King Onew... One of the best vocalists in KPOP... pay attention as you move through Shinee... He is the foundation stone for the group. Always been my Shinee bias... ❤
I think I feel similarly to Simon. It feels like a song about getting up again and telling himself he won't go fall back into that dark pit again, because to survive is to win.
Yeah, this view has only strengthened for me on subsequent listens... but this is one of the great things about creative arts... all honest interpretations are valid
Emotionally charged is a really great way to describe Onew's singing. His live performance of December 32nd was literally tear inducing. There are a lot of singers that go into just screaming when increasing intensity, but Onew just brings stable power instead. And I'm with Simon on his read of this being less a triumphant celebration and more of an ode to resilience and honoring negative emotions and history while pushing onwards. I also read Someone Like You as a heartbroken girl trying to convince herself everything will be fine, but still freshly hurt and not actually at that stage of acceptance yet.
I know it's still early, but I think Onew's "Winner" may become one of my favorites of 2025. I love the message within the lyrics. We need more positive messages in the world today. People need to know that no matter how bad things might seem at the moment, if they fight through it and don't let other people and outside forces take control, they too can be the winner in the end and can ultimately triumph over all those negative forces and people who are only looking to make themselves feel better by pushing you down. And Onew's powerful vocals are a perfect match for the message and vibe of the song as well. I couldn't imagine a better artist to sing a song like this than our eternal sunshine Lee JinKi. He perfectly understands what it's like to go through hard times and be able to find your way out on the other side and continue to be the winner of your life. Which I think makes this song feel that much more genuine and like he is speaking his own truth, not just singing a good song. Of course, Onew is an amazing singer and performer. That's why the members of SHINee are some of the most well-respected singers and artists, and why they are one of the top groups in the industry. SHINee are the golden standard. It's literally known as the SHINee standard, and it's what all other groups strive to reach. SHINee are such an elite group of performers that they are recognized for the fact that there are no longer any fixed roles in their group. The main vocalists can rap, the rappers can fill in as main vocalists and they're all impressive dancers. Onew is considered one of the premiere vocalists in the industry, who is known for being the male vocalist with the most consistent voice for the past 16+ years. He is one of the vocalists that vocal coaches use as an example of what people should try to emulate in order to become a great singer. He has been recognized as one of the top vocalists in Kpop since even before debut. I guess you could call him a prodigy because he was only one of two people ever personally cast by Lee SooMan, and he was chosen at age 16/17 for his outstanding vocal ability. Onew's vocal technique is so good that even as a rookie -- he debuted when he was just 18 years old -- he was a vocal coach and mentor to a lot of trainees. Although his Connection album, which "Winner" is on, is his 4th EP album, he actually has 6 solo albums all together, including Japanese albums, as well as dozens of singles. And you have only just scratched the surface of SHINee's music, so if you like "Winner," you really need to start diving more into SHINee and Onew's solo content to really see what makes him such an outstanding artist and person.
With an overload of tasks to complete on time, this song gives me a lot of energy to make the impossible work possible. And all the parts that say "who is the winner" and "who else but me can be the winner" I'll scream 'I'M THE WINNER" "IT'S ME!" It really helps to keep me positive.
OMG I really like the way you tell this song.💙"It's about the traces we have traveled, the way we came, not the victory itself..."This is the same as that expressed by onew when he introduced the initial creation of this song, but I don't think this is the most important thing. Perhaps more importantly, I am very happy to see that you like this story. Thanks for watching it with us ~
Thank you for this reaction! Onew is my favorite vocalist. I still remember the first time I heard his voice: started to play his debut album VOICE, first track the title track BLUE. And I was just.....blown away by the power of his voice, by the way he can portray emotions through his voice and I knew from that moment on that he would be forever my most favorite vocalist. It was literally love at first listen. If you have not reacted to BLUE yet, I highly recommend it: th-cam.com/video/6150sLpksHU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=zd4hQnf05FznZdnq His whole discography if flawless. From VOICE to his japanese release Life Goes On & Who Sings to DICE and CIRCLE and FLOW and now CONNECTION.
On Someone Like You - that interpretation does make sense. It could be her lying to herself or just comforting herself. She does sound sad for a song that is supposed to be a triumphant one.
Onew to najlepszy wokalista k-pop. Kocham jego wrażliwość. Jestem z niego taka dumna 🥺💜 Proszę zrób reakcję na piosenkę y si fuera ella. Śpiewa ją Jonghyun z SHINee. 🥺 Tak bardzo za nim tęsknię 😭

Oh, you should absolutely react to Circle - both the song and the album! Absolute masterpiece!

NEVER BEEN SO EARLY
I was sad this wasnt on chaos lmao but YAY
He was my bias before I know EXO.😂
I love his voice so much and his sweet smile❤.
You should definitely check out the pre-release 만세 (Yay) as well, it is more of the whimsical side of Onew again ~ (although the whole EP is amazing)

Exactly!! I understand it's a minority view, but I think it's justified
