Ok, so, I just wanted to say that, I too struggle with proportions at this time, and its good to know that an amazing artist that I look up to so much also did at one point, which spells hope for my poor characters. I also love your art so much, you inspire me.

I love that all four redraws are done a bit differently (lines, coloring), really shows you can do art with any supplies.

Redrawing old art is really fun to do ngl. There's just so much improvement in all those years. It's so interesting because most of my characters are just some of old random character designs turned into almost developed characters!
I really want to make a comic about them but I've got a long way to go.

I think my favorite of this video is the mermaid! I love how you do lineart, the level of detail is super impressive.
man, these "Redrawing Old Art" videos are always such a treat. they feel a bit more relaxed and low-energy (probably because the music for all 3 of these has been very chill so far), just 20 minutes of speed-draw with commentary, it's truly a delight to watch. that Kiki drawing is an instant favourite - it's just so cute! Kiki in general is just a load of free serotonin, but the way you draw her is just that times two, I really adore your art style
Every time Oliver said “there’s a lot more CHARACTER” all I could think is “there’s a lot more character and the character has its own characteristics. CharacTer”

I think you should make a series where you find characters that don’t have the best design and just make them, they don’t have to be yours just find a character. But again it’s up to you just thought it would be cool even tho you kinda did that here I just rlly enjoy these types of videos

That seems like a good idea but it just feels like.. if he took someone’s design and said it wasn’t good and tried to fix it it implies the first artist wasn’t good and that he’s “better” and I dunno I don’t really like when people fix other people’s art, they should just give them criticism and help them , I mean if people sent in summations it would be fine but in general ehhhh
I didn’t rlly look at it that way but yah I bet ppl would prob feel that way I just thought, hey I rlly like when he revamps old drawings and so I tried to think of another way to get that

Also, I think it's Pentel, has a line of pens, called Frixion pens. I'm not sure if they have ballpoint pens, but they have gel pens and fineliners
So, if you wand an Erasable pen, maybe try a Frixion pen?
I have them in a variety of colors, they're awesome! They also have erasable highlighters which is crazy???

I've had it for years now, so I don't remember. The brand is 'case it' so I'm sure you can fine one (or something similar) online!

How do you keep the layers from streaking? I have those same markers but they always layer over if I try to color over a certain area again 😖
I think it depends on the paper I heard cardstock is good and depending on what kind of marker you have crescent render can be good aswell
