I decided to have a theme for each month and to work on everything it comprises. So February is "KITCHEN" - it means taking care of my nutrition, preparing food in advance, but also organizing my kitchen, eating more vegetables, shopping more sustainably or zero waste and so on. January was more or less about SCHOOL, but March is set to be about FRIENDS. I hope this system works for me. It seems less overwhelming than doing everything at once.
About going to protests: I know the awkward feeling and in my experence it helps quit a lot to not go alone but at least with one friend, even better with a small group of friends 😊
I have started to set a theme for the year rather than vague goals. This year's theme is recovery because I took ill for the majority of last year. I am going to try my best to get back to where I was this time last year. I am not sure how possible it will be, but it is something to work towards.
In university, we use a goal planning method called STAR Specific - goal cant be too abstract Timely - whats the time frame Action oriented - detail how you'll achieve the goal Realistic - make the goal achievable
We use something similar in many projects I've been in (at school and outside), SMART: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound, and it works really well!
I also prefer To-Do lists, which basically are specific intentions, to resolutions, which tend to be vague and hardly ever achievable. A few goals from my list: read at least 20 minutes a day, cook/bake something new every week, repair what I have more, do yoga every day and not get frustrated with myself if I fail... Have a great year everyone 💚🌿.
GODT NYTÅR🍾🥂 I have never done the new year resolution thing. Don't need that stress factor hanging over my head every day😄 Every day is a gift and i like to enjoy every day as they come.
Would love to join a cooking class!! My partner brought me the idea of a New Years Bingo. You write down everything as you said, but in a way that makes it feel a bit easier or funnier. Recommend that!
For the first time, I don't have any NY goals/resolutions, despite historically being a goal-oriented person. 2023 was a bit difficult for me so I'm going to be easy on myself this year and just do things I enjoy. I do have general 'intentions' (not so much goals) to make more connections this year and spend more time with friends/family.
Happy New Year everyone, from an actual librarian! On my list this year is making underpants myself from existing T shirt fabric, and taking at least three singing lessons. ❤
A lot of US libraries have partnerships with apps to rent books, audiobooks, and music through the app. You just need your library card. I have a hard time making myself go to a library and hunt down books to read, but scrolling through on my phone at home makes me read SO MUCH MORE. And it is 100% free. I use hoopla and Libbey. Now I happen to be someone who gets mad when I get a text or notification while reading on my phone and therefore don't check it. I realize I am not the norm. My new years resolution is to stop rereading the same books and read the many new books I have been collecting from goodwill by my favorite author. They are on the same bookcase in my living room, but I just keep going back to my favorites 🤦♀️🤷♀️
I'm so happy I found your channel just two weeks ago! I wanted to organize my life as vegetarian going vegan, being even less waste, just putting more attention into those things that always mattered to me, but I lacked ''guidance'' in it. YT recommended one of your videos to me and since then I've been watching more and more every day, catching up with your content, and let me tell you - thank you! You helped me realize many things about environmentalism and how to be and live more aware. I'm finally going into a new year with much clearer and better goals 🖤
I really love the idea of a to-do list that is specific, with both big and small goals. On my part, I think I'm going to keep with my "post a Patreon post every week, publish a story every year" goal and perhaps one other small thing. I was disabled and chronically ill to begin with and last year felt like a never-ending chain of plague attacks, so I'm consciously trying to keep expectations down and not give myself a hard time over not doing enough, not being enough. The small thing I might do, that I have started doing, is discussing being sustainable from a disabled POV, my POV to be precise, and trying to look at things holistically rather than reacting to any random collection of factoids thrown at me at any given time. I saw someone argue for plastic bag use because it's "so difficult to recoup the upfront environmental cost of using reusables" and for a moment it made sense, but I went and sorted out my thoughts and decided it really didn't for the things I care about, such as microplastics killing wildlife and potentially leaching toxins into the environment. So being more mindful of my choices and trying to do more research before reacting to things eco-bloggers say is my "fluffy" resolution for 2024.
I do not do new year resolutions, because it always backfired and made me really depressed whenever I did not "achieved" one (I even had only from 1-3 a year, so I would not feel overwhelmed). But having New Year resolutions did not work for me because of three main issues: - Having it as something that I HAVE to, do gave it a lot of weight, and as a consequence if I did not complete even one of them, I would self-flagellate about it for long periods. - I am someone who likes stress and deadlines ( I work better under those circumstances), HOWEVER for me resolutions are big changes, and most of the time HABIT changes, which are not easy to overcome. So having a deadline for it made it even more stressful, which paralized me whenever I made a mistake and made it harder to continue and complete it/them. - Sometimes I would wait for the New Year to start my "resolutions", so the last two months of the year I would go "wild" and break as many "rules" I would start having from New Year. Thus, after several failures, I realized that for me it works when: - There is no deadline. Bad habits are life demons, and I will always fight with them. So if once or twice I gave into temptation, as far as I go back on track it is fine. Nobody is perfect, so neither I am ;p - If I want to change anything I can do it anytime of the year, unless there is an external condition that forces me to start right away (like some illness or the likes). Currently my resolution is to cook more at home instead of ordering and to reduce my meat meals to twice a week. It is going good with the second one, but the first one is so-so... but better than 5-6 months ago, so I am a bit proud of myself ^^
I would love to attend a fine dining cooking class with you, I would even travel to Denmark for it, which is not that far from where I live in Germany. I have been vegan for over 8 years now and have all the day-to-day cooking down, but would love to expand my horizon and kitchen with more gourmet cooking.
Protests became bearable when I started using earplugs and just got more conscious of my very ND needs, one BIG one being noise sensitivity. And hinestly - for activism to be sustainable, forcing yourself to go to protests doesn't work if it takes a toll, that's why it's great there are so many types of being an activist
Also, organizing protests or helping logistics/advertizing it etc., which I've done, is something maybe even more worthy depending on the cause and no need to be part of the loud crowd to add to the cause!
For 2023 I made a new years resolutions, and for the first time I keept it 😁 it was to not buy a plastic bag in a year. This year it will not be a resolution, but a habit 🎉
@@lolafalona6451 no problem! I take a photo of me doing the activity to fill in the square so at the end of the year I have a like the real version of a vision board if that makes any sense? It makes me more motivated to tick things off :)
Would love a video specifically about your "Protest more" goal. I'm the same way as you in that i feel more socially awkward than i should at protests and would love to see your ways of how to overcome that
Hi Gitte!! I went vegetarian for a while, but my partner has some dietary restrictions and I work full time + go to school, so it started getting difficult to manage. It felt like we were eating the same 3-5 recipes every week and was hard 😅 but I want to start reducing my meat consumption again and have been wanting to get better at cooking, so I love your suggestion about learning how to make 10 new plant based meals! Can’t wait for Sustainable Gourmet!
Hi from Paris, France! I would so LOVE to do a plantbased fine dining class, even if it means going to another country. I love new experiences and this is usually what I try to include in my new years' 'intentions' ('to-do' or 'resolutions' sound too strict/anxiety-driven for me). Alongside new experiences, I usually include a fair amount of movies I'd like to watch with a very specific and premade list so I cannot escape; And a number of bucket-list items I'd wish to complete. Have a good year everyone!
I do the same as you with my resolutions with a little twist. I have 12 things that I want do, where each month has one of them as a focus, so that I remember to look through my list monthly. And then I have some habits that I also have on a list.
Gittemary, your commitment to zero-waste living is truly remarkable! Your transition from consumerism to a sustainable, plastic-free lifestyle is inspiring. Your content offering inspiration, recipes, and guides for reducing waste and embracing non-materialistic values is invaluable. Your lectures, classes, and workshops pave the way for a more sustainable future. Keep shining a light on this important journey! 🌎♻ #ZeroWasteChampion #SustainableLiving
I’m going for a “less buy year”. I had spent a ton of money on online shopping last year and will only be shopping online once a month for a bulk purchase of items I can’t get locally ex: shampoo bars, laundry sheets, etc. I do have kids so if they happen to need clothes, I’ll be going thrifting instead of shopping online for those.
With consideration to the fact that I have several severe chronic illnesses, I have zero need to add more stress to myself by making "resolutions". But with that being said I have two things that I need to work on for managing my body and mind for the long haul. 1. Learning how to pace and rest before needing to do so for the cfs/me diagnosis in the attempt to prevent myself from having to deal with post exertional malaise which will help in preventing CIDP exacerbations. 2. This will be a continual goal of mine- keeping my diabetes well controlled in order to stave off potential complications (kidney disease/failure, neuropathy not related to my CIDP diagnosis and the big one- preventing vascular disease that can lead to chronic wounds and even amputations of various body parts).
Last time I did "resolutions," I used this strategy, and it worked really well for me! It's concrete and helped me break up progress over the year. Right now we're in a "stay alive and figure out what I'm doing with my life" phase, so my only concrete goals are to 1. Give birth and 2. Finish a specific postpartum workout program.
I make resolutions throughout the year, not on January 1st. I use an app to track my progress to keep myself accountable as I try to stack up on good habits.
I like CGP Grey's method of new year's themes! I think that having themes is broad and allows you to make lots of choices in accordance to your theme of choice.
I want to become consistent with my yoga practice and my running. Prioritising self care is also a big goal for me, withouth which the first two ones can't happen. wish me luck!
Opera! Wonderful! I love opera and this glorious art form is so inspiring. Let us know what opera you get to see. I have plans to go to NYC in May to see two operas at the Met. The highlight of my year.
YES! I love seeing Invisible Women on peoples reading list!!! I have to take breaks from reading it or I just get too angry. My husband actually read it first and all throughout reading it, he would just stop and look at me and ago, "I am so sorry. The patriarchy sucks." I plan on rereading it this year! Goals: less scrolling, more reading. I didn't read as much as I would have liked last year (I did start grad school, so I was reading, but nothing for fun), find an exercise that doesn't make me flare up and be consistent, dial back on caffeine. I already cannot drink alcohol (triggers migraines now), same with most sodas (reg/diet), so I am trying to do one cup of coffee a day (I used to drink half a pot a day), in the same area, just drink more water, I set up alarms on my phone to help remind me. Also I am doing a low buy/no buy year. I have all of the clothes that I need, I have all of the art supplies, shoes, stationary, and so many things I can do with all of those things, I don't need more.
You're actually doing your resolutions better reachable than most other people. It is scientifically proven that makeing a goal specific (what do you want to acchieve, how many times, what do you need for it etc), giving it a deadline (this year) and deviding it into managable steps is the most effective way to reach a goal. While on the other hand having a goal like "eating more healthy", without specifically defining what that means to you, is too vague and through that harder to reach, since there is no action plan involved. I didn't really set myself goals/resolutions for 2024, but at the end of 2023 I realised that I wanted to learn more about embroidery and visual mending because I hate throwing away clothing I love to wear because it has some holes. So funny enough we have one goal in common. ;)
I love going to the theatre to see ballets, operas or plays. It always feels sort of more of an adult thing than going to the cinema I think. I don't really have resolutions but a "could do" list : I want to learn how to knit and started with simple loops so far. I'm aware and have some skills in British Sign Language and I'd love to practise more again and I'd love to know the alphabet in Braille. I got more into reading last year again, after making the drastic decision to cancel Netflix. I read 16 books last year which is a lot for me, cause it took me some time to get back into reading. I want to read more this year (usually into everything that includes crime, gore, murder and Mortuary related stuff) and my plan is to read more non fiction as well. My friend gifted me the book Wild Power for Christmas, it's about the female cycle which I want to be more in tune with and read more about it.
I really like your list. I love audible, i don't like to exercise, but I like walking, so that is what I do. I listen to a book while walking, it works really well for me.
Love your NY to do list, so much better than resolutions. I for one practice intentions, as in: I intend to spend more time in nature, camp solo at least once this year & expand my garden. Your approach sounds like S.M.A.R.T. goals, which are so wise & further proof of what a baddy you are!! ✨ Blessed Be!!! ✨
Something I started last year but want to continue on: when cooking for meat super fans in my family, I replace half the meat with a veg-based protein. Sort of like shrink-flation, but for animal protein. Veg-flation? I love your content, especially the anti-greenwashing topics!! 💚💚
Happy New Year everybody ✨. For 2024 I wanna make sure to track my intake of veggies and fruit to make sure I eat a sufficient amount. I also wanna reach level 50 in Pokémon Go in a non stressful way and I wanna learn crocheting 🧶. Those are my personal goals.
What a brilliant idea to frame your goals in terms of a to do list instead of resolutions! I’m going to have to let this idea sink in, but I think this could get me excited about resolutions again, as I had otherwise stopped doing them
I got sustainable badass for Christmas and one of my goals for the year is to start 1 new sustainable habit every month. I am so so so excited for your cookbook to be in English!
This is so much better than "traditional" resolutions. I'm moving to more realistic ones myself like "I wish to go to the gym 12 times next year" that's once a month, I think I did 12 times last year, it wasn't that regular and I'd like it to be but it's not realistic for me to set a resolution "I'm going to go to the gym every month", things happen and I'm not going to make myself feel bad if I miss a month or two. I also like it to be more concrete than "I wanna be in a better shape". Also, disclaimer, I do not wish to loose weight or sth, I wish to feel better, to be able to run longer, lift heavier things, feel mentally better etc.
Invisible Women is amazing!! Absolutely rage-inducing, but it completely changed the way that I view the world around me and I often find myself quoting from it (as I work with all men)
happy new year also from DK :-) My "to do list" is to get over my anxiety and get out to collect trash, because it makes me so depressed to see all the trash on the route and the forest, and in the city
Yes, yes and yes! Ever since I started eating vegan, around 12 years ago, I have missed something and the more I got interested in to cooking I have felt the urge to develop my skills - a fine dining course is what I need! Love your content, you way of inspiring and just beening you. A big thank you for everything this year - all the way from Kiruna in the north of Sweden!
I've also wanted to learn embroidery this year to repair my clothes! I got some looms and thread at my local second hand charity shop, but I'd love to come with you on your journey if you'll be learning too! happy new year!🎉
Love your specific list! Good luck! Embroidery is on my to learn list too 😄 I have a hard time finding clothes with color patterns that I like, so I want to be able to add them myself to thrift store finds.
Happy New Year, Gittemary!🎉 May all sustainable resolutions be implemented to the best of our ability! A question - would it be possible for you to make a video on veganism in families with kids - I'm sure you've come across many people who've been practicing this together with their partners OR been looking for a middle ground in case their partners aren't big fans of the idea. It's genuinely one of the main 2024 challenges for me - to come to an agreement with my non-vegan partner as for how we gonna raise our future children food-wise. The common arguments are 'you can't force your children to eat what you eat', 'we are natural predators, to deny that is a delusion', and 'you can't have everything your way'. I've already accepted that compromises will have to be made, but meat - any type of flesh, including seafood - is an absolute no in my books. How can vegan parents better approach the question, and where is the middle ground - if any?
Happy New Year Gittemary. Lots of wonderful goals for 2024. The macarons are on my list as well, along with clafoutis and other French dishes. Happy 2024.
I'm going to try to stick to a mindfulness meditation routine this year. The book 30 Days to Reduce Stress by Harper Daniels has been an awesome start. Then I'm going to read the Tao Te Ching and The Gita.
Hell yea I would so much attend a workshop with you! Though hope it would be in other cities than just Aalborg - travelling there with a baby is not an option atm 🤷♀️
I think I might be a little bit of a genius. I'm thinking of using the contents of my paper shredder as a papermache filling for my homemade dress form! Thoughts?!
If you like Invisible Women (although like is a strange word to use for something that makes you angry) you should also read The Authority Gap-also excellent
Hi :) I love baking macarons and I‘ve kinda perfected my egg-based ones. Now, I‘m starting to try out different plant-based options, however, I haven’t found the perfect one yet. I bought some potato protein because a vegan blog wrote about using that instead of aqua faba. But it hasn’t worked well for me. So now I’m interested: What is the protein base of your recipe?
Love this video! Hope you arent too hungover! Re: dimpster diving do you have any tips for starting? Im kind of anxious and im not one for dealing with resistance but i think it's worth investigating?
gittemary: i want to repair my clothes. me, looks down at a pair of scrub pants that I'm patching a hole in the knee using rainbow Stitch (of lilo and) leftover fabric used to make take home bandanas for dogs at work. 😅🪡🧵
In this year my new years resolution is to read 16 books (read or listen) Get my podcast running again - one episode a week (52 episodes this year Host a live Canva workshop Pick up 3 items of trash when ever I leave the House Continue on being a vegetarian / only eating fish Maximum once a month Hvis der er en dansker på linjen der gerne vil overtage F for feminist når jeg har genlæst den, så sig til 🫶🏻

Yeeeees the cookbook in English 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
NEW INTRO?? I just got your book as a Christmas gift from my coworker and I am enjoying it so much. I can't wait to keep seeing your content!!
thank you for your activism!🍉
Your outfit in this video is so good looking, love it!
I'll come to your workshop!!
You should check out Sashiko. It's a Japanese style of embroidery that developed from mending. You'd love it!
I've also wanted to learn embroidery this year! Yay! Let's do this together. :) Be Blessed
Agree with the protests! I saw a free Palestine protest in my town Center but I felt so anxious 😭 wish I stayed now!
Invisible Women is amazing!! Absolutely rage-inducing, but it completely changed the way that I view the world around me and I often find myself quoting from it (as I work with all men)
happy new year also from DK :-)
My "to do list" is to get over my anxiety and get out to collect trash, because it makes me so depressed to see all the trash on the route and the forest, and in the city
Have you thought of doing an update video on how you are doing so far this year with the habits you discuss in this video?
Yes, yes and yes!
Ever since I started eating vegan, around 12 years ago, I have missed something and the more I got interested in to cooking I have felt the urge to develop my skills - a fine dining course is what I need!
Love your content, you way of inspiring and just beening you.
A big thank you for everything this year - all the way from Kiruna in the north of Sweden!
Sorry to hear about your Queen stepping down
I think you should be the new one
Queen Gitte sounds good to me 😂❤🏴
I second that👸
I LOVE your outfit in this ❤
I would love to see new videos on what you wear in a week :)
Invisible women is a good read. I have In Defence of Witches by Mona Chollet (English translation) on my pile for this year
You’re probably not gonna believe it, but I’ve just done the same thing right before watching this video 😅
A structured to-do list
Ooooh so inspiring, thank you! Please share the embroidery, I would love to see that. I try to get more into that for about 2 years or so
Wow, your food presentation is absolutely stunning!
My last years resolution was such a huge success I feel like I want to give it my all this year also 🎉 not sure what it is yet but im very motivated
Happy new year! I also don’t believe in New Year’s resolution but instead like to set personal goals.
I've also wanted to learn embroidery this year to repair my clothes! I got some looms and thread at my local second hand charity shop, but I'd love to come with you on your journey if you'll be learning too! happy new year!🎉
Love your specific list! Good luck!
Embroidery is on my to learn list too 😄 I have a hard time finding clothes with color patterns that I like, so I want to be able to add them myself to thrift store finds.
love your energy while going to tackle new year! amazing, inspiring video. :)
I'd like a video about how to get comfortable at protests, as I feel like a fish out of water at those too
Happy New Year, Gittemary!🎉 May all sustainable resolutions be implemented to the best of our ability!
Happy 2024.
I would so much like to be part of a plantbased goumet cooking class
I'm going to try to stick to a mindfulness meditation routine this year. The book 30 Days to Reduce Stress by Harper Daniels has been an awesome start. Then I'm going to read the Tao Te Ching and The Gita.
Hell yea I would so much attend a workshop with you! Though hope it would be in other cities than just Aalborg - travelling there with a baby is not an option atm 🤷♀️
I think I might be a little bit of a genius. I'm thinking of using the contents of my paper shredder as a papermache filling for my homemade dress form! Thoughts?!
Great idea!
@@sustainfem thank you
Stay Strong With resolutions, some of yours It is my to.
All the sustainability books in English! Please!
If you like Invisible Women (although like is a strange word to use for something that makes you angry) you should also read The Authority Gap-also excellent
⭐ Happy New Year ⭐
omg! Im waiting for your second book in english
Mine are based on aquafaba ☺️
happy new year!
Ooo I would so love to attend a workshop by you for vegan cooking :) if you could have some held in Copenhagen, it would be even better!
Hello Gittemary, I was curious if you have your cookbook available in English? Would love to get it! 🎉Happy New Years 🎉
Like she said in the video, the new cookbook is not out in english yet. Link in description for the other cookbook.
Lol yes I realize that now that she talked about later in the video 😅 I spoke too soon
@@Floralandgreens9528 😄
Godt nyt år!
Love this video! Hope you arent too hungover!
Re: dimpster diving do you have any tips for starting? Im kind of anxious and im not one for dealing with resistance but i think it's worth investigating?
Please come talk in London
Highly recommended invisible women!
I'm here for the protest related social anxiety group 🙌
"Beyonce's internet" 😂😂😂
My new years resolution is to not buy anymore yarn unless I have an order. My goal is to use up 5 totes of yarn.
❤❤
🍉❤️🍉❤️
I set myself 3 goals:
1. Survive (should be easy)
2. Finish my bachelor's degree
3. Learn to crochet 🧶
Do you have a goodreads account and if yes, can I add you?
gittemary: i want to repair my clothes.
me, looks down at a pair of scrub pants that I'm patching a hole in the knee using rainbow Stitch (of lilo and) leftover fabric used to make take home bandanas for dogs at work. 😅🪡🧵
(as I'm watching this video)
In this year my new years resolution is to read 16 books (read or listen)
Get my podcast running again - one episode a week (52 episodes this year
