Resetti's Robot Wars Replicas Its an irreversible game state "taking their word for it" is in no way a valid reasoning for it, which is why the strategy was so effective. With them setting something, that can be checked then ruled as a misplay or cheating as the game progresses, there is no way to undo a hand shuffle. Also what made it work is that by the rules, you should declare main phase or else you are in draw phase until you perform an action. A lot of time people draw, think a little, and shuffle their hand while still being in draw phase which also gave a long time for the drop off activation. I got the same guy 2 times because its such habit.

      Jeff Jones real claim of fame is that he's a really good deck builder. He found a way to optimize in his own way Burning Abyss pre NECH with not just monarch tech but main decking mind crush since wing blast/raiza can put back main deck cards to the top of the deck for top decking purposes. As well as his Denko Doll interpretation and his reasoning behind it.
      I'd give Korey McDuffie props as well since every time I hear him break down his deck, he leaves absolutely no corner unturned for his motivations and reasons as to why he played the cards he did. Probably comes out of habit from playing MTG as well.

      Robert Douglas Almost forgot about Jeff Jones plants synchro variant. As for the Psychic Deck, Jeff himself admits its jank as hell and the only reason why he won was because of certain technicalities of cards he used like Crystal Chrononaut that _favored_ him. He never used it again to top another event and no one was able to replicate the success of it in part due to its heavy inconsistency in part of Grandsoil itself.

    • @WhoNeedsMeta
      @WhoNeedsMeta 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      While siding, you both keep the card you agree to side out face up on the table. This practice was really common in bablyless dragon mirrors, as both players would agree to side out Sixth Sense and RFTDD. The issue is with the Djinn side out is Pat had a 2nd copy of it in his side deck, so while it was face up on the board in between games he could take his 2nd copy and put it in. This wasn't an issue during dragon mirrors because both Sixth Sense and RFTDD were both at 1 so there couldn't legally be a spare copy in the side.

He edited it to take 6 and one less black land. Sadly, he didn't realize the same card was used as a poster almost right behind him, and the second it lay it down the kid he was playing against called foul. Turns out a few of his cards were shopped, either for more damage or less mana, and he got a two or three year ban for each card. The local shop no longer allows him to play, either.

    Anyone who cheats is a disgrace. Even as a kid I shared this sentiment. Kids don’t know better, but they ideally learn. It doesn’t matter if they have skill. I won’t name another name, but I was told of a bribery instance with someone I knew who won an sjc and failed in another. Never cheated against me. I went x-1 or x-0 until I had to leave bc friend’s parents lol.
    When I began yugioh as a kid , another who literally wore an American bandanna, tried to say if he won he’d get my raigeki - f him, told the judge and gone.

    Real Number 1 Cheater, of all time, yuma tsukumo episode 98. yugioh zexal.
    1 monster on field, 0 in hand, 1 in deck.
    Yuma stacked the card on the bottom of his deck with a card effect the turn before.
    In his draw phase his opponent ,Vector, activates a mind crush like card. Calling The Card Correctly!!!
    Yuma then changes the card entirely with alien magic super powers.
    Fucking Cheater!!!

    Cheating is extremely common in yugioh tournaments. A HUGE part of winning is to always assume your opponent may potentially cheat, and to constantly employ anti cheating techniques.
    Always ask how many cards they have, don't allow them put their hands under the table, ask them to play slowly once they start going super fast, keep track of erratad cards, always keep track of lifepoints yourself and verify often, ask them to cut your deck not hold it sideways and shuffle so they can see your cards, watch them side deck, keep track of traps they just set that turn so they don't activate the turn they are set, don't let them stack you cut their deck well and unpredictably, ugh and SO many other things hahahaha.
    The sad truth is the quote 'all the pro players cheat' is basically true. Of course, most non pro players cheat too. Everyone cheats, both pros and non pros alike. Learn anti cheating techniques and you will become a better player.

    I think the number 3 guy Jay Kim should be number 10 on the list rather than in the top 3 or that he shouldn't be on the list at all because he sounds like a victim of circumstance after getting his deck presumably stolen.
    What really sucks is that he was also banned after of being *victimized* due to said circumstances which is basically adding salt to the wound. That just makes it hurt so much more.
    A regular disqualification would have been sufficient given he was a *victim* of theft. Konami really does give players a royal screw job and is not even compassionate towards such tragic incidents.

    • @Mattheuw1154
      @Mattheuw1154 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thing is, Kim was plain stupid. Yes, he had a good record. Yes, by winning the next game he would top the event. BUT... that was all history when his deck had gone missing. He shouldve just dropped from the tournament, there was no way he was getting through with playing another deck... BUT... he still did. Such stupidity deserves to get banned.

    • @kamenriderantinomy
      @kamenriderantinomy 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is mentality like that that is the reason why there is so much indecency in the card game. Calling him stupid? His deck was STOLEN and he was banned because of his circumstances.
      Given what happened to him as he was a *victim* of theft and couldn't compete anyways, a plain disqualification SHOULD have been the answer, not a 2 year ban. Compassion and understanding are things that *should* exist given circumstances like his and others.
      It is people with no moral fiber that taint the game with cheating and using "technicalities" (dishonest abuse of using the rules to win by default/disqualification) to win.
      When situations like Kim's happens, it is understandable and therefore deserves compassion and *lenient* punishment. The mentality of calling victims of circumstance like his stupid makes those people less than scum. The elitist/asshole attitude has to stop and decency has to take precedence over execution of the "rules" that are easily abused and tainted in favor of those who would take advantage of it.
