Rush Hour Trains at: Tring, WCML, 04/09/2020

- A very enjoyable evening spent at Tring station on the West Coast Mainline where we see countless services from London Northwestern Railway, Avanti West Coast, Southern and freight from Royal Mail, Freightliner, DB Cargo UK and GBRF.
This film was supposed to be from a footbridge that I had found just north of Berkhamsted but unfortunately the views weren't really good enough to get a clear view of the line heading north so I went with the next best option.
Tring station was opened by the London and Birmingham Railway in 1837 when the company extended its line from London Boxmoor to Tring. The station gained some fame when Queen Victoria and Prince Albert took the royal train north of London and had to call at Tring in order for the train to take on water. This in turn brought out crowds of locals to see the royals and the train. Because of the level of interest that the train brought Queen Victoria asked to have the train run at a reduced speed for the remainder of the journey.
The acquisition of the land wasn't easy however as the owners of the Harcourt Estate wanted an enormous sum of money for the L&BR to build a station at Tring. However because of the town's folk were so enthusiastic about getting a train station they actually managed to raise the funds which allowed for the station to be built by bridging the gap between what the estate wanted and what the railway company were prepared to pay.
The station has recently gone under a redevelopment with a new footbridge and platforms to give the station a new lease of life as well as giving the car park a quick going over.
My next station will be Berkhamsted.

I remember going to Tring Station many years ago. The platform nearest the Multi Storey Car Park used to have an enclosed waiting room, with a vending machine that sold a really cheap, but nice, veggie soup!
I have to say I never really brought anything from the Vending machines during my previous visits here

If memory serves, I think 126 has some damage still showing from the landslip that happened in North Watford tunnels 4 years ago

Tring looks like a nice place to film especially with those LNR terminations.
It's a great station to go to, one that I highly recommend
390 119 looks so good especially passing at speed. I do I a car train because my dad could have worked on those cars and vans :P

I know I’m early but 1:27 the middle unit of the Milton Keynes train is 350103 not 138, that would actually be 238

Avanti are putting their 390s in their livery individually to still keep enough capacity for distancing
