Our useless brown envelope council went against there own rules ,of nothing on west of tram track then all of a sudden ,the little wedding chapel mainly a normal bar over there ,bent fkn council for sure .
14:26 a bit of trivia, that Waltzer outside the sandcastle is Taylors of Edinburgh, they have been going to my town for a Gala day and other areas around Scotland for many years, including of the time of this documentary!😊
Geoffrey thompson was a man who knew how to run a park. god rest his soul if only he could see how it was today he would be ashamed he stood up to the council
Keith was actually on about the 3 little pigs who were dressed up walkin around the park on this day, they cut that part out so it was made to look like he said it about the police 😂
I was coming close to my battery running out on this device but I was determined to see that new scary ride in action. I'm disabled myself but just accept that there are things I can't do any more. I love these documentaries.
We all love the 90s and for good reason, but it's sometimes easy to forget that it was a different time. Those disabled people would never be painted as the villains as they are during this documentary if it was made today, and there is no way the rollercoaster would be allowed to open without full disabled access if it was opened in 2021.
To be fair, you should really have easy access for disabled people. Especially when, at the time of filming pleasure beach was the UK number one tourist attraction, it's quite bad. I love the pleasure beach very much, but that is quite bad tbh especially with the attitude towards them, why should'nt people in wheelchairs or else wise disabled be able to go on the ride with every one else?
The problem was that the law was too loosely drafted and many companies misinterpreted it to mean that they should ‘provide disabled access to places and to accommodate such individuals within reason’ whereas the law was designed to ensure that disabled people had the right to the same experiences as able bodied people without restriction. Companies were also given a timescale (can’t remember the one for DDA95) to implement the changes required. In this case it meant altering the coaster in such a way that it wouldn’t break down if you needed a prolonged stop in the station. It’s worth noting that certain rides even to this day were given an exemption to the law based on their age (Big Dipper, Revolution etc) and even the Equality Act 2010 didn’t amend this
No big queues because big queues don't spend money. Pleasure Beach these days😫😩 In all seriousness though The only ride that can cope on the busy day at Pleasure Beach now is icon.
It's shocking the way those people with disabilities were treat. Treated like criminals & discriminated against. Totally shocking to see. Glad times have changed. They had every right to be able to enjoy the rides just the same as anyone else.
Think everyone I'm thinking it's just going to be ice blast v2 I think it's going to be a shot and drop tower... it's going to be the first new theme ride.... Amanda Thompson OBE has already said that the park can't keep relying on old rides. So I think it's going to be a combi what I like about Amanda's current things is she is keeping big attractions her dad created big one, Valhalla and now launch pad ❤
I love going BPB but this demonstrates exactly why legislation is required to force companies into treating people equally. The excuse the disabled should give way because the others have paid their money was insulting. The disabled had paid the same
Interesting how the park used to have free entry and only charged for the rides. They should still do that now if you ask me. I mean the wristbands are good but entry should still be free
As well as wristbands (which are fantastic value) you can also get a £6 Pleasure Beach Pass which allows you access to the park as well as unlimited access to the Pleasure Beach Express, Chinese Puzzle Maze & Dancing Water Show, you can then buy individual ride tickets with that. The small admission fee has allowed the park to improve dramatically in terms of having a welcoming atmosphere as well as safety. I'm all for it, the park is so much better now than it was 20 years ago!
I think the £6 charge is responsible, it helps pay to keep the park clean , the toilets clean etc . Alton towers chessington charge full admission prices even if you don’t ride
Tallest, fastest rollercoaster in the world at the time. It was a treat to tell your best mates at school you had been on it as a kid. And God knows they milked that world record for years even after it wasn't true.
Omg that was me with the pointer lol I actually went back with a family solicitor and put that guy bang to rights, if you listen the security guy ( probably dead now) his words was, " I don't care if you point the laser at divers" lol or whatever, the security was wrong; years later I did security for 13 years knowing he was full of shit as I knew the law in security, but being on tv got me lots of girls attention 😉
9:43 Disabled people destroying the kids fun we have an agreement they are gone and we are open everything back to normall now. JR was ruthless lol good guy in a different era.
Keep those young girls away, or they’ll tear me to pieces😂
you were a legend, Doris Thompson!
RIP🫡

Love how the diving compare calls for silence just as the rollercoaster thunders past with people screaming XD

“Talking of cats, here come the pigs” 😂😂😂

look how amazing this place was back in the day
Love the disabled activism. It’s people like this who have helped force change. Well done!
Selfish behaviour. The park were perfectly reasonable with what they requested.
Why choose to go in peak season with numerous wheelchairs anyway? Surely common sense would tell you to go in low season. 😅
lukebennett orrect and there there own worst enomy they could have got there ride but they did not wont to wait and be pationt
Lauren-in6pz correct
Ice blasts had quite a few changes from rebranding to completely changing the seats from 3x3x3x3 to 4x2x4x2
It’s easier to fill even numbers of rows on rides than odd ones. It helped fill seats and generate more income simply swapping seats around

It's not access. It's slowing the ride down in peak times.
@@lukebennett7149 yeah, and they wouldn't be restricted from going on at any time they want to go on now.
i will never stop going on rides as long as i live
The Thompson’s are a weird mix of snob and Carney
Liverpool’s number 2, Lee T Tory kiss arses is what they are!
10:13
My favourite part of the whole series is when Keith gets excited when JR says well done 😅😅
Here come the pigs 😳 I mean, you wouldn’t get away with that now would you...? 😂
Nope 😂
How this park ever survived with that management attitude I'll never know
They were awful. They should have just let them on and be done with it. The management were just stubborn and wanted to have the last word.
Love the stock sound gasp when diver slipped
dankryst it was a delibrate slip

Four years ago..its changed its wheelchair policy and entrance policy since then.
They have disabled access on rides, always have had it but if it’s not safe to load some disabled guests then they need to wait. I’m disabled myself.

Which member of the film makers contacted this disability group to spice up their programme?
No big queues because big queues don't spend money.

the guy at 5:35 sounds exactly like Tom Hiddlestone.
Old Mrs Thompsons dentures were only found last week by a metal detector on the South shore!
OMG that's brilliant 😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣

anyone else think the diver announcer was the inspiration for Ray Von?
Legend
I think Richard Da Vere from the last episode was
I said his hair reminded me of Ray Von 😂

Not free entry anymore

The general manager’s attitude is where mistakes happen. Get the customers though regardless to safety.
There would be legal action taken I bet if this happened now.
Thompson is correct Blackpool should look More like Las vagas or The Gold Ghost with Casinos and Hi rise's
But did Alton Towers charge to go on the rides lol good vid tho
Is JR or keith still alive ???
as far as im aware still alive.
It now has a entrance fee
Interesting how the park used to have free entry and only charged for the rides. They should still do that now if you ask me. I mean the wristbands are good but entry should still be free

Ryan Beet I agree

they will make you fell young agan so if i lift to my 90s i will be going on them and reminiscing of being young i love rides
£4.20 for a ride is a lot even by today’s standards!
Tallest, fastest rollercoaster in the world at the time. It was a treat to tell your best mates at school you had been on it as a kid. And God knows they milked that world record for years even after it wasn't true.
The big one today wud be around £5-£6 a go

I’m disabled and I’m disgusted with the way the disabled activist acted they was offered a response
Mr Ricardo very cool TH-camr king no I just go off peak ,
if they had been Patient they would have got there ride they were silly and they missed out they were not denied a ride just not at peek times
Because of there stubbornness they lost they shod have been happy that they could ride later
