That Don’t be happy MV was a redo of their original MV. It was an introductory video. It was a nostalgic remake of the original. Moomoos lost their minds when we saw the remake.
@@tdragonreactions Yes several articles were calling them that as they sounded like professionals with several years of experience singing live on music shows when no one else does that really. And then they won several awards as rookie of the year. And they were a nobody at that time from a startup company. HAHAHAH for real with the "waahhh" 🤣
If I remember correctly, one of the reasons their early choreographies were fairly simple, is because the company couldn't afford a choreographer, and they then had to choreograph their own dances. I might be wrong, but I feel like I have heard that somewhere. If any MooMoo could confirm or deny, that would be great. But as a result of the simple choreos, they were able to show off their amazing vocals, since they weren't making crazy moves all over the place, and didn't get as out of breath.
U R correct, they had to do their own choreos at the beginning. Some say up until Gogobebe era but by that time they were successful enough to hire choreographers and they did. But i think it is incredible how far they have come without the money and support big companies can offer, definitely self-made stars.
you r correct... the company was so broke that they promoted themselves through busking...they also created their own music...unlike black pink who had everything produced for them
Mamamoo often does their choreography on stage like they sing their songs. They change things up to surprise the audience and each other. At their first appearance on Immortal Songs, the senior artists watching from the waiting room praised them on how they moved so freely on stage, not like a typical idol group doing rigid choreography. I feel like there are complexities in their choreography, without it being too vigorous. Mamamoo uses choreography to support their singing performance while many groups use singing to support their dance performance. There is mothing wrong with either approach, but I prefer Mamamoo's style.
What I love about Mamamoo (besides everything 😂) is that they focus on their vocals. Back in this era, their choreo was very simple since they were choreographing themselves. But that really allowed for them to put their energy into their singing. But even now, they will still favor their vocals over the choreo, even though their choreo is much more intense. If they have a belt note or a complicated rap line, they will pause their dance to deliver better vocals rather than pushing through the dance and letting the backing track carry the line. No shade to the groups that do that, since I’m sure that’s a decision made for them by their companies. But while the choreo is always cool to see live, I feel like the performances that will always impress the most are the ones where the idols and show their vocal talents foremost. And from day one, Mamamoo had consistently showcased their vocals. It’s one of the many things that sets them apart from the rest of K-pop.
I feel the same way. No hate for other groups, in fact, I loved seeing choreo from BTS for example or Lisa from BP. MMM is just in a different class and they own it. 🔥❤️
I can never get enough Mamamoo and I'm enjoying your reactions and comments to them. Already looking forward to your next Mamamoo reaction. Go through their discography in any order you want, cause it's all amazing and there's plenty of it.
Mamamoo pre-debut songs are timeless! Personally I liked the 2021 version because Moonbyul get to include her rap parts where she usually do during their live performances. Don't worry, we will wait for your next mamamoo reactions. It's been fun so far. I like how you do the live performances too because almost all the time their live are better than the studio version. Oeh Pepermint chocolate a song by K.Will and Mamamoo with Wheesung featuring in it, K.Will is another incredible artist with such a smooth voice and he and Deasung, resemble each other especially in the early days this got mentioned alot back then and they got mistaken for one another too.. pepermint chocolate is their second pre debute colaberation song it's such a adorable song with a nice melody, The song is about a new couple wanting to keep things cool but also sweet like peppermint chocolate, love seeing other kpop idols show up in mv's, "n and hongbin from VIXX", they look so innocent still because they didn't have a concept yet, but look seeing that it's also when the company told Hwasa not to do anything with her hair and she decided to cut it short 😂 just love her.. she mentioned this on a program she said it was before their debut and they had their first performance with a collaborating artist so I think it was around this time haha.. Don't Be Happy" is with Bumkey 😊 and was their fist pre debute colaberation song.❤ 🙌 I really love this song.. like both versions 😊 Thank you T for another amazing video, until next time 😘
No wonder Quincy Jones said they are amazing when he heard them before their debut. Feels nostalgic watching these old videos. 😅 7:5411:50 the early days of flirting with each other on stage.🤣 The 'Don't be happy' song is a masterpiece, honestly. I know I'm biased but still. Your facial expressions say it all. 20:22 the new version hit so hard with their visuals too. Also, because of red hair Wheein I literally lost years of my life. 🥵
@@tdragonreactions Oh don't get me started with her dimples. Even the members joked about that many times.😅 Yeah. I agree they're the most versatile Kpop group, probably. Her new song is coming in February, btw, just like Moon's first full album. My bank account is pretty much died in agony, every fave of mine will release a new album in February.🤣
Love both songs and they're still among my favorites. I got into MMM in 2016 and they've always been two of the songs I listen to most often in between comebacks. Even pre-debut their soulful singing and mature musical style set them apart from the girl groups whose music matched some variation on cute, innocent, sexy or girl crush group concepts. Not that there's anything wrong with those concepts but I think there was always a sense that Mamamoo was charting a different path and carving out their own niche based primarily on their vocal talent, team chemistry and charisma rather than things like visuals, group image or dance skills. In their early days RBW couldn't afford to promote them very much or hire a choreographer so the girls busked on the streets and did their own choreo, which they kept simple so they could sing well while using hand mics. From those old live clips you could see that right from the beginning they focused on vocals, audience interaction and playfulness on stage rather than perfect, knife-like choreo. Not that they can't dance well, despite what some people claim, but they've always had other priorities and a different performance philosophy than most other groups. There's no right or wrong approach and I enjoy them both but my personal preference is Mamamoo's old school entertainer style because of their thrilling live vocals and unpredictable antics on stage. Enjoy your radish journey! They're serious artists who don't take themselves too seriously and I think their many dualities including fierce vs adorable make them one of kpop's most fascinating and talented groups..
Very well thought and worded comment. I can not agree with you more. There is one thing though, I love to watch the so called shipping videos of them. Not for the usual reason, but because it shows so many really cute moments and actions between this wonderful family of beautiful girls. And it is clear they are having so much fun. I agree with your thoughts: (1) they do sound more mature predebut. I think its mainly because they started older compared to the norm. im excited for you to see how they evolve vocally. (2) yes, same! i like their simple or not overly complicated Peppermint Chocolate choreo. it still worked well. and also because that way they can prioritize/showcase their live vocals more and we could actually pay attention to it. though they still moved around, i respect them for maintaining a stable voice. anyway, i enjoyed this reaction video! we understand that life happens, so as always, take your time! we'll be here. remember to stay healthy and happy!
Now that I've seen a handful of their choreos I honestly don't see how it's "simple". They are dancing in heels, constantly moving and transitioning, and they do all of that while killing it with their vocals. I think those comments were driven by jealousy tbh. Oh and thank you! I was burning myself out and I needed to give myself some time to breathe! ❤️
