Love the music and the .204 I bought one when they first came on the market you could hardly find ammo and reloading data there was only one powder IMR 4895 which was large sticks for the .204. Then I bought another .204 and another I have owned six and still have five all great shooters.
very nice reloading vid my friend! But just wondering why you trim the brass b4 sizing? full length sizing will stretch the brass a little so it can throw off your trim measurement. As precise as you are in the video, you should trim your brass right after the sizing die....but thats just my opinion....Anyway, great video
Hey, Thanks! It shouldn't be cratering, for some reason my bolt has a small recess around the firing pin, from new it has done this. When i had the barrel changed i spoke to my rifle smith about that, he assured me that its nothing to worry about, it shoots sweet.
I think you mean the Case Neck Reamer, it de-burrs the internal case neck and the pointy bit that goes through the primer pocket make sure it stays true in the neck.
So you trim your brass before you resize it?? That's like putting on your pants before you put on your boxers. In case you don't know when you run your brass through a resizer not only does it squeeze it back to factory spec, but it also stretches it as well. Trim one, resize it and put it back in your trimmer and see.
Hello, love the videos! I'm really interested In the calipers. I've not seen the attachment that so handily holds a cartridge for measure OAL. May I ask where I can get one!
how would you ask for a .204 on a first application for a fire arms certificate ? bear in mind im a gunsmith (army) but never had a fac before , or is it something i should be aiming for once i have secured a certificate first on a .22 for pest control ?
Would it be possible to get an equipment list? Thinking about doing my own reloading also. Looks like you have a simple setup, but very efficient! Might be easy enough for me to figure out :) Thanks
You have a nice reloading setup, Its nice to see other people out there who take the time and do it right. What model .204 are you using, and whats your twist rate on the barrel if you don't mind me asking? I do my own reloading as well. I have a Howa .204 with a 1/12 twist, I really can't find an accurate load for 32 grain ballistic tips, and 40 grain ballistic tips. The ones I've reloaded have no consistency at all, and Ive tried quite a few different powders and grain measurements that I've seen online and in my reloading book. Fortunately I found that my rifle likes 35 grain bullets. Right now im reloading my .204 with hornady brass, 26.6 grains of Benchmark powder, and 35 grain berger hp bullets. Five shots at 100 yards gives me 1/4 -3/8 inch groups. They come out the muzzle at ~3900 fps. If theres not much wind, Ive shot water jugs at 600 yards. It does this consistently if I have my scope doped in correctly. Its an amazing little caliber. The ballistic co efficient on the .20 caliber bullets is the only downside. If its windy at all, they get pushed around all over the place. On the windier days I bring out my 6.5 creedmoor ;)
I like the music but not sure I would like reloading. I appreciate all the work you put in. Sort of like a cook vs the eater, I'm an eater (shooter) not a cook (loader) Looks tedious but maybe therapeutic for some. Also looks to be some substantial start up cost for the equipment and time learning it and loading them. But I'm looking at getting a tikka .204 varmint and wanted to check this video out. I will be shooting factory ammo , have you found a factory load that shoots well?
Mine is a custom 1/10 so home loading was a must. Mine will also shoot the factory Norma's quite well - you then get to have some excellent quality brass
Cody Kasinger great place to start. Has everything you need but your dies. It what I have and I have had zero issues. Have loaded several thousand rounds through it so far. Lee Precision Breech Lock Challenger Kit (Red) www.amazon.com/dp/B003ISVWC6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_7ww8yb79H8DDQ
Thanks. Hmm, you can take it as far as you like. I always think Redding dies are the best, next level is Wilson Dies and a arbor press. I'd say the set up I'm using must be a good few hundred
Hey, i will try that next time, makes sense! I dont actually trim my cases after every firing.... & I dont anneal, its pretty accurate as it is. Do you anneal?
sparkytr it has been mentioned somewhere before. The rifle has made those craters with factory rounds on the primers from new. It's also had a re barrel, and the action trued by a well respected company in the U.K., it still dose it. I've been assured it's nothing to worry about
Do IT!! it might also be worth looking at the .20 tac - Very similar but less powder means its a cheaper calibre to load for. You will have to re-load to get the best from the .20's but it is defiantly worth it!! Erm, there is something left of a Rabbit if head shot, but i dose mess them up. Ive got a .308 too, hopefully get out with that this weekend, got some load testing done
Hmmmmm.... not sure.... next i might go for a 1 in 9 - I have a 1 in 10 twist that is 26" most factory stuff is 1 in 12 which means that it is marginal if it will stable 39grn and up bullets. If you get a .20 cal you will have to load to get the best from it. Have a look at my other vid shooting apples at 400yrds - thats with home loads. Im in Somerset. See if you can get that stalking sorted in Devon and hit some Red's!
Unless you shoot a ton I recommend buying factory ammo for 23.00 box of 50. 1/2 MOA and gives more money and time to shooting. At least for .223 and .204 ammo. Factory stuff so good really can't improve much on accuracy.
Why.... and again Why are you trimming prior to resizing? The brass will stretch in the neck after the resize. you will be times more accurate and able to control pressures better if trimming happens after the case resise. What you are doing is leading people into a false procedure that may end up with an over pressure situation that may damage their firearm or cause personal injury. A case too long may inherently cause the neck to jam into the end of the chamber causing over pressure.... An extremely dangerous situation... just sayin
Man, you have all the gear. Love that polisher. And, despite what Zach said, I think the music was great. Good video, man.
Ha. Thanks! There are still a few things i need to add to the collection. I will do a video soon on the load that i use with the .308

Great video and music to go with it! Thanks for sharing
Yep, You cant beat the classics

That video was therapeutic. Great music loved it

Good music watching reloading progress.
Haha! Glad you enjoyed it! I really like the reloading part of shooting the rifles, especially as you tailor a load to suit your rifle.
Great music and shows the process you use step by step. People who can't appreciate that music are why legal abortions still have an argument.
Hahaha. That is a very valid comment! Cheers for the support
Canned Heat, lovely music, will watch your vid just or that, the reloading is a bonus!
ALWAYS ENJOYED THE DOORS
Hi from France, nice vid, simple and efficient and I can send it on my FB shooters group too .
Very nice songs!
I think you mean the Case Neck Reamer, it de-burrs the internal case neck and the pointy bit that goes through the primer pocket make sure it stays true in the neck.
And decent tunes to boot.
Cheers!
very beautiful video!
Good job on the video mister. Most people dont actually take the time to be that precarious in reloading. Respectful reloading work
Thanks! Well, if you want accuracy you need to be precise. Especially in the small calibers where small percentages can make a big difference.
Great selection of songs, Dusty's version of preacher man was awesome.
Nice job
Nice work! Your reloading bench looks a lot neater and tidier than mine! :-D

Homer Simpson II Haha! Erm, Well ive now actually started to resize then trim, as wearing my boxers over my pants gets a bit uncomfortable ;)
Superman does, so why not you? I joke, of course.
Great music!
Trim after re-sizing, no?
Excellent music...............
Hi great vid spot on keep the vids comein
Yep. New cases are full length, when i get up to 10 firings i tend to full size again
What is that blue spindly thing at 5:04?
MrSottobanco Thats a K&M case neck reamer
Hello, love the videos! I'm really interested In the calipers. I've not seen the attachment that so handily holds a cartridge for measure OAL. May I ask where I can get one!
Nice one dude
Why dont u full length size or neck size brass. Before u put in tumbler? I trim mine once in a while.
Thanks! Dont know really, ive always done it. I will start doing it way tho, makes sense!
how would you ask for a .204 on a first application for a fire arms certificate ? bear in mind im a gunsmith (army) but never had a fac before , or is it something i should be aiming for once i have secured a certificate first on a .22 for pest control ?
What was that weird probe thing that you stuck into the case after cleaning the primer pocket?
Would it be possible to get an equipment list? Thinking about doing my own reloading also. Looks like you have a simple setup, but very efficient! Might be easy enough for me to figure out :) Thanks

Powder type? Bullet type and weight????
Are you kidding? The doors are great.
what powder do you use ?? and projectiles?
I love the 204. What powder were you using?
Its H322
varminteruk I just picked up 2 lbs for that for my 6BR.
varminteruk try reloader 10x 26.5 grns 1.938 ogive
ball park figure for what all the reloading equipment is please? I keep thinking about it
Good soundtrack to Your vid, very Tarantino

Hey, i will try that next time, makes sense! I dont actually trim my cases after every firing.... & I dont anneal, its pretty accurate as it is. Do you anneal?
Do you neck size them only?
Hey, its:
Winchester Brass
Federal Gold Medal Match primers
Sierra Blitzking 39grn
26.2 H322
O-Give of 1.910
My next rifle will be a .204 tikka I think, I can't wait!
well, did you get it?
was curious to know your recipe .... ?????
I just watched this and i'm suprised no one mentioned the signs of excess pressure from the primers.
sparkytr it has been mentioned somewhere before. The rifle has made those craters with factory rounds on the primers from new. It's also had a re barrel, and the action trued by a well respected company in the U.K., it still dose it. I've been assured it's nothing to worry about
Rainy day Reload day.
Do IT!!

Nice vid and great music. You near Nether Stowey?.
Im just the other side of Taunton. Im pretty sure i know who you are thinking of, i have done a fair bit of shooting with him. Are you Somerset based?
Yeah, about 3 mins from Stowey. You thinking of a bloke that's got 'save a cow, eat a vegetarian' on his 4x4?.
Haha, And the 4x4 in question would be Green in color?
You got it :-)
Hmmmmm.... not sure.... next i might go for a 1 in 9 - I have a 1 in 10 twist that is 26" most factory stuff is 1 in 12 which means that it is marginal if it will stable 39grn and up bullets.

Always point that priming tool at your face? Lol
Haha! Thanks :)
Thats averaging 3688fps from a 26" 1 in 10 twist
👍👍👍
You forgot to lube the shells in video

You lost me at trimming brass before resizing and using that cheap ass caliper
Listening to dumbs music when a commentary/explanation of the process would haven SO much more helpful. Disliked
Trimming before resizing is just plain stupid!
