Thank you for your comment. Yes, it is a very difficult process, but it isn't impossible. If you have been turned down by Social Security, you can reapply. If you are applying for the second (or third time), or if you want to have the best chance of approval the first time, we recommend seeking help from an attorney who can represent your best interests. We wish you the best of luck in your application process.

fairymairah Great questions, but unfortunately, I think your questions are more of a political nature- with regard to how the Social Security funds are administered and how the program rules are implemented. Our role as advocates means that we represent clients within the rules as our government creates them. Concerns such as these should probably best be directed to your state and federal elected officials.

See the VE Will come in and tell the judge you can pour coffee are make coffee at starbucks, then you get a no. why it is hard to win

My daughter finally had her hearing and when the judge questioned the VE, the VE kept saying she couldn't do any jobs, in so many words. Every time the VE spoke, the judge got irritated with her and now there's going to be another hearing with another VE and it sounds like my daughter won't have to attend, but her attorney is going to make a list to submit to the judge. Is this normal and won't the second VE feel more obligated to disagree with the first? Will my daughter be able to hear the hearing or get a transcript of? Very odd situation.

The situation you are describing is quite atypical, so I am afraid that the situation may involve more facts and circumstances than can easily be explained in a posting. I would recommend that your daughter contact her lawyer and have a meeting or phone conference in order to prepare for the hearing. In addition, I would urge strong consideration that both your daughter and her lawyer re-appear in the subsequent hearing, so that they are present for anything and everything that occurs on the record.

From what I learned, it looks like it'll be written interragatories where it's questions from the judge and her attorney directed to the 2nd VE, so she said she won't be able to attend since it's not an actual hearing. First time her attorney has had this happen... Informative video's! Thank you!

I have all three back issues, on the list. I was a CNA the past 15 years, and have no none transferable job skills, and am 61. I fit the grid rules, for social security, and still, I was denied!

To Vicky Paulson Oh no I am 51 with back issues and have just applied on November 9 2017 I haven't even gotten my first letter yet but after hearing your experience I am extremely nervous because these videos about the grid rules and having no transferable job skills and being over 50 makes it almost sound like you have a slam dunk case but as it seems that couldn't be further from the truth. Which supports what I first believed which is that you have to be almost at death's door to received disability period
