Loot Island was one of those fundamental sets I had growing up. The kind that feels like a core memory to your collection, stories, and life as it was. Sad to see it so low, but I understand the placement.
I don’t know why you are referring to the 2009 sets as the “OGs” or originals” but the 1989-1997 waves came first and were much, much better in terms of builds, story, characters, and overall displayability of the sets.
Apologies, I meant it as the 2009 being the original to the 2015 line since they have very similar sets and named sets. I agree 90s pirates was a whole better beast.
@@FitBricks There was a 12 year gap between the end of Pirates I and the launch of Pirates II, but only 6 years between II and III, so it makes sense that III was heavily inspired by II as they are much closer in release and using more modern pieces for that time.
6242 is a solid F'n set as far as I can tell. Back in 2009 AFOLs were shіttіng all over it for not being as grand of a landbase as the Eldorado Fortress or Imperial Trading Post, but the fact of the matter is it was never meant to be such type of a build. It's much closer to Lagoon Lock-Up or Imperial Outpost in its style & purpose, all while surpassing the aforementioned ones in play features, accessories & minifig selection by a damn good mile (and I'd even say design wise too). So yeah, I completely agree with your take on 2009 Soldier's Fort being the best set in the modern Pirates era 🤝🏻

imperial flagship is peak lego, its just way ahead of its time
2:38 that's a sextant. It helps you determine latitude using the stars (or the sun). It was designed by Sir Isaac Newton.
I had so many 2009 pirates sets, they were great
The thing on the right in the captains quaters is a sexton which is used to determine the longitude and latitude
You are talking about the two trans orange pieces on the right not the telescope instrument?
@@FitBricks I'd say those are simply meant to represent the lanterns 😁
no I am talking about the little telescope thing@@FitBricks
Great video! 2009>2015!
Glad you enjoyed it
I just recently did a video on the history of LEGO pirates and yea… the og pirates (1989 - 1997 were so much better. Great video!
Yes! My pirates collection mainly consists of the classic pirates sets as they are levels above the II and III versions of the theme

I have the two pirate builds from 2015 as well as the chess set, always wish I had gotten the soldiers builds as well, and of course the brick bounty.
Why didint you include imperial flagship in ranking video?
It’s not a mainline set like how the new icons sets aren’t . I would of put it as number 1 anyway
@@FitBricks It would end up as #1 ranking the IInd and IIIrd iterations of Pirates, but ranking all the sets, I put it at third
this is sleeping on the 2015 builds are designed to be linked up directly

One day I will get this set as its my plan to review sometime this year
I like ur vids they’re very nostalgic cus I cudnt afford half these sets when I was younger
Still can’t now lol
(Damn Lego investors >.>)
I feel the same way. Still can’t afford them
I hope for a new Imperials/Royals ship to match with the Eldorado fortress and to counter the 3in1 pirate ship
Sorry, but Brickbeard's Bounty sux, comparing to any of 1989-1997 ship or even to creator 3in1 pirate ship.
it would be nice to have a Pirate themed buildings at shore biome of Lego Fortnite
