Great video like most of the RM vids. I come here to get details and technical info I don't find elsewhere. Boot weight is a good example. Weight is a big deal to me and here I learned the weight of both boots. I wish it was included in the specs. As for the boots, I currently own both the T7 and 5.5. I like the fit and comfort of the T7 but the construction and protection is inferior to the 5.5. The down side of the 5.5 is that its a bit heavier than the T7 and clumsy to walk in. That's why I'm considering the 4.5 enduro. Its definitely lighter than the 5.5 and without the flex loc system should have better agility. Need to try them on. I'm also considering the SIDI X3 enduro but they are hard to find.
First impression of wearing Leatt 4.5 Enduro . Two thumbs up. I already own a pair of Alpinestars Tech 7 in size 9 US. I just ordered the Leatt 4.5 in size 9 US for replacement. My initial impressions after unboxing boots and comparing them to Tech 7. The Leatt 4.5 weights identical to the Tech 7 in size 9. Both came in at 3lb. 13.9oz. Both boots are same height. The Leatt 4.5 tapers about 1/4" in rear. As RMC ( Chase ) mentioned, the Leatt seems to run slightly snugger around heal and toe box area. The Leatt actually seems to fit me better. In shoe size, I am somewhere closer to 9.5. I have a small and narrow foot that measures around 268mm. in length with thin sock. Cleary the Leatt 4.5 Enduro is going after the Tech 7. Both have very similar liners. The foot bed of Leatt is very grippy. I had to work to get my Superfeet insole in. The enduro sole seems grippy. The forward walking flex is very similar to Tech 7. The toe area will need some breaking to bend. Thanks RMC for your various Leatt 4.5 reviews. Spot on thus far.
@@rmatvmc Just got back into riding after taking 10 years off due to career, family etc. Anyway, Chase you do an awesome job with these videos you haven't disappointed me with my purchases. Ill let you know how my leatt 4.5s hold up over time! Thanks again man! I hope RM knows how helpful you are to everyone who buys through RM!
Hi Chase, I wrote to you from Italy a few weeks ago about the “mid level boots” video. This is my opinion: leatts are not easy to find here in northern Italy, tech7s offer the best peeg feel and the gaerne fastback offer better protection. In the end I bought the gaerne fastback for greater protection and durability as I use DRC oversized footpegs, the gaerne sole is stiffer than alpinestars but after a short time you have total control. Your videos are always excellent, I hope someday to see a video with leatt vs gaerne. Greetings from Italy. Andrea
Thanks for the feedback, Andrea! Glad you're liking our Fastback boots. Let us know how they are doing after long-term use. Have fun out there. - Chase
I went with the 5.5 enduros after my last set of Tech 7s - I thought moving from the ole reliable 7s was a risk at the time but I'm very happy with the Leatts. Just wish they had more colour options.
Can I also add that the grip from the rubber style sides on the Leatts is next level, they really lock you in and save tired arms on long rides. Was a nice added bonus to them that I wasn't expecting. 👍
I have 3 Tech 7s. 1 is the Drystar for off-road. Unfortunately the boot doesn’t live up to its name. It seems that Alpinestars used the same die cut for it as the regular Tech 7s. It always leaves a gap when buckling up. I assume it’s because the additional padding wasn’t taken into account when they used the same die cut. I get more water with it than the regular Tech 7s.
Just ordered my boy the Leatt 4.5 for his upcoming 2022 Motocross season, he has all new Leatt protective gear, and a new 2022 KX85 to go for this coming season
It would be nice if you also sowed the shape of your foot. I noticed that many MX riders have very narrow and sometimes even flat feet - probably because they have been riding since childhood and kept squeezing their feet into narrow boots and because they have not been walking or running a lot.
I don’t disagree. I run the 4.5’s, not placing blame on anyone but myself, but I’m out the whole 2024 riding season due to having my ACL rebuilt because of a foot dab the end of last year. Only had knee pads on, not braces. Live and learn..
@@jefferyblackman3694 how do they rebuild ACL, i agree the same thing happened to me luckily it was at the end of the riding season so i had a few months to heal
@@kevinbroadway5398 It caused a complete rupture of my ACL, I had a quad graft done. They took out the middle third of my quad tendon, drilled a couple holes in my femur and tibia pulled the harvested tendon through the holes and set it in place with screws. Long recovery , Surgeon is telling me it will be 8-9 months before I’m on a bike again.
Hi all at Rocky Mountain...We need a decent outlet like yours in the UK, a lot off independent store's that struggle with stock. Any thought that you would expand to the UK? Thanks
Excellent review chase. In general RM does some of best reviews. As others have note, far better than just some printed article. I am now considering a Leatt 4.5 Enduro instead of replacing my Tech 7 with another one. Thanks. Kam
Our rider here that uses the 4.5 says that they have held up good for him. But it's hard to say if they're more or less durable than the Tech 7. Some riders are harder on boots than others too. We have several riders that wear the Tech 7 and they've all held up really good for them.
How large is your calf? They have a pretty good opening size at the top. Not as big as some of the other brands, but it's not bad. I have a 16" calf circumference and I wear the carbon cell braces and I didn't have any issues. - Chase
@@rmatvmc thank u very much fr reply. My calf is above 16.5". But my foot size is also big uk12. So may b it'l work. Thanks for making informative videos. Do u have video on knee cap/gaurd?
Strange you think the tech 7 has a wider toe box? Because I bought the 4.5 because it has the widest toe box out of any boot I've tried on and the tech 7 width was too skinny.
you forgot to mention that alpine stars offers sizes down to a size 5. Accommodating women with smaller feet. I wish Leatt had higher end boots for smaller feet. youth boots just doesn't cut it
Man it’s hard to beat the tech 7 I have a old pair from 2009 that I still put on from time to time they are pretty hammered but have been so good to me I can’t throw them out I will say the newest tech 7 I have have great frame grip and are the best boots I have ever rode in
Leatt does make a Hydradri version of the 4.5 that does have a waterproof liner. Alpinestars also has a version of the Tech with the Drystar waterproof liner.
If you've ever wanted to try a Gaerne Sg12 or 22, I would say that they are one of the more generous options as far as length. So, a 10 might work for you pretty well. We have our Fit Guarantee so you can get free two-way shipping if they don't fit right and you want something else.
currently breaking in the 4.5 they feel like a broken foot brace toe area and ankle area are stiff as a rock 🪨 i could see someone falling off their bike prior to breaking them in
@@davidbeauvais1364 My respect to you for Not giving up on them but After several rides i just couldn't Get them to be comfortable soo i handed them down to my younger brother i ended up getting some Gaerne Sg10s they where also stiff at the beginning but Broke in much quicker
Bad timing for this video... Obviously right now buy leatt because they are actually in stock. Any idea when tech 7’s will be on your shelves? They are definitely the way to go.
Never will I ever buy anything Alpinestars again. The quality has gone downhill and the customer service is non existent. Gearne,Leatt,Klim,Fly from now on .
Every pair of Alpinestars I have every owned, regardless of level, have always fit like a pair of my favorite gym shoes.
The first time I put my foot in my 5.5, I thought I would hate them, but after 2 laps, I'm actually as comfortable as in my house shoes in them.
Leatt 4.5 is a great boot! Definitely my favorite out of the past few pairs ive owned
