Many shows have been cancelled after the pilot aired because it just didn't successfully impress, whether it be because the feedback was far more negative than positive and/or the number of viewers didn't meet the criteria for a show to go any further. Essentially if it's a good pilot with a high viewer rate and/or has excellent feedback, the rest of the season goes forward. Much like how the success of the take off of an airplane and successfully getting into flight smoothly, falls to the pilot who must do it so well, that the rest of the flight is then able to go from start to finish wonderfully.
The writer got it wrong. Lucifer is not the Devil. Lucifer died. Satan is the Devil. Lucifer is the God you guys call Jesus. The Jews call him Yeshua. Son of the Morning, Morning Star, Shining Star, Bright and Shining Star, Light in the Darkness... those are all the same God, who is the Son of God. Why do you think when he came back alive and out of the tomb, he shown like the sun?

Pretty sure God created him and Lucifer has a purpose (which is to guide the evil souls to the underworld). This is an awesome interpretation of the Devil if you look at it from a deeper perspective, not just take what preachers say for fact "the devil is out to devour your soul and shall force you to give in to your inner demons" and blah blah blah. The show also points out that the Devil (also one of God's creations) isn't just the embodiment of evil.
Also it's based off of DC/Vertigo comics interpretation of Lucifer Morningstar (who scales in power to Michael, who can stomp Spectre IE the embodiment of God's Wrath). He also has a daughter. It'd be more fruitful to complain to the people who made the comics this is based off of (lol), so enjoy that while we enjoy the show. :D

Thats basically the same plot as the series Forever which came out just before, the only difference is immortal vs devil, lol ... Ildy Modrovich wrote it as well as ~80 episodes of Lucifer... nice show still, Forever too.

I must admit that I did not read the spin-off comics, but I enjoyed Lucifer's character in the Sandman series very much. I had really hoped that all these raging fundamentalists in this comment section would realize that in this, Lucifer Morningstar is nothing more than a character created for a fictional universe, and this is not intended to be about actual Christianity or Christian lore. FICTION, people, you know what it means? Anyway, Lucifer's "You don't have to stay anywhere forever." in the comics really touched me. He had one of the firmest set roles in the universe, apart from the Endless. But like Destruction he left his post and stood above the expectations of everyone else. That's a good message and something I can actually apply to my own life.

I rarely get hooked that much by the first episode but this show is very, very promising. Love the cast (especially the main) and the humour they've decided to use in such abundance yet not over the top.
I finished the 6th season and came here. I couldn't believe it was 6 years ago. The characters look very young. Storms are brewing inside of me. I'm sorry because this kind of series will be hard to come by again. It has a special place among the classics for me.

I must admit that I did not read the spin-off comics, but I enjoyed Lucifer's character in the Sandman series very much.
I had really hoped that all these raging fundamentalists in this comment section would realize that in this, Lucifer Morningstar is nothing more than a character created for a fictional universe, and this is not intended to be about actual Christianity or Christian lore. FICTION, people, you know what it means?
Anyway, Lucifer's "You don't have to stay anywhere forever." in the comics really touched me. He had one of the firmest set roles in the universe, apart from the Endless. But like Destruction he left his post and stood above the expectations of everyone else. That's a good message and something I can actually apply to my own life.

The plot is not very interesting if you don't look at it from a philosophical angle. An if you're able to enjoy them for the work of art they are, than you are definitely old enough to know the difference between fiction and religious commentary.
Also, would you shun the idea of everyone being able to break free from the expectations of society and the world, if I hadn't mentioned that the words were spoken by the character Lucifer in the comics?
