A really good review for the Singi 48. I wasn't thinking about it but it wanted a backpack bigger than 35 but not so big as the 60+. I'm glad you mentioned your wife can use it. Sounds like a very versatile backpack. Thanks for sharing it. Love to see what you put inside your side pockets.

It must be quite - don't know the exact word - strange/difficult to be in the US with a lot of things that are going on. In The Netherlands it is a strange situation too. Shops closed, no bars or restaurants to go to and outdoor life pretty limited. We had snow in the Southern part of our country and everybody went there. Not wise in these times. @@onnonugteren2935This wood does not break easy at all. And if you manage to break it... repairing wood is more easy than metal and you can always use a stick as quick fix.
Awesome video, really liked it 👍 I would be interested to know if you tried the Kajka 65 and what your opinion is on it. I have a hard time deciding between them, because I own the Singi 28 + 2 Sidepockets and it would be just convenient buying the Singi 48 for multi-day treks.. Buut I miss some features, like the zipper opening up the front, top pocket is attachable to the front, the bottom pocket is seperated and its just a little bigger.
it's a beautiful backpack. i got mine 2 months ago and i love it. i wish there was a divider for the bottom section but i can live without it easily :) nice review btw

brilliant review! one thing i cant agree is the place of the chain key. i dont think any thief would be interested with keys. so it would be safe to sit in the outside pocket with a chain to prevent losing it by accident.
I have the Fjallraven abisko 35 and it's the best and most comfortable pack I've ever owned, very good quality, I can vanish into the highlands for a week and it carries everything I need to survive, highly recommend their packs.

There's one thing I don't like about the Singi. My 30 years old Salewa backpack also has a zipper at the bottom. But Salewa attached two adjustable straps with buckles outside to relieve the zipper. The entire weight of the load in the Singi only rests on the zipper. It may hold up. But what if not? I still prefer a backup solution if there is a zipper at the bottom of a backback.
Hi TJ, jep I do understand but and it might happen in due time but I didn’t experience this. Also the zipper is big and on some other duffels en packs I didn’t experience this also. I will try to figure out what YKK rating it has.

I almost bought this pack, but some huge negatives for me were the lack of front loading double-zipped opening (like on the Kajka), the lack of seperate zippered compartment in the bottom section, the non-adjustable width adjustment of shoulder straps (as in Kajka), and the horrible bright light blue rain cover (which completely defeats the object of stealth green or stone gray colours of the backpack! I definitely don't want to be wearing a huge blue flag on my back while walking through wild regions in the rain). By the way, I'm very glad that Fjallraven don't place permanent bright reflectors on their backpacks...I absolutely hate them! Maybe if you're riding a bike on a busy road but definitely not on a 'stealth hunting' based backpack. I like to blend in to nature, especially when I'm photographing wildlife or trekking/camping in the forests or mountains. For people who want to look like a neon sign if they spend a lot of time walking along busy roads in the dead of night and afraid of being hit by the late-night bus....then they can very easily place a sticker on the pack itself or wear a head torch.
Thanks for the review. There are not many on TH-cam. The backpack seems to be great. But the stick attachment is really stupid. And I think it's a shame that there are no straps that can be used to attach something (e.g. a sleeping pad) under the backpack. I am not completely convinced yet. What would be your alternative recommendation?
Hendrik, I don’t like a mattress under the bag since it gives problems if you put it on the ground. Mattress could be stored under the loop at the back too. And it is easy to ad more straps on the daisy chains. Did you see my Osprey reviews or do you want alternative FR pack? Cheers, Gijs
Yes, there is also an option under the lid. The only thing that bothers me is that you have to fiddle around for a long time before you get to the main compartment. But maybe that's really not a knockout criterion for the backpack. I'll take a look at your other videos. You don't happen to know such a robust alternative in a comparable size and with a little less weight?

Hi Christiano, This is not a totally honest comparison since they are totally different pack in style. The Keb is more clean, the Singi more bushcrafty. I like all the extra loops and pockets on the Singi, the Keb is more a backpack that a lot of brands have. But... they are both rugged. I would pick the 48.... Does this help? Hoi Martin, Dank voor je aardige reactie 🙏. In mijn geval wel, maar ik ben een klein mannetje en ga redelijk efficient moet voedsel om. Daarnaast neem ik weinig extra's mee. Daarnaast is er onder de klep redelijk wat extra ruimte te maken en de extra zijvakken helpen zeker ook. Voor een week naar Sarek... zou een maatje grote handiger zijn, maar in mijn geval betekent dat ook dat ik uitkom op een gewicht dat ongeveer 1/3 is van wat ik weeg. I also bought the 52 and got the 72 for less cost. They basically carry the same as the singi 48 in terms of comfort and all look good. Will use the singi for trekking but the kebs are for when when i get up high in technical stuff and want a cleaner external pack. Well thats my excuse for getting them. Have not told my wife yet!!!! Not brave enough!
Hi Mark, Sorry for the late answer 🙃. I would not do it. It makes the backpack very unpractical if you want to put it down. I would connect a closed cell roll to the left or right and leave one pouch at home. Or but it vertical on the back and use a few straps and the loops on the pack. I hope this works out for you. Excellent review! And there's not so many reviews on Singi 48 out there, so thank you for that one! I own Singi Stubben, and I find it is a wonderful backpack for a day hikes or trips. My biggest concern about Singi 48 is the suspension system, especially concidering warm and summer conditions. Does it provide good airflow? How about sweating? I'm asking, because my next step would be buying around 50l pack, and I'm struggling between Singi 48 (I already have sidepockets from Stubben) and Lundhags Gneik 54. The latter is also fantastic backpack, but the big diffrence is that Gneik 54 has a mesh ventilation system. What do you think? Would Singi 48 be also good during hot summer treks?
Hi DCS, Thanks for sharing your thoughts and the compliment! Sweety? Ventilation? The backpack sits close to the body and around the shoulders and the hip it touches a large surface. In between there is space for air to flow. But with warm weather you will feel sweaty after a while. I don't mind since I wear merino wool as a on skin layer and that works fine for me in regulating moistere and temperature. Does this answer your questions? Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Hi, I have a question about back length. I'm 1m82cm and currently using a Karrimor SF Sabre 45. due to the back length being fixed, i notice the Karrimor hip belt is above my hip and not on my hip (so all the weight is on my spine and not divided over spine and hip). Is the Fjallraven singi 48 "taller" in maximum adjusted back length? how tall are you, and does the hipbelt fit as it should? Thanks!!

Ha Gijs, na het kijken van de video ben ik weer iets wijzer geworden. Twijfel nog tussen de Heb 52 en de Singi 48, maar neig toch naar die tweede (puur de looks eigenlijk). Tof horloge heb je trouwens, we hebben dezelfde ;) Wat anders: hoe zoek jij het avontuur op in Nederland? Zelf ga ik vaak zat de bossen in, maar ik heb moeite met het vinden van plekken waar je bij wijzen van spreken niet met een spijkerbroek en kinderwagen kunt komen. Heb jij nog tips? Laters!
Dag Bob, Dank voor de complimenten. Avontuur in Nederland.... Je wilt een eerlijk antwoord neem ik aan. Nauwelijks helaas. Zeker sinds Covid zijn mensen overal en hebben te veel mensen maling aan fatsoenlijk natuur gedrag. Zakdoekjes die overal liggen... Campings staan vol en wild overnachten mag niet. Beetje depri inderdaad. Natuurlijk zijn er nog mooie plekken waar je lekker kan wandelen en een beetje alleen buitengevoel kan hebben. Het heeft vooral met tijd te maken: 's morgens vroeg op een doordeweekse dag bijvoorbeeld. Waar ik heen ga... deel ik liever niet op social want ik hou het er liever rustig. This pack is waaay too heavy: 2100g / 4.6 lbs. Come on guys, it's 2020! Why would anyone want this when there are alternatives that weigh half as much? I don't get it. No way I'd buy this.

I just attached the two zippers together with a keylock. No more worries of accidental opening. Just clip it off and now you can open it again.

Do you think a standard 1.2l US army canteen would fit into the Gear Holder?

I was able to fit a Pathfinder canteen (1.2l) with lid, nesting cup and stove and there is plenty of room to spare. It also fits in the side pockets.
I almost bought this pack, but some huge negatives for me were the lack of front loading double-zipped opening (like on the Kajka), the lack of seperate zippered compartment in the bottom section, the non-adjustable width adjustment of shoulder straps (as in Kajka), and the horrible bright light blue rain cover (which completely defeats the object of stealth green or stone gray colours of the backpack! I definitely don't want to be wearing a huge blue flag on my back while walking through wild regions in the rain).
By the way, I'm very glad that Fjallraven don't place permanent bright reflectors on their backpacks...I absolutely hate them! Maybe if you're riding a bike on a busy road but definitely not on a 'stealth hunting' based backpack. I like to blend in to nature, especially when I'm photographing wildlife or trekking/camping in the forests or mountains. For people who want to look like a neon sign if they spend a lot of time walking along busy roads in the dead of night and afraid of being hit by the late-night bus....then they can very easily place a sticker on the pack itself or wear a head torch.

Thanks for the review. There are not many on TH-cam. The backpack seems to be great. But the stick attachment is really stupid. And I think it's a shame that there are no straps that can be used to attach something (e.g. a sleeping pad) under the backpack. I am not completely convinced yet. What would be your alternative recommendation?
Hendrik, I don’t like a mattress under the bag since it gives problems if you put it on the ground. Mattress could be stored under the loop at the back too. And it is easy to ad more straps on the daisy chains. Did you see my Osprey reviews or do you want alternative FR pack? Cheers, Gijs
Yes, there is also an option under the lid. The only thing that bothers me is that you have to fiddle around for a long time before you get to the main compartment. But maybe that's really not a knockout criterion for the backpack.
I'll take a look at your other videos. You don't happen to know such a robust alternative in a comparable size and with a little less weight?

Would you choose this over the keb52 or vice versa?
Hi Christiano, This is not a totally honest comparison since they are totally different pack in style. The Keb is more clean, the Singi more bushcrafty. I like all the extra loops and pockets on the Singi, the Keb is more a backpack that a lot of brands have. But... they are both rugged. I would pick the 48.... Does this help? Hoi Martin, Dank voor je aardige reactie 🙏. In mijn geval wel, maar ik ben een klein mannetje en ga redelijk efficient moet voedsel om. Daarnaast neem ik weinig extra's mee. Daarnaast is er onder de klep redelijk wat extra ruimte te maken en de extra zijvakken helpen zeker ook. Voor een week naar Sarek... zou een maatje grote handiger zijn, maar in mijn geval betekent dat ook dat ik uitkom op een gewicht dat ongeveer 1/3 is van wat ik weeg. Daarom vind ik vaak kleiner een mooie manier om het gewicht op 13-15 kg te houden want dat werkt voor mij. Is dit een antwoord? Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

I also bought the 52 and got the 72 for less cost. They basically carry the same as the singi 48 in terms of comfort and all look good. Will use the singi for trekking but the kebs are for when when i get up high in technical stuff and want a cleaner external pack. Well thats my excuse for getting them. Have not told my wife yet!!!! Not brave enough!

What do you recommend for attaching a sleeping roll to the backpack
Hi Mark, Sorry for the late answer 🙃. I would not do it. It makes the backpack very unpractical if you want to put it down. I would connect a closed cell roll to the left or right and leave one pouch at home. Or but it vertical on the back and use a few straps and the loops on the pack. I hope this works out for you. Excellent review! And there's not so many reviews on Singi 48 out there, so thank you for that one! I own Singi Stubben, and I find it is a wonderful backpack for a day hikes or trips.
My biggest concern about Singi 48 is the suspension system, especially concidering warm and summer conditions. Does it provide good airflow? How about sweating? I'm asking, because my next step would be buying around 50l pack, and I'm struggling between Singi 48 (I already have sidepockets from Stubben) and Lundhags Gneik 54. The latter is also fantastic backpack, but the big diffrence is that Gneik 54 has a mesh ventilation system. What do you think? Would Singi 48 be also good during hot summer treks?

Sweety? Ventilation? The backpack sits close to the body and around the shoulders and the hip it touches a large surface. In between there is space for air to flow. But with warm weather you will feel sweaty after a while. I don't mind since I wear merino wool as a on skin layer and that works fine for me in regulating moistere and temperature. Hi, I have a question about back length. I'm 1m82cm and currently using a Karrimor SF Sabre 45. due to the back length being fixed, i notice the Karrimor hip belt is above my hip and not on my hip (so all the weight is on my spine and not divided over spine and hip). Is the Fjallraven singi 48 "taller" in maximum adjusted back length? how tall are you, and does the hipbelt fit as it should? Thanks!!

Hi Marius, It's a bit of a gamble.... It should work but like you wrote: you are on the maximum end. You like the style of the Singi? Otherwise you could go for a bit more volume and a longer back....

Ha Gijs, na het kijken van de video ben ik weer iets wijzer geworden. Twijfel nog tussen de Heb 52 en de Singi 48, maar neig toch naar die tweede (puur de looks eigenlijk). Tof horloge heb je trouwens, we hebben dezelfde ;) Wat anders: hoe zoek jij het avontuur op in Nederland? Zelf ga ik vaak zat de bossen in, maar ik heb moeite met het vinden van plekken waar je bij wijzen van spreken niet met een spijkerbroek en kinderwagen kunt komen. Heb jij nog tips? Laters!
Dag Bob, Dank voor de complimenten. Avontuur in Nederland.... Je wilt een eerlijk antwoord neem ik aan. Nauwelijks helaas. Zeker sinds Covid zijn mensen overal en hebben te veel mensen maling aan fatsoenlijk natuur gedrag. Zakdoekjes die overal liggen... Campings staan vol en wild overnachten mag niet. Beetje depri inderdaad. Natuurlijk zijn er nog mooie plekken waar je lekker kan wandelen en een beetje alleen buitengevoel kan hebben. Het heeft vooral met tijd te maken: 's morgens vroeg op een doordeweekse dag bijvoorbeeld. Waar ik heen ga... deel ik liever niet op social want ik hou het er liever rustig. This pack is waaay too heavy: 2100g / 4.6 lbs. Come on guys, it's 2020! Why would anyone want this when there are alternatives that weigh half as much? I don't get it. No way I'd buy this.
Hi stokedfish, It is heavy and could be lighter but that is not the design filosofie behind the pack. Would I not buy it because of the weight? I don’t think so since I like what is has to offer but for the price I would go for something else.
Weight is definitely a deal breaker for me. I loge the brand though!
