    I just bought an old Yamaha rx-v2090 stereo receiver and hoping to get the Ifi so that I could listen to my Pandora stations once in a while from my iPhone to my old Yamaha ( from watching some of your other videos, I am learning that this is a possibility now with old stereo receivers).
    But I don't own speakers because I live in an apt building, so I use a decent pair of Audio Technica headphones instead...
    Will this Ifi Blue provide not only Bluetooth capabilities on my old receiver, but good quality, clear sound on my AT headphones, even if my Yamaha was built prior to the Bluetooth era?
    Your advice will be deeply appreciated, thank you. 👍

      I assume your using wired headphones and listening through your new Yami. If that is the case, the iFi Zen will sound killer going through that receiver. I find that I have to adjust my tone controls when using the unit or it will be a little bass heavy, but not sure why. Any suggestions? Would the Zen blue be any better with this issue? I would try the BT receiver first (My fave is the Zen) then see how you like the sound. IMHO you notice the DAC a bit more when using headphones. But when using a stereo system, the DAC is not really a game changer. I don't usually use my outboard DAC.

    I have tested both the BluDento and AudioEngine devices, (just ordered the iFI rig tonight to test). I can say that they are both great sounding units and you cannot go wrong with either. However, I have returned both of them because of the following reason: They both will play a loud pop through my system at random times. The bludento didn't do it as much but it still did it which is very annoying and scary lol. I found that the bludento bluetooth signal is not as strong as the audio engine's (it was dropping within 10 feet sometimes). I have high hopes for the iFI!

    • @breakerbroke23
      @breakerbroke23  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you have a static buildup or some sort of interference. The NAD may have an issue as well. 3rd time may be a charm. I have had all of these units on many different receivers and a few pre-amps and have never had a pop issue. You may also be getting some line interference. Did you try different RCAs, take your system to another room, turn off your wifi. (The last NAD THX amp I had was problematic, I sold it BTW... ) There are many things that could be giving you problems, I had a old doorbell transformer in my attic giving my electronics fits back many years ago. If the ifi gives you any problems then you need to start troubleshooting IMO.
      Good luck and keep us posted. Cheers

    • @hunterr9176
      @hunterr9176 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@breakerbroke23 thanks for the reply! I know my issue is not common at all, no reviews have stated the problem I have had. I have tried multiple receivers (a couple of Sony's and the NAD), I've tried 3 sets of Rcas, 2 different audioengine units and still no dice. Plus when I use my receiver and speakers with a hard wired connection I do not get the issue. So I know it's the Bluetooth unit. You are probably right, there is some sort of interference going on causing the problem. Again, the bludento didn't pop as frequently or as loudly as the audioengine. So hopefully the iFi build quality will demolish those two and fix my problems lol.

    I’m contemplating purchasing the Ifi Zen Blue V2 Bluetooth DAC to use in my hifi set up. I have a Marantz Melody X. M-CR612 which has Bluetooth functionality built in but I’m supposing (hoping?) that this will give better overall performance.

      I looked at your Marantz, IMO the Bluetooth section was not important in the design of your receiver, so yes I think the ZEN would be an improvement over the OEM BT.
      Also the OEM BT is 3.0.( a bit behind the times) I wanted the Marantz to be at least on par with the Zen, but no. Again IMHO. Coming from a MARANTZ guy:)

      These units do sound better. That being said the HK is no slouch! It serves as a low cost, good sounding, high quality device. Just like ALL electronics, back a few years ago the HK was a top unit, but with newer technology the HK is now sort of outdated, however some people don't want to spend $100-200+ for the convenience of Bluetooth. The HK has been a proven performer and will last many years. IMO.
