After watching her brother having to get his butt shaved and a bath, I expected Juno to come out of that carrier in a fake moustache and wig like "Oh I'm not Juno! You seem to have the wrong cat. Well, I'll be on my way from this silly mishap. Ta-ta, good day!"
Cats being groomed have only two states of being: "Woe is me" and "I shall bathe in the blood of thine ancestors!" Fortunately, it appears these guys are the former.
I've started to clip the nails of my cat Benjamin (very large ginger tabby). Just managed to get the front ones done so far, he isn't impressed with me touching his paws. Have a lot less scratches now and I'm going to keep on top of them from now on. Also started giving him a daily groom. He's a short hair but seems to enjoy the grooming and has now started to request it in the mornings, he even rolled over and let me hold his paw out of the way to do his belly today. Baby steps but I want to get him in a routine for when he's shedding next. So far so good.
Maybe you can even try getting him accustomed to water, for a possible future where he might be unable to clean himself properly (as lots of cats past a certain age are)
I had huge orange Tom’s for many years. The only way, I could get their nails done was to swaddle them in a towel. That way I could isolate one paw from all of the others. They got better over the years but they were never willing participants. 😂
I got my rescue to be calm for toe trims. She knows that after we are done, however far I get on with it, she gets treats and pets and no more toe stuff for a least a few hours. She's learned this habit and is now more patient with the clippers. We've only had to go to the groomers once this year! Keep trying, don't give up.
We once had a cat who would go from zero to homicide the second she saw the water or had her tail touched. I’m jealous of Jesper’s early warning system.

Once my friends daughter and I found a stray cat, and we decided to take her in. He was ok with it but a huge dirt and germ freak so he said she wasn’t coming in unless we bathed her. So we did and she tried getting out of the tub many times, screamed like we were murdering her the whole time. 😂 she drew blood on both of us both a couple times trying to get out.

I will say, I bought some tools from your site mainly with our very fearful and anxiety ridden long haired cat in mind. The tool I chose for her has been a game changer. Because it is so much more effective, my mom (the least scary of us) is more motivated to brush her more often and that prevents the matts she was plagued with and has drastically reduced the number of hairballs she has. 😺
No one had invented a “happy hoodie “ when I was grooming. We used to make a hand towel into a roll and hold it around their neck. Secure, comfortable, and safe for the groomer. Cats were always a two person project. Nice to watch pet grooming after all these years

I'm very fortunate that all three of my cats like brushing. Two short haired, one very chubby. If we lived closer I would love to bring him to you for a brush and butt shave. One of the three has medium length hair - he's a beauty - but it's silky and he has NO undercoat. No matts. It's a good thing, because he loves brushing but halfway through he gets overstimulated and wants to play. Ouch.
