Great video and some amazing footage. You've definitely put a lot of effort into getting those shots in extremely testing weather! How much extra time do you spend having to set the camera up and then riding back into the shot? Some of the long shots of you riding along must have taken quite a while.
With some shots, the camera is rolling for about five minutes. Including framing the shot and getting the settings on the camera right, it generally takes somewhere between 5-15 minutes each time I stop! 👍

I'm riding around Canberra's nature trails in Australia, maintaining fitness and learning more about navigating with a GPS. I truly hope that you can get out on the trails soon, Letsif.

I just binged your Americas playlist. Superb work! I'm so glad that you included footage of all of the birds, lizards, snakes, spiders, butterflies and plants that you encountered along the way. You seem to have the right temperament for challenging conditions. Some of the tracks you traversed would have resulted in tears or tantrums if I'd attempted to ride them. Keep up the excellent work.

I ran a 15km road race a few years ago around Lake Wendouree in Ballarat. It was so windy that I couldn't run without kicking myself at every step, but that head wind was another level of insane. Thanks for the video.
So crazy to see the Torres and Fitzroy so accessible. I backpacked and climbed there in '78 '79. No roads. El Chalten was a little one room hut with a gaucho overseeing the ranch in that area. Sold climbers whiskey, cigarettes, and polenta. Sheared sheep for a week looking up at the Torres. Wow! Enjoying the views. Really nice bike. Anxious now to see the rest of the trip. Cheers!

when you took all the gear off and went for a ride to the Glacier, took me straight back to (back then) Calcutta after riding a few months, it makes you feel like you can ride through walls ;) P.s. i pushed for probably 10% of Spain to Portugal myself and it serves me right for knowing nothing at the time about Gulf Streams. wow that brings lots of memories. The bust shulter must be the ones between the junktion of Toris Del Paine and Portu Natale. I passed through that valley but was early enough to make it to Portu Natale or else this would have been a great place to camp even if it is just a meter away from the road

Your guess is correct! 😵 I was very lucky with the ferry. When I arrived there was a boat leaving for Villa O'Higgens. My name was way down the list for the boat the next day - I was 99% sure I wouldn't get on. But I packed my things anyway and went down to the dock. There was one seat left on the boat, but three couples ahead of me... so I walked on in disbelief. 😊

Just the shear magnitude of it all. Seems to be a huge trade off. Solo touring with multiple camera angles, or campanion touring with awkward moments daily. Tolerance and patients would define a companion.

All you need to know: - Patagonia is better north-south| - Peru coastal route is better south-north - The wind blows up from the Pacific coast into the Andes, so crossing passes east-west is normally headwind. - The mountains of Bolivia and Peru are pretty much wind free!

If you want to do it in one trip with good winds, you'd fly into somewhere like Bariloche, Puerto Montt, El Calafate and ride south to Ushuaia. You'd then fly from Ushuaia back to where you started and continue north! Alternatively, you'd ride south, but keep to the mountains through Ecuador-Peru-Bolivia. Check out www.windy.com/ for the same wind data, but much more usability.

I wanted to start at the end of the year (and Alaska is too bloody cold then). Regarding winds, it's pretty mixed all the way along the Americas. The record from Alaska-Argentina was recently broken by Jonas Deichmann and he reckons he had more headwinds than tailwinds!
I read that if you're over a certain age they will only let you in Torres Park for no longer than a day? Did you ever hear that? Maybe that's only with backpacking and not bike touring. I'm 66 and hope to go through there on a bike.

You could use a drone for filming yourself. You wouldn't need to cycle back.
I don't mind riding back. 😀 I've done some stuff with drones before, and they definitely take more time to set up!

Some sections are almost always that windy, but generally, the wind gets stronger throughout the day.
