same here. chucks gig in bremen / germany 2007. his mic failed and he still filled the whole place with his voice. one of the best moments in my life. ever!
Some days we're ripped and torn away From the shore and tossed to a watery grave Set adrift in the depths of the drink in the hands of the gods we curse We call for help when no one's around Shot down fleeting thoughts never make a sound Set adrift in the depths of the dark in the heart of the sea where we wish I feel it in my bones when the storm is close Then await for the rain and the wind to blow As dark colors fill the sky I'm drenched I'm feeling so alive Eyes closed tight my ears open for the boat We all carry the tune we love Think of home when the waves and the going get tough Hold our breath and go down with the wish of just one last kiss to rest I feel it in my bones when the storm is close Then await for the rain and the wind to blow As dark colors fill the sky I'm drenched I'm feeling so alive Eyes closed tight my ears open for the boat
I bumped into Chuck outside the HWM gig in Bristol, UK last week. Literally walked in to the venue together, I said hello, shook his hand and told him his music moved me. He smiled and said a simple "thanks man". He'll never read this, but it meant a lot to be able to tell him to his face. Cheers, Chuck.
Sat down for breakfast with Chuck this morning. I ordered the usual 2 eggs, bacon and coffee. Chuck ordered a 2x4 piece of railroad wood topped with gravel and a used motor oil dressing. He washed it down with a barrel of Whiskey.
Wow, came here from an old Brian Fallon acoustic video comment recommendation. Can tell I'm gonna have these guys in my rotation for life. Great music.
yeah i found out about chuck ragan (hot water music) and dave hause (the loved ones) from brian fallon being on the revival tour probably about a decade ago. to be fair i've found a lot of music because of brian fallon and the gaslight anthem. matthew ryan is another i'd highly recommend. brian fallon produced his 2017 record "hustle up starlings", and matthew ryan has opened for gaslight in the past. you can also find a video of them doing a duet of one of matthew ryan's songs "i can't steal you". all are artists i'll probably listen to the rest of my life. i remember learning a chuck ragan song "for broken ears" on guitar years ago. i don't know if i've ever seen someone sing with that intensity coupled with a ruthless strumming. chuck's a legend. in a fair world, he'd be a country music star.
Saw Chuck and the boys open up for Gaslight at the Asbury Summer Stage a few weeks ago. First time seeing him live after listening to him for years. He didn't disappoint, to say the least. His energy was insane. Super nice guy too!!
I was a huge fan of hot water music, I have a poster of them on my wall. and it’s awesome to see that this guy never fell off. The ending of this song is one of the most pretty, emotional things I’ve ever heard.
Brian Fallon talked about Chucks Revival Tour in an interview. I looked up the Tour, dug what I heard and decided to check out Chuck Ragan...damn I waited too damn long. This guy is amazing. I look forward to getting to know his music.
Hearing and watching people that genuinely love what they do is so amazing its so apparent in these guys voices and faces that they f*#$king love music. YUM!
He is amazing. Just be thankful you found him. After much searching (a lot..), I came up with a few more songs that are *hidden* and amazing. As holdingontowater mentioned, check out Rumbleseat. I would look at his album with the Anderson Family Bluegrass (Bedroll Lullaby and Live By the Sword). He played on the album with Austin Lucas as well. Very folk, Very awesome. Greatest artist of this time in my opinion. Happy listening!
I found this video a few days ago, after watching some William Elliott Whitmore videos. Holy crap, these guys are great together, and individually. I have subsequently bought albums from both Chuck and Rocky. I only wish that I'd have heard them sooner. This song is already great but this version is amazing.
It´s the first time I hear this guys. They are awesome. This is the kind of song and interpretation that get´s me really sad. Life is short and ears are tight... there are so many great musicians, music and songs I´m never gonna listen.
rumor has it when you press the dislike button on a chuck ragan video that his fist comes through the screen and gives you an uppercut made to make an MMA guy cry..
I don't think another band could have ever pulled the whole leatherface revival. And the split record you guys made is still amazing. The idea of caught up. Wrong and righteous rebellion. This record turned me on to snuff. And also almost made me give up music entirely. From the very first second I heard wax lyrical I couldn't understand how a guitar made that sound. The perfect crunching melody. And you guys introduced a nation to it or at least my friends and I. Then to find out Frankie was responsible for the likes of hooton 3car. China drum. Don fisher. Broccoli. Just a great story
don't forget to check out rumbleseat as well. it was a small project chuck had going it's pretty much the same stuff as this just some "hidden songs" is I guess what you could call them.
📌subscribe to our channel for new sessions every week. and if you have artists you'd love to see here, send them over :)
Send some Chuck Ragan again! OR ZAZ! hahaha i'd love to see Zaz here!
Came back here after many years. My life looks so different now, still I get goosebumps listening to them, and I remember who I truly am and wanna be.

Chuck gives me goose bumps over and over. Especially this version of the boat. There’s light after a tunnel. I am thankfully. 🍀🤘🏻

That's amazing. Kudos
Still applies and still love this song
Best comment ever, and factual!
Rocky Votolato, Chuck Ragan, Joe Ginsberg & Jon Gaunt... still the best combination!
these are MEN singing their hearts out. none of that autotune nonsense. just men expressing themselves and their vulnerability. so good.
Chuck Regan's voice is like zombie dust. So good.

Damn, this song deserves more Love
Rocky makes this song even better.
Eric Pushman Him and Chuck work incredibly well together. Feel the same about him and Austin Lucas. He keeps good company, musically haha

Chuck Ragan and Rocky Votolato sound great as a duo!!!!
Your music is so good Chuck! From Hot Water Music to this, keep it up brother! Nothing but love from Chicago!
Saw Chuck and the boys open up for Gaslight at the Asbury Summer Stage a few weeks ago. First time seeing him live after listening to him for years. He didn't disappoint, to say the least. His energy was insane. Super nice guy too!!
What a tune. I still come back to this one and it always comes through

This could be what it's always like. That's the most beautiful and also sad part of this. This could just be the norm.
holy shit. have followed chuck from HWM through to now. I am so impressed. I am now in love with a music I never thought I could be. happy days:)
We all carry the tune we love. 🥺

Hot water music was good. This is great.
chucks mic at the hot water music show i was at in january failed and i was still able to hear him no problem.
Reminds me of so much …words can’t ….😢

rocky/ragan is now my otp.
😍
don't forget to check out rumbleseat as well. it was a small project chuck had going it's pretty much the same stuff as this just some "hidden songs" is I guess what you could call them.
Why doesnt he put these songs on albums instead of the studio ones?
I always wonder how Jon Gaunt doesn't get his mighty beard stuck in his violin's strings!
It’s actually his beard that plays the music...
PQP!
So fucking good.
I'M GOING DOWN WITH THE SHIP
Fucking powerful voice
If Macho Man Randy Savage played music
you can take the slim jim out of bradenton
Randy savage actually Released a Rap Album... Its really bad and completely insane
nah, i think most people know how awesome chuck is anyway :)
I thought they said DON'T rocky the boat? You proved them wrong.
Anyone know where to find a hat like the one he's wearing in this?
SirNealio Brixton has hats like this
Holy fucking shit now you've said that, i can't beleive i didnt realise it was matt! arrhgh
I can't understand what is this song about. Some issues with alcohol?
The "other guy" is actually pretty good. Check him out!
