      Gem Mint Miners yeah man there are these two guys I run into a lot in games I play and they don’t care what two cards they have or what positions they are in or what price they are getting if they have and suited cards they play them or any face card they play them but what kills me is they don’t care about money until they hit with those style of cards and someone hits better then they get tilted and it’s so funny but even more so they are still winning players and it kills me because they think it’s good poker instead of good luck. One of them is a good friend of mine and I try to explain why it’s not good poker and he says well I like those cards and I had a feeling they were going to hit and I’m like yeah K2 hit back door boat congratulations but how many times does that work never for me lol but they make so much money from playing a donkey hand like that because they are getting paid off because it’s hard to believe they call/bet $1000 to go runner runner to a boat or baby flush ha!

      Stop complaining about bad players. These are the people you want in your game. If you can't beat them in the longrun its because you suck. I see people always getting butthurt at the poker table because I make unorthodox plays, if you are playing straight face forward poker you become easy as fuck to read and tbh you're a donkey.

    The floor made the incorrect ruling on the AKcc hand, in regards to the betting being reopened, unless they have a house rule. This is a commonly misunderstood rule, and is in people's minds from their limit days. From Robert's Rules of Poker section 14, No Limit rule 3: ... may not subsequently raise an all-in bet that is less than the full size of the last bet or raise. (The half-the-size rule for reopening the betting is for limit poker only.)
    The () are in the rule itself, so you know this gets looked up a lot. So, his all-in would have needed to be to $920 to reopen the betting.

    • @BradOwenPoker
      @BradOwenPoker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The way they enforced it during the AK hand is how I've seen it everywhere. In my opinion, it seems fair and logical as long as that's how it's always ruled in the room.

    • @dannymccrae3070
      @dannymccrae3070 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed that was a bad ruling

    • @jascarn
      @jascarn 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BradOwenPoker you might be confusing a few rules here. If a player throws in 50% more when they are "calling" they are forced to min raise, such as you bet 30 and they throw in 50. However, when a player is all in like this, it must be a full raise to reopen the action. I've actually worked at a few places you've vlogged and various casinos on the east coast and it has always been this way in my ten years of working and playing.

    • @BradOwenPoker
      @BradOwenPoker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Usually not one of my favorite vlogs to watch, but dude I gotta hand it to you for holding on like that against a maniac at the table. There's no way to play them except get it in as good as you can (I'd have flung chairs at the J-2 showdown) and pray that the Gods of Odds are with you. Absolutely LOVED the semi-bluff/straight you made against the Q-high flush because it was your read on his play and his timidness against big bets that won the pot. On those days where the Gods of Odds are against you, the truly good players can still rely on that kind of science! Well done! Now subscribed.

    re: AKcc action being reopened... that ruling is either flat out incorrect OR i've never seen it before implemented at the various i've played at. re-raise always has to be full minimum to re-open the action.

    • @ilovebrandnewcarpets
      @ilovebrandnewcarpets 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought the same. Might be casino specific. Bad rule, if so IMO.
      Also, can we get a ruling on how bad it is to call $500 with queens and then fold them for $305 more?

    • @zydron8910
      @zydron8910 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's correct. Since the bet was an All-In it means that it only needs to be more than half the minimum legal raise in order to re-open the action. That's how it's been at every casino I've worked at, unsure if it is different anywhere else.

    • @mikedennehy2454
      @mikedennehy2454 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I play at a lot of casinos in Australasia and it seems to be a different rule at different casinos. Sometimes a full bet, sometimes a half-bet or more, sometimes even if the bet is $1 more, the fact they have gone all-in means the action is still open.
      I've never seen it where the action skips a player and then comes back to them though!

    • @stlbigbad23

      Every casino is different. Some only require 1/2 of the raise/bet.

    Reminds me of the old timer who once said, "Was in the greatest game ever last night." I asked, "How much did you win?" His answer: "I lost $5,000 but it was a great game!"
    Sometimes we unwittingly become the action.

    Hey Brad I'm just a random subscriber, but your KK hand, I really like a check in that spot for many reasons.
    1. It hits the callers range more, yes u can have pocket 10s. But that's pretty much it. Chance of u having 55s and 44s is less likely. These small pairs like to flat call and set mine.
    2. It really disguised the strength of your hand and let u see what ur opponents are capable off. You can even induce weaker hands like 10J or draws to bet for u.
    Then u can re evaluate and decide if u wanna see the turn or pop it. But the board is fairly dry enough as well that you can check back.
    3. Our opponents are uncapped. Look how you got raised behind u. Now it's hard to navigate cause your opponents can really have anything. And its a shitty spot with overpair being raised on 1054 flop. Think bout it. Bad spot for us to play for stacks. We are almost shooting in the dark.
    4. If we get draw out, oh well. It happens. But some spots you have to just take that risk or else you end up calling raises not too sure if ur ahead or behind for stacks.
    Anyways, just my 2 cents. Keep grinding bro. Thanks for the great content. Good luck in ur future sessions

    A short all-in raise, even if it is over half of the previous action, doesn't reopen the betting in all but one of the half dozen casinos I have played in. The exception was a small casino in Las Vegas and I thought they might have made that ruling because the player who wanted to raise was a local regular.

    Yeah when you got Merle "John Daly" Pokerplayer gripping and ripping ATC for insane bets you know you better have something. The J2 kinda made me die inside a bit because I've been on both ends of that. Nice recovery to not be stuck 3K.
    Brad, obviously we don't see every hand but I've noticed that the hands you show tend to show you taking an aggressive stance most of the time. How often do you find you change your game up at the table?
