- In this video I go through the process of showing you how to swap the front pulley on your Yamaha Warrior 1700. This process will also work for Yamaha Roadstar motorcycles as well.

Hahaha...I'm old. My bikes are old. ('03 Warrior, '06 Wide Glide) I LOVE my Warrior ! I've studied that 33 pulley for awhile, so I really enjoyed the vid about it !
Recently, I would turn off the bike, walk away, and that rascal would try to start, till the battery died !
I pulled the starter, and found a piece of broken, starter brush chip would make contact. The starter magnets were good, re-brushed, and all was healed !!

Dude, great videos on the warrior. I have a 2005 road star midnight silverado 1700 and there's not many DIY vids on youtube for things like this. Your bike is close enough that these are helpful vids. A big repair that I need to do, which there is no video online for that I can find, is the replacement of the middle drive gear. When I bought the bike, the pulley nut was loose and the splines on the end of the middle drive gear where they go into the drive pulley are damaged. Expensive job at the bike shop. It calls for about 4-5 hours labor. It may be a bit much to ask, but if you could do a video on that job it would be awesome and a huge help to many road star owners including myself.
I lived in Oklahoma a while back. I went to work and it was 75 degrees and it was 10 degrees when I got off work 8 hours later. While I have had no troubles with a belt drive I have toyed with the idea of going to a chain drive. I don't even know why. More versatile gear ratio changes? More durable in a gravel and dust environment? Easier to swap? Looks? Better torque transfer to the wheel? Just to change things out and make it more unique...

If you're in the market, G&S cycles makes a conversion kit for a chain drive. Check them out, if you haven't already. I like the belt drive, but mainly for maintainance or lack there of. Plus, when a belt snaps, usually there isn't anything else damaged. Chain drive is definitely needed though when you get into some of these big bore kits. You'll be running through belts like crazy.
I also lived in Oklahoma when I was going to school. Loved it there! Definitely know what you mean about the weather though. This week looks good, so I may button the bike up and try and get some rides in anyways. Thanks for watching brother!

At the end of the video you mention cutting out the center of the cover. Oem parts diagram shows the center is an individual piece of the cover.

If you have the tools and this video... You can do it. Try taking apart the Air Induction and Duel Airbox without instructions... I did! I made a big mess and it took several hours to work through the problems to get the air pods on.
Definitely have faith that anyone can do these mods. The clutch was probably the most intricate one to follow, but still think the video has helped a lot of people get theirs installed. Hopefully this one will do the same.

Front pulley nut thread must not be oiled or loctite or anything else...always use a new lock washer..and tighten to 150nm..02/05 warrior.

I know this is off topic a bit, but worth a shot, I’m going to convert my 2007 Road Star Silverado to chain drive because I have a wide wheel and 230mm tire I want to use. Will be using a 51 tooth sprocket brake system along with it.
Any tips on what size front sprocket to use, and perhaps where to get one??

Hey can someone show me what exactly needs to be ground down on the sprocket I have a 2000 route star that used to be my every day bike until I was hit head on and love to take the sprocket out of it and put it on my warrior

Hi Bryan, Happy New Year and thanks for another great video. I just swapped my pulley over the holidays and one thing I noticed is, that the Teflon rollers still fit with my new pulley after the belt tension was set. Should I use them now, or leave them better off? Thanks.
Hey Stefan, thanks for watching and commenting. I think you'll be happy with this mod. I'd pull the rollers, just to be safe. All it would do is cause a squeaking if they became a problem, but I'd just keep them off and not have to worry about pulling that cover again. Thanks again Stefan, hope the video helped. Do I need to have it ground down if I got the 31 from Barons?
Not at all. The 31 is a direct bolt on. Just be sure to torque it down to 110 foot lbs.
