He voiced the exact same ideals as Luffy himself, but both Luffy and Zoro treated him coldly. I think Luffy finally saw an actual rival for the throne in Blackbeard in their first meeting.

I feel like Luffy being able to hear the voice of all things could somehow feel the secret behind Teach abnormal body(that famous « it’s not he it’s them » line wich created the theory that BB is actually three brothers in one body)
