I remember as kids in summer of 1967 we heard that a ship had sunk under the BW Bridge-that was BIG news. We rode our bikes from 11th and Wall St. up on the bridge to get a birds eye view looking down. There used to be houses under the bridge, all covered with cement dust.

Thanx for the movie credit, my Dad would be pleased that his home movie was shared with so many. Keep up the good work on your history recordings.

I also vividly remember going to the beach in the back seat of the car and when we drove past Peerless Cement, You could feel the tremendous heat from those giant rotary kilns cooking the cement and the loud noise.

Also... I think the (50,000 ? watt) light bulb at the top of the "permanent memorial" at 11:50 wound up at the PH Museum. They had it on display a long time ago.

You can see the Sidney Smith Dock (made from the freighter) on satellite maps at lat 42.982009, long - 82.414198 (Sarnia, ON) -- here's a link to the map on Google: www.google.com/maps/place/42%C2%B058'55.2%22N+82%C2%B024'51.1%22W/@42.982009,-82.4163867,546m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d42.982009!4d-82.414198
Look for Canadian Coast Guard and a big "map" of the Great Lakes (Dow Chemical donated it to the city of Sarnia as a wading pond or fountain in Centennial Park, but it was drained within the past 10 years, I guess some time after Dow left the city). It's amazing how big the "map" is -- the Michigan peninsulas stand out clearly. To the east (left) of the "map," you'll see the vague outline of a ship. There might even be a ship docked at the time the satellite image is taken (it varies). The Sidney Smith is a parking lot/driveway now.

There are a lot of things at the museum that probably will never see the light of day again.

I remember watching the movie of young Tom Edison then going to the rock in Pine Grove Park I think it said Edison lived within a 1000 feet of the rock. Do you know if in the movie where the train trestle was out, ( tom was blowing the whistle to stop the other train) if that was the train bridge at the mouth of Black river

Do you know when the oil storage tanks north of pine grove were removed?

No. I think that was just Hollywood enhancement :)
