What I love about Onew is that he is a very 'clean' vocalist. And I think that's what makes him so unique in Kpop. He doesn't need all the bells and whistles; no need for vocal gymnastics; he isn't vocally stylistic but relies on straightforwardness when he sings. It's the kind of style that can open him to a lot of mistakes but given how technically good he is, it's a non-issue for him. We really need to bring back SINGERS in Kpop!

14:12 I took a 6 hour plane ride to see SHINee at SM Town in 2011 and I cried when I got to hear Onew sing Opera. During that time I was a freshman in college majoring in vocal performance aka becoming an Opera singer so it was such a special moment I hold dear in my heart.

a singular VOCALIST. there is no one in the industry who sounds like him, or who uses his technical advantage in quite the same way. there are a lot of great singers, nearly flawless vocalists even (yang yoseob, seo eunkwang, chen, jo jinho) but none of them deliver quite the same. jinki has a way of opening himself up to error because he has an unshakable faith in his skill and his voice, and doesn't mind taking it anywhere. what a gift to have a voice like this. what a gift it is to listen to him, how liberated he sounds, how pure in essence. my, how lucky we are!
Why is it only half an hour? This should be 5 hours long, I'm willing to get my popcorn ready. Didn't know that they would be so good. They have such great chemistry, and a perfect combination too. The harmony Onew oppa did during the duet song is so good that I'm literally melting.
His singing is obviously incredible, but what I loved most about this whole video is just how genuinely HAPPY Onew was. 🥹 Back when I was first getting into Kpop & SHINee in 2010, Onew was my original SHINee bias because he was just a happy, smiley, ray-of-sunshine boy. (Then I realized sticking to just one SHINee bias is impossible; I have 5 SHINee biases now.) Although I missed him dearly, I'm so glad he let the others do the promotions for HARD to take care of his health, and that he left SM for his solo work to really challenge himself. I was honestly worried after Jonghyun left us that Onew might never smile again, so seeing him happy & fulfilled now makes me a very proud & happy Shawol. 🥰💎 Time to go put on my SHINee playlist again...

진짜 온유 개큰강점은 노래부를 때 표정임. 전에 싱크로유 보니까 뒤에서 부를 땐 거의 무표정에 눈썹만 움직이던데 그렇다는건 저렇게 살짝씩 웃으면서 노래부르는게.. 신경써서 나온다는 건데 대단한 입덕필살기임. 제가 온유하게 해요 양동마을 라이브 클립으로 정말 입덕 땅땅 박은 사람입니다.

갈수록 농익음. 예전엔 목소리가 마냥 청량하다, 좋다 깔끔하다 생각했는데 어느샌가부터 짙은 애절함과 분위기가 장착됌,, 목소리라는 재능과 노력하는 성실함이 지금의 온유를 만든 것 같음👏 앞으로도 계속 온유만의 목소리로 노래 많이 불러주면 좋겠어
