Very nice review. I think the bonus of this item as compared to competitive products is that it has both BlueTooth transmit and receiver options. I use BT wireless headphones so that is one of the main reasons I selected this item. I also am planning on using it as a DAC to work with my legacy Onkyo 8190 integrated amplifier which is all analog

For those who want to get this device. Im using it in TOSLINK IN and BT OUT mode. Volume knob allows to change vomule totaly independently on the volume you can control via headphones therfore its posible to lower volume much lover or boots volume much higher then with other devices of this kind. I had 3 devices of this kind before and all of them featured volume control but it was the same volume that headphone controlerd. Same scale. Its great feature !

There is a bunch of this bluetooth RX/TX devices for cheaper prices, but looks like this one have the most complete feature set, and the first with LDAC codec that I found. Have you checked if the transmission functionality supports Apx Low Lattency ? On the app codec list, I didn't saw that codec for selection.

as far as I remember, there is no aptX LL

In transmit mode it does support aptX-LL, but only for a single device.

Do you think it would work to make a connection from a laptop with 3.5mm output to the BTA30 for Bluetooth LDAC, using a 3.5mm to RCA converter + analog to digital converter for a coaxial output to the BTA30?

    • @PortaFi
      @PortaFi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

probably it will, as you'll feed it with the digital signal via coaxial. but it looks a bit of complicated setup :)

Why would you do this? My BTA30 Pro takes the USB C input from my PC for BOTH power and signal (in TX mode). I pair the BTA30 Pro to my BTR5K, to capture LDAC with my IEM's.

@@jb678901 Hi, I am trying to do the same without results. I'm trying to listen to a wireless headphone, and I'm not sure if they are paired (headphones and Fiio ) or thereis no audio signal . Win 11 tell me once that the software must be update , I search on Fiio site and I find nothing that work . So please show me a way to get out from this inconvenience . Thank you !

@@rapaneugen1427 First, plug the device into the PC USB port and check to see if the driver is installed by going to the Device Manager (right click mouse over the lower left WINDOWS icon on task bar). Driver should state "FiiO portable Hi-Res Music Player Series". To pair...1) Power on with the furthest left button on the BTA30Pro front panel. For indicator lights on the top of the device, wait 10-20 seconds for the flashing blue indicator furthest right AND the steady white indicator light at its furthest left position. You can cycle the output with the power button...and the white top indicator will move sequentially right. Make sure it is the top white light furthest to the left (sometimes I have pressed the power button and the top white light position moved to the right without my noticing...and I then mistakenly reinstalled the driver. Avoid this mistake).
Now, and after the ~10-20 second warmup, press and hold the power button for a 3-5 seconds and until the blue flashing light turns red/blue flashing light. This is the pairing mode. Your device must also be ready to pair. It should automatically detect at that point. The flashing red/blue indicator light will then turn color (white, yellow, green, magenta, or blue) depending on the CODEC supported by the device. When paired you should see three lights. One on the front panel for the power and two on the top panel. Make sure to turn up the gain with the volume control knob, appropriately.

My BTA30 won't properly connect to my windows 10 pc as an audio device, does anyone know how to fix that problem? It only shows up as "audio, video and gamecontroller" and you can't use it as audio output...

    • @PortaFi

Probably you need to install drivers, but as I didn't use Windows for more than 10 years, I can't tell anything useful here
Did you try contacting FiiO support?

You can use a USB to SPDIF device as
work around. I use a little usb DAC (search for "aliexpress cm6631a" on google) to add optical and coaxial outputs to my computer.

Helllo, Im looking for way to reduce audio volume. Does anyone know if this device is capable of it? My setup is this: Playstation 1 (modded with HDMI output) - HDMI Audio segregator (Vention) - TOSLINK to EVOLVEO AudioConverter XS with Bluetooth 5 to bluetooth headphones. My problem is that even the lowest volume is too loud. Some headphones do have trouble to even adjust the volume. Volume controls on EVOLVEO AudioConverter XS doesnt help in this. FiiO BTA30 caught my eye becouse of its volume knob. I want to reduce the volume by a lots. I tried to reduce the volume in some games and I can go to 1/5th and then I feel its right. What do you think, can this device help me to reduce the volume?

I think it's better to ask that on head-fi in the owners thread
