I think another irony of Hector is that he said something like: "vampires are like cats and they play with their food" "there's joy in it" to which Issac replied "not for the food" and then in this episode Hector got to find out what the food feels like....
That last scene always gets me. His mom was arrested, then executed. His dad went crazy and declared war and genocide against the human race. Alucard tries to stop him and gets his ass kicked hard. He went in a healing coma. Woken up by a monster hunter and a sorceress, and he has to be constantly on guard because they might kill him. Then they have to do non-stop research on the castle in a place he describes as "a museum dedicated to extermination of my people." Then he kills his father. Finally he sat down in the same chair Dracula used to brood on for the entire season. That was the probably the first time he had in a year since this all started to stop, think, process, and grieve. Its a miracle he hasn't gone crazy yet.
Alucard deserves happiness. He never even got a chance to grieve his mom because he was trying to keep his dad from committing mass murder. Goes into a coma, again can't grieve or anything. Then the last image of his dad is him trying to hug him while a stake gets driven into his heart. Like Alucard needs a damn therapist, and a hug. The only two people he did have, now have each other and have left him. :(
I love that Suraj is already seeing the irony with Hector and pets. So happy you guys are enjoying this so much, and really looing forward to the next 2 seasons!
I love how the start of this episode they were all like Carmilla isn't going to be bad she got everything she wanted. Once they see Carmilla treats Hector be brutally reminded Carmilla wanting to replace Dracula actually means, enslaving others, murdering them, and conquering. That she is not a good person lol.
The only reason they felt that way is because she was a “strong independent woman” character. A lot of girls tend to forgive terrible actions from characters if they are “boss babing”. 😂 it was only until after the show shoved it in their face they accepted it.

However, the moment Dracula started his war against humanity, Hector left him without hesitation. He went into hiding, fell in love and got married, only for his wife to be trialled and killed as a witch because of Isaac, who wanted revenge for his “betrayal” of Dracula. His story from then is essentially him going on a warpath to kill Isaac, and he was even able to hold his own against Trevor and Dracula. This Hector, while a good character… isn’t exactly faithful to that original image.

In the game, Hector left Dracula on his own (as I mentioned in an earlier episode) and settled down with a woman named Rosaly. Isaac, on the other hand, was driven completely insane over Dracula's death and sought revenge against Hector for leaving; as he felt Hector's desertion played a part in Dracula's defeat.

So the season ends with the dust settling, success all came at a price; for Hector his betrayal has led him to a more cruel form of servitude, Isaac's survival has led to bitterness given new direction, Trevor and Sypha trail off to places unknown but without direction (but on the plus side a very cosy close-quarters caravan) and then there's Alucard, he succeeded in his job but with his friends leaving he's truly alone Season 3 is, it's not bad, there's some great action and dialogue, but there are some frustrating plotlines too
Hector didn’t betray Dracula. Dracula betrayed Hector. He told Hector he was going to control humanity to protect them from there selves because Hector didn’t want genocide. Once his eyes were opened that Dracula lied to him, he moved to the other side. He was Manipulated twice and is naive, but his actions do make sense.
Not to mention Carmilla never actually lied, and it was his job to work with her. Objectively, Dracula’s strategy didn’t make sense based on what he told Hector. I personally think Hector was the only one who wanted to actually save Dracula, even from himself.

I'm not sure what was going on with Carmilla in this episode. Throughout the season, she showed herself to be clever and calculating. But her actions towards Hector were just stupidly shortsighted. At first, I thought that she was just angry at her plans falling apart and impulsively took it out on Hector and would regain her senses by next season. But as season 3 (Spoilers Normies: Don't Read) and season 4 shows, she remains shortsighted.

I guess they will never stop to think in only good or bad and nothing in between. It was shown multiple times that no side it purely good or purely evil and yet they dislike Hector so much because he betrayed Dracula who wanted all humans to die(he is a human, so...). It is really infuriating.
This was the episode that made me really dislike carmilla

It's such a shame carmilla was such a mental case. She could have easily kept up the facade- that dynamic she had with Hector, fake or not, was working for her. Making him more receptive to her & her BS.

As for the meat thing. Your thinking of the problem of some meat being too lean. We need fat and some animals have almost none. Rabbit meat is a good example of this. You get whats called "protien poisoning" cause you can't live off protein alone .

I forgot how horrible Hector was treated during seasons 2 and 3, but at least he gets his spotlight during season 4.
I absolutely love this show. Besides Dragon Ball this is my favorite anime of all time. But as a fan of the games I hate what they did to Hector on every single season. Such a waste. This guy is a legend in the games and here he's just a stupid slave for the vampires to kick. Meanwhile Isaac who is a villain get this whole big ass redemption character development self improvement arc.
I'm not sure what was going on with Carmilla in this episode. Throughout the season, she showed herself to be clever and calculating. But her actions towards Hector were just stupidly shortsighted. At first, I thought that she was just angry at her plans falling apart and impulsively took it out on Hector and would regain her senses by next season. But as season 3 (Spoilers Normies: Don't Read) and season 4 shows, she remains shortsighted.

I really think the story should have ended right here at the end of season 2. Although I liked a couple things from season 3 & 4, it would have let a lot more possibilities to introduce other Belmonts faster. (I know Richter is getting his screen time in the future.)
