How did Newton guess the Inverse Square Rule for Gravitation || for Class 9 in Hindi

  • In this Science (Physics) video in Hindi for Class 9 we explained how Newton could have guessed the inverse square rule for the universal law of gravitation. This is a topic from Chapter 10 - 'Gravitation' for class 9th from NCERT.
    It is said that Newton guessed this inverse square law from Kepler's 3rd law of planetary motion which states that the cube of the mean distance of a planet from the Sun is proportional to the square of its orbital period T.
    Here, another concept has been used. For uniform circular motion the acceleration is towards the centre and its magnitude is equal to the ratio of the square of the speed to the radius of the circular path.

    sir i am a student of class 10... this is not really me. actually we both are here in front of the laptop screen and while watching your video we have found a question that if both the objects apply same force of attraction or lets say gravitation then why the smaller object revolve around the bigger object? I mean to ask why they dont stay stable in the universe?

    • @edupoint.secondary
      @edupoint.secondary  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Consider two masses, one big and one small.
      If revolution happens, it is not correct to say that the small revolves around the big.
      Reality is - both revolve around the common centre of mass. This centre of mass resides very close to the centre of the big mass, so we don't see it's revolution.

    If we take an example of pencil and the earth since the earth is attracting a pencil with some force and according to Newton's third law of motion here also the pencil will also attract the earth with same force but since the mass of earth is larger than that of pencil that's why the pencil gets attracted towards Earth and falls on it.
    On the other hand..
    *We know that Sun attracts Earth and by the Newton's third law of motion the Earth also attracts Sun since the mass of Sun is greater than the earth , then why the earth does not get attracted towards Sun and falls on Sun's surface?*
