This is the best "unbiased" review I've seen to date. The way you navigate your musical vocabulary as an audiophile in an accurate description of these headphones was simply 'music to my ears'. You articulated my thoughts perfectly. Congratulations & thank you... .. . Signed, 2-time Mixr-owner
This is the best review I've ever come across! You actually know what you're saying and you're the only person who's acknowledged the split between Monster and Beats and the difference in sound quality. Good job!
The pros are the best headphones in the market thus far. Had these for a month so far and they blow every other headphones out the water, love these babies.
Thanks for a great review. It helped me immensely. Even though it was your last choice, I went with the Studios. I travel for a living, and spend many hours on airplanes. The noise canceling feature is a bonus. They work well with my Apple products and when plugged into the airplane jack. Also, they are as you said, very comfortable. Thanks again.
@hifiguy528 Do the Mixrs only sound good with electronic music? I listen to mostly rap/hip-hop and really like how they look compared to the solos. Which would you suggest for me? Your answer would be greatly appreciated
Okay, let's start by saying I never listened to one, so my opinion is only driven by price vs performance. I own a Beyerdynamic DT770 pro and a AKG K271 studio. I do mixing of metalmusic on them and need them to be as honest as possible. I am interessted in the Beats because of the fact they're clearly overpriced, but people don't seem to care. So I imagined they could be awsome sounding and therefore worth the extra money, but your review tells me otherwise. Most honest review on beats I found.
i listen to heavy metal music mainly but i do listen to a lot of others too which one of these would be the best for this genre? and i would also like to say i do wear glasses so please keep that in mind when you reply. thanks hope to hear from you!
@10CIRL if your talking about bass, punch is the really powerful low notes that feel like punches. Boom is really loud thumping bass that vibrates a lot and has that boom boom boom sound
I bought new studios and i listen to all kinds of music metal to classic. They didnt arrive yet and i used 50-70 bucks ear phones before. Is new studios sound bad for metal? Will i regret it? Because i really trust your reviews and i will send them back before unboxing them. I know everyone is different and have different opinions but i trust yours. Should i bought the monster ones instead of new one? And is the sound quality is good enough for any kind especially rock, metal and punk?
It's detachable cord so if the cord goes bad it won't ruin your perfectly good speakers. Appearance. 1 year warranty. Cable durability. Customer service. Anti microbial no germ or prints cloth. And immersive precision and bass make it perfect.
I'm thinking to change my beats studios for the beats mixr. What do you think? Is that really okay? I mean, I'm tired of the batteries, and the are so heavy, I always end having neck pain. I like mixrs, the are nicer and smaller that studio but better than solo hd.
Uhh Okay... So honestly Hifiguy528 I understand that you liked the Solo Hds for their overall performance... How would they compare to the V-Moda LP-2s in terms of sound. Did the new version of the Solo HDs really improve that much?
The mixrs are great! Much better than solo hd which is much like wireless. They are a little uncomfortable out of the box but after stretching them out a few days, they are great!
Between the DNA and Mixr which do you prefer? I listen to all kinds of music, not just rap or hip hop. Which is more balanced, and which has the better, cleaner bass?
Why are people complaining that he is being sponsored its his opinion and he likes them for what they do best, bass. I have tried and own headphones such as audio technica and sennheiser at similar price range and I have to say beats has sound that rivals the best of them.
Im looking at the studios and mixrs and cant really figure out which ones i want. Which has better build quality? Which is best for all round music not just hip hop/rap? Which ones have good base but isnt overwhelming? The more details the better thank you :)
I have the pro's too, i also like a wide variety genres of music so its not ideal for every song, The do sound amazing with the right songs, when i find a song it plays well its a very pleasing experience! Do i think they are worth the price tag, well depends on what you want with them, For just casual listening, probably not! For industry use and someone who uses headphones a lot for production reason's they should stand up well, For me i am not interested in fashion or items just to be cool, i purchased them because i use my headphones hard and for the odd casual music time when chilling out, Works for me, just wish the high's were a little less harsh, but good for picking out detail in your tracks! All winner in my opinion :)
hifi guy. ive heard that you moded your beats studios and deactivated the noise canceling feature. I would love to see a video on this. it would be very interesting
Try wearing them in, Leave the headphones stretched out for a few days, like put them over a basketball or something, or a shoebox and let them stretch.
I want to ask which want do you prefer Studio or Wireles , im almost buying the wireless but the noise cancelation of the studio is an interest for me (the wireless don't have the noise cancelation?) and the confort of the Studio is most likely !! Thanks and sorry for my english :D !!
If these are the only 2 pairs of headphones that you can buy (very difficult) i would reccomend the wireless since they do come with cable and are more comfortable than the mixrs. At the same time, the mixrs are a tad more durable.
reason why is because some headphones actually have good treble and lower midrange but the upper midrange just destroys the whole sound signature of it with the sibilance causing the headphone to be worthless to listen to. I also find this to be very problematic in car speakers w/ tweeters too.treble highs are excellent but it still has that annoying sibilance in the upper midrange that makes your ears wanna bleed.
See those look nice i just want sum beats lol thanks man but when headphones have different driver size does that mean the one with the bigger drivers are better or not
nice review! In my opinion diff headphone are made for diff ppl, as long as u feel good about the headphone then no matter what brand it is good headphone because what experts say gr8 might not be the best for you IMO
I think a lot of these angry comments are being a bit unfair. He likes them for what they are: good-looking, freakishly bassy headphones. They have above average sound, but not excellent. The sound certainly isn't worth the price, but factor in the look and the name, and it might be worth it to SOME people. I tried the Mixrs briefly, loved the look and thought the sound was decent for the right genres. But I much prefer my VModa M80s. Different strokes for different folks, guys.
I agree with you. I could NOT take him seriously as a reviewer after he said that statement (all sound pretty good and they are all well worth the money). What?! You're right. He is a gearphile. What tipped me off was the room tour. Why have all that high-end gear in a room that doesn't seem optimal for the sound? The speakers alone don't seem like the spacing is adequate to get the best effect.
Well, I will agree that it is very portable, stylish and it is not so bad on rap music (but still on the bass heavy side). But I found it to sound pretty bad because I listen to the Beatles and such. I haven't tried the new Solo HD, the one thats not branded by monster, but I have tried the old one. I don't really like the old one. Have you tried the old one? I was wondering if the newer one is better.
i bought the beats studios, they are better than the apple headphones (in my opinion), though should bring them back and get the beats solo? I only wonder because in the long run the beats use of batteries will eventually cost more than any other beats.. so sense you think the solos are better should i just switch?
Doesn't the cheap and inefficient lock mechanism annoy you a little bit? After 3 exchanges, I finally got a refund :( (Mine are Monsters though... Does it change something?)
This saturday i went to the apple store and tried the sólo hd and the base is AMAZING in my opinion... And im going to get the Red mixrs soon .. and i cant find any stores that are displaying the mixrs so i dont know how powerfull the base is ?? I am moře of a base person i love it.. are the base really loud as loud as sólo hd and wireless.?? Please reply i only like Ur opinios because Ur opinios r věry similar wit mine and u r an expert please reply!!!
one question, can you separate the category of "highs" into a more detailed upper midrange and actual treble so the viewers can get a clearer "sound" picture? like treble is like the snares and cymbals usually sounding in the 10k- 16k hz range and the upper midrange is like the vocals with the annoying sibilance(the annoying sssss when they sing something with S consanant sound) usually in the 6k to 9k hz range.
Im tryin to decide what beats to get, I am thinkin between the Mixrs, Studios, and Wireless. I am only in middle school so I just want a good pair of headphones that look good and sound good. I want the Mixrs but everyone says they are uncomfortable? I have a smaller head so would they be uncomfortable for me? Any tips would be appreciated! Thx
Hi hifiguy I want to know a reasonably priced quality headphone/earphone what do u recommend from all ur experience and I also would like it to look good
i want to buy the mixr because of the looks but what i think is better te wireless or mixr? im not gonna use the wireless function, but they say th mixr does'nt fit good some advise? :)
It all comes down to expectations. Beats are pop culture products. They're for average consumer with no high expectations, who listenes to music from mtv, who doesn't know how good a headphone can sound and doesn't care for it as much. Such people would never spend money on headphones if not for the beats' popularity. I think they're a nice introduction, because from this point it only can get better.
what type of music would be the best to listen to with the mixrs? alos what youd be better the solo hd or the mixrs for a person whos life is based around music?
My guess would be the Mixr's! I'll do a comparison for u cause i already have the Wireless and i'm going to get the Mixr's in a couple days, so be on the lookout for that!!!
i dont know what they were thinking, leaving that upper midrange hump in the pre amp without the proper materials and engineering to control it, it makes me soo frustrated and hard to find good stuff for cheap sigh gotta stick the the higher fidelety high end stuff just to be sure.
The main thing that turns me off those things is the looks and lack of any legacy in quality audio equipment. I prefer Sony and Senheisser, so call me old.
This is the best "unbiased" review I've seen to date. The way you navigate your musical vocabulary as an audiophile in an accurate description of these headphones was simply 'music to my ears'. You articulated my thoughts perfectly. Congratulations & thank you... .. .

Best Beats review on TH-cam. IMO, best review on the net.
Thanks for a great review. It helped me immensely. Even though it was your last choice, I went with the Studios. I travel for a living, and spend many hours on airplanes. You can stretch out the mixrs. You get used to them too. I got used to mine and I've had the neon green ones since June 2013.
Hey Mike! Loved your opinion but I've got a question. In terms of sound, Counting out everything else like comfort, price, or value. What is the top 5?
Very informative. Thanks for explaining the beats well. Im going to get the wireless soon and cant wait
@hifiguy528 Do the Mixrs only sound good with electronic music? I listen to mostly rap/hip-hop and really like how they look compared to the solos. Which would you suggest for me? Your answer would be greatly appreciated

The red mixrs looks stunning in the website I can't wait to get it
i listen to heavy metal music mainly but i do listen to a lot of others too which one of these would be the best for this genre? and i would also like to say i do wear glasses so please keep that in mind when you reply. thanks hope to hear from you!
@10CIRL if your talking about bass, punch is the really powerful low notes that feel like punches. Boom is really loud thumping bass that vibrates a lot and has that boom boom boom sound
do you feel that the left hinge on the beats studio is a lot tighter than the right hinge
I bought new studios and i listen to all kinds of music metal to classic. They didnt arrive yet and i used 50-70 bucks ear phones before. Is new studios sound bad for metal? Will i regret it? Did the new version of the Solo HDs really improve that much?
what there is a part 3 coming up? because the title of this video says part 2/3
The mixrs are great! Much better than solo hd which is much like wireless. They are a little uncomfortable out of the box but after stretching them out a few days, they are great!
To be honest, I was very much against Beats before for being overpriced. But after your video, I think I will reserve my judgement. Thanks!

Do you happen to know when the Red/Black colored Beats Pros will be coming out?
Your reviews are really good, can you please do review on beats executive and upload on TH-cam.
hifi guy. ive heard that you moded your beats studios and deactivated the noise canceling feature. I would love to see a video on this. it would be very interesting
I like the Beats Mixr but for a everyday use, which one do you recommend?
Try wearing them in, Leave the headphones stretched out for a few days, like put them over a basketball or something, or a shoebox and let them stretch.
What do you think about Beats Solos vs Noontec Zoro? Do the Zoros beat the new Solos as Tyll said?
Does the sound quality or build quality fade as you use them for a while?
He only said that the quality is not as good but still it is great!
I want to ask which want do you prefer Studio or Wireles , im almost buying the wireless but the noise cancelation of the studio is an interest for me (the wireless don't have the noise cancelation?) and the confort of the Studio is most likely !! Thanks and sorry for my english :D !!

Beats by Dr. Dre are just a designer headphone. They aren’t the worst but it’s not meant for professional work. Just casual listening to unwind.
Do your solo hd/wireless ginges get loose?
I hope you do the Pro700mk2 soon. There's, like, little to no data on them whatsoever.
@hifiguy528 out of all these which one would you get I want to get the studios or wireless I don't know which one though?
Getting the new pros in white the non monster model in a week can't wait
Hifi guy,Is there any difference in sound quality between the Mixr monster version and the mixr non monster version?
:) thanks for the info and ill try to find my good camera to film the unboxing for u .. ive been looking online for an unboxing on the red mixrs too
Thats true. And Ive heard beats can brake, and people never get their money back. thanks for the advice.
Hi there, are the Non-Monster studios better than the Monster Studio? which do you recommend?
I think a lot of these angry comments are being a bit unfair. He likes them for what they are: good-looking, freakishly bassy headphones. They have above average sound, but not excellent. Different strokes for different folks, guys.
Never fold the wireless and solos the hinges will get loose
@hifiguy Do the wireless headphones fall off your ear, say if you were running?
I agree with you. I could NOT take him seriously as a reviewer after he said that statement (all sound pretty good and they are all well worth the money). What?!

hifiguy, are the mixrs the second best sounding beats (behind the pros)?
Sooo unbiased

if you want beats for just plain old LISTENING to music, get the studios. if ur a producer, get the Pro's. If you want cheaper ones, get the Mixr's
Are you going to do a unboxing on beats executive
Do you plan on giving away your old beats wireless * Please Reply*
Is it just me or has anyone noticed that anywhere when you try out the beats the floor model sounds horrible compared to to the ones yo buy
have you thought about reviewing any of the soul by ludacris headphones?
Hi hifiguy I want to know a reasonably priced quality headphone/earphone what do u recommend from all ur experience and I also would like it to look good
Can you do a review of the MONSTER headphones please?
i want to buy the mixr because of the looks but what i think is better te wireless or mixr? im not gonna use the wireless function, but they say th mixr does'nt fit good some advise? :)
Which headphone is better in Dubstep? Beats solo HD or Monster DNA?
Can you help me !
What beats by dr dre should I get ?
Studio or Mixr ?
BEATS SOLO HD, STUDIO OR SKULLCANDY MIX MASTER, ??? WHICH ONE SHOULD I BUY, I CARE ABOUT SOUND AND BASS
Please answer =(, which one has the most bad ass bass? i was told the mixr was the best for the bass, is that true?
Forgot to mention interesting and informative
Which beats are better? Mixrs or Wireless. please help me I can't decide which one I want.
i was thinking of getting the mixrs, why do you regret it?
Oh and 1 more question. Is the comfort problem the only con about the mixrs?
I want you tell me Studio and Mixr, what beats should I get .

My guess would be the Mixr's! I'll do a comparison for u cause i already have the Wireless and i'm going to get the Mixr's in a couple days, so be on the lookout for that!!!
Can you do a comparison for non monster beats and monster ones?
Also which is more professional and classier looking, cause I don't want to look like a teenage, I am near 30.
i dont know what they were thinking, leaving that upper midrange hump in the pre amp without the proper materials and engineering to control it, it makes me soo frustrated and hard to find good stuff for cheap sigh gotta stick the the higher fidelety high end stuff just to be sure.
awesome And I think the best looking would be the pros
Very good review
You know this guy's pretty huge in the TH-cam headphone community, right?
He did a review on them a long time ago.
do a q&a because i want to know what headphone u recomend for 300 dollars?
Thinking of trying the sennheiser momentum new headphones and the new line from dennon?
@hifiguy528 not saying that sarcastically, of course.
Logitech UE6000 or Focal Spirit One? Please help!! :)
PS: I listen mostly to dubstep and electronic music.
does any of these pairs of beats produce more bass than any of the mdr xb series ?
Which is better to Get, studios or pros, please reply ASAP
I like the studios the most
The main thing that turns me off those things is the looks and lack of any legacy in quality audio equipment. I prefer Sony and Senheisser, so call me old.
