Fantastic!!!!! It's hard to believe someone can SING those tricky rhythms and crazy intervals. Your voice is clean and rich and your improvisation is amazing. Of course the musicianship throughout the whole band is pure artistry. Of course, Antonio's drumming is other-worldly.
Got me thinking about hindustani and carnatic mtraditional singers. :) Except for the improvisation, which is stellar.
Sheesh. Just found this. That vocal solo….a freakin clinic on improvising. You can hear her searching, experimenting, reaching….an edge of your seat listening experience. Where’s she going? Building that story in front of us. Add to that a great tune and world class musos with giant ears….fuk me. I’m ded.

I enabled autoplay on TH-cam and put the window in background. After a while, I came across this video by chance. Since the first note, I started to shiver. I immediately recognized the voice I heard at the Duc des Lombards last month, at Antonia Sanchez and the Migration band's concert. Normally, I'm really not into jazz vocals, thus, when Antonio Sanchez announced “Thana Alexa on the vocals” I was like “Hooooo dear, yet another banal jazz singer, let's get bored”. But that was indeed one of the best musical surprise I ever had. Thana Alexa made it sound so different, so refreshing, so original, so emotional. I wasn't prepared for that. All the musicians were so great this night. A musical experience I'll probably never forget. Thank you so so much. I had tears in the eyes during the whole concert, I rarely feel like this.
Please, let me know if you're planning to come in France again. Otherwise, I guess I'll have to come in the United States to hear you again ;) . Let me also know if there is any way to download your albums in a lossless format (FLAC/FLAC24, APE, WAV, …)! You really deserve better than Amazon or iTunes lossy MP3.

Absolutely brilliant. Alexa is not only perfectly mastering all the rhythmic, dynamic, phrasing, vocal nuts and bolts but has also developed an astonishing sense for the architectural bends of soloing, offering an enormous Trip factor .

Damn your vocal solo was on point. Really great rhythmic and motivic development some of the best vocal improv I have heard in awhile.

I've been a professional drummer/hand + finger percussionist for 35 years. I have always loved polyrhythmic, polymetric and odd time signatures for my whole life. Apropos of that, I just love your arrangement sense (loved 'Take Five' in 7/4, too!)
Anyway, I'm really excited that you are going to be playing the Kuumbwa Jazz center in Santa Cruz (where Donny McCaslin is from, btw) next week. I'll pass the word to all my peeps there.
