Once a week videos are way more difficult than most would think, especially give the quality you're going after! I do like that you are using an Amazon page to help fund your efforts vs. simply begging for cash on Patreon.
Not like I have a huge following, but I try to do weekly, I just don't always have the parts. My weekly video is more of an additional incentive to do something on my trucks for sheer sanity's sake. That and maybe, just maybe another GMT400 Chevy owner will see something useful in what I'm doing.
Thanks for the additional information on the cage. that's my next large project on the K5. Question... I'm concerned about the C Pillars and overhead supports in the back seat being too low... I have '15 Suburban rear seats, like you, and they sit a couple inches high already. I'm worried about rear passengers hitting their heads on the cage. I also have a Softopper, so configuration would be very similar to you. Any thoughts? Thanks, Carl
I fully understand that it is what you wanted and the truck has been rolled and did well... but for information to others building a cage. The reason the V in the windshield is supposed to be upside down is because if you roll and have a point load (rock, log, etc) putting all the pressure on the middle of the top bar the upside down V will take that point load and distribute it to TWO points on the dash bar closer to the connection points (the closer to the connections the stronger) which means the roof is much less likely to cave in. By doing what Merrick did and putting a right side up V you are taking two loads from the top and multiplying them (bringing them together) at the weakest point of the dash bar (center, furthest from the connection points) Not trying to bash on this cage, I am just trying to inform anyone who may be doing something similar WHY it is normally done the other way.
man that roll cage worked pretty welds are for showing off lol but yesterday was the first time in mud with my k20 after I built it that big block was screaming 8000 rpms 4 wheels pulling lol
Next video - how to secure gear.... you're doing it right in there. I can't count the number of times where people weren't injured in the roll but got beaned by gear or didn't have padding and knocked themselves out. The video after that should be first aid kits. If you need a list, ask.
Airline or L-Track and attachments. I've lined my bed with it and lock stuff down good when on the trail. Look on Amazon or uscargocontrol.com. good luck!
i wanted to add a 3rd row in my k5. my uncle said, if i add seats behind the rear wheels, if i hit a bump my kids will be shot into the ceiling of the shell. any suggestions, my family is 6 total..
You are a natural!

Completely agree. And after finding some cool new mirrors that work with the other configuration I am gonna be flipping it.
Love the video, and I'm excited for more! Would love to see your take on a mall crawler! o.0

Audio would be better if the music was softer during the talking in the beginning. Great video otherwise.
Do they have just the "B"& "C" Pilers in a kit only?
Don't really want to do "A" with all the dash mods>
Thanks,
Call DIY4X the guy is super helpful and can prolly make you what you want

wowsplat suburban
Nathan Brown suburban? im sorry, my questions was, if adding the 3rd row can be done in a safe manner. we already own a suburban, our k5 is for fun
How about vehicle builds similar to yours. There's a lot of those great older vehicles- Blazers, bronco's, Suburban's and International.
What brand is your front bumper? And it's it pretty strong or did you build it?
not bad job on your welds .
Is that mold I saw on the inside of the soft top?
What drone did you get?
Awesome channel! Can you revisit your portable power system with the solar panels?
