  • Happy new year to everyone who chose january 1st to start measuring earth's laps around the sun. For today I just have another set of montly updates for you! I'm quite happy with all the new stuff I added. Some of the updates add new content, others simply make the world feel more alive.

    Nice job with everything, wouldn't it be interesting to add a goods transport system in the village, something like The Settlers series where the villagers transport materials.🤔

      Happy new year to you too! I'm happy you are such a fan 😍 I've thought about goods transport like that too, but that would require simulating individual units/people. And on a planet where thousands of people could have thousands of little people, that would be a crazy amount of simulation. One of the tradeoffs of having a 1:1 scale planet was to give up individual simulation of units...

    Hi, I’m really loving this game! I had some ideas for how you could perhaps create some diversity and need for trade in the world (though you have probably had some of these ideas yourself lol)
    It would be really cool if there were different food sources that were more practical in different parts of the world, for example if some areas were more fertile, had different climates (and therefore different plants available, colder areas might only be able to grow more hardy crops ie potatoes, or be better off with grazing animals or fishing, while warmer, wetter climates might be able to have grapes (that maybe could be turned into Wine?) and other more exotic plants). It would also be cool if it was possible to refine these resources more (making wine, drying fish and meats (possibly to preserve them better), making fur products etc in the case of plants/animals, and making tools, pottery or exploration equipment). If you also add some resources that are quite rare, ie metals or possibly things related to the lore, so that quite few people have it in their territory, forcing others to trade for it, you might make the world feel more alive. You could also give buffs, for example increased population growth/happiness/productivity or something else for having diverse food sources or other luxuries.
    I also have some ideas regarding trade and the political system. Firstly, I think it should be possible to build roads to other settlements to make trade more effective. It could also be possible to make it so you can give caravans pack animals/equipment to make it more efficient and faster, and also give some advantages for passing through settlements (rest stops), which could make it make more sense to have cities pop up around important trade routes. I also really believe it should be possible to set up private (maybe even repeating) trade deals. I think players should also be able to decide on borders between their settlements if they overlap, and create their own political entities (allianses, countries, trade deals?) in some way. I also feel they should be able to have tolls etc, to maybe create some competition. You could also make it an option for them to have free movement of luxury resources among cities, as I feel the level of complexity and amount of resources i posit could be a bit overwhelming to manage manually.
    Again, I really love this project, and am looking forward to it’s eventual release. I hope this wasn’t too much of an incomprihensible ramble, but this really captured my imagination. I hope you’ll be able to fit some of these ideas within your vision for the game. Best of luck with the development!

      Exactly! I would love to make resources very location specific so there is a reason to specialize, and trade with others as you mention! Trade caravans won't be simulated individually tho. Political alliances are also planned with for example trade benefits 💪
