    Imo, the Flip 4 sounds a bit more harsh and "in your face", while the Anker has a softer, more natural tuning. Yes, it lacks a bit of treble, but this could easily be fixed with a free equalizer app. Overall, I think the Anker wins in every category!!

      Fully agree. The fabric cover on the flip 4 is so non-dense (dont know how else to say it) that the air flows faster making the "in your face" sound

    The JBL clearly sounds better. However, it's also 3x the price in the UK. Which is just crazy. Well done Anker for providing the market with some viable competition, and showing it's not all about brand!!

      It's less than double in Canada. And personally I like the sound of the anker better

  • @mandaf2630
    @mandaf2630 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I'd go to the anker. The anker has a balance and detail sound althought little bit muffled (influenced by the cover). If you feel the treble less sounding, you can use the equalizer in your phone to increase the treble. The balanced frequencies make easier to modified the output sound on the anker boost with the equalizer apps in your phone.

    I have both he JBL Flip 4 and the Anker SoundCore Boost and the Anker sounds much better in person and so does the JBL. The Anker’s mids and highs are definitely there (in person) they are just a little softer than the JBL. And the JBL’s highs do not sound quite so harsh in person. They are both very good speakers. For those that have the Boost, try turning on the EQ in Settings in your iPod/iPhone to Bass Reducer and then try using the BassUp feature. It will get get rid of the boomy sounding frequencies but still leave you with a very nice low end bump; it sounds really good this way.

    • @lateralus9244
      @lateralus9244 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The JBL is a little louder but the highs and mids do get a little harsher as you push it into the higher volume levels. It's still a great speaker though. I would say that I like the Anker a little better when I set it up with my iPod with the way I described above and when I don't need a speaker that pairs with others.

    Hi! Please advise whether it makes sense to switch from flip 4 to anker soundcore boost? I met a lot of reviews that the bass is cooler on anker. It's strange, because the lower limit is 70Hz there and there. So what is really the case? By the way, does soundcore lose out to Flip 4 in terms of sound purity, or is it on par? Thanks in advance for your answers. )

    5001 subs now :) These Anker tests have brought me over to your channel the last few days so I figured I'd better subscribe. btw I like the JBL here, it sounded more refined. Its good that Anker put a button to toggle between the bassup on/off. I have the Soundcore Pro which I'm returning because of the farting bass (and some other issues like the rattling and quiet volume) in a few songs and you can not disable the bassup on the pro. The Boost is a little covered sounding for me, I'll play with the EQ on my phone and try to increase the mids and treble a little when my Boost arrives tomorrow! If that can work out this will be the greatest speaker for the price category.

    • @speakertoni2680
      @speakertoni2680  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @mariobondanza5149

      bear123, I suggest you to try the Onkyo HF app, for me it's really the one and only.

    • @practicalguy973
      @practicalguy973 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the suggestion. I've been using the Onkyo HF app also over a year now. Its rock solid stable and easy to make and save playlists which is a must for me. Been using it to play Flac also because the stock app won't play it. My phone down-samples the Flac files anyway, but at least I dont have to convert them to mp3, saves me time not having to make mp3 files at least. I have some EQ profiles setup for the Anker Pro but no matter what I do the bassup DSP seems to try and fill it in. I'm hoping the Soundcore Boost with a little EQ in the mids and treble will be perfect for me!

      bear123 I suspected that there will be some kond of difference between listening music from the speaker live vs over headphones. I plan on buying one of ankers speakers, but I can't decide of I want portability, toughness or sound quality.
      But thank you for indepth explanation, those EQ presets will definitely come in handy.
      Cheers

  • @Mithadon
    @Mithadon 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    For me, if the price was the same, I'd probably go with the Anker because of the bass and overall design, but it would be a tough choice. The Flip just sounds amazing on the higher end.
    Thing is, the Flip is waaaay more expensive anyway, so... I'm unlikely to ever use the speaker near max volume, so I'm sure balancing it out myself will make the Anker just right. I hope :p
    Anyway, fantastic review. Thank you, Speaker Toni :)

    • @eggy8877
      @eggy8877 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a flip 4 and I'm interested in getting the anker. I've had the flip 4 for exactly a year and I use it on max volume lots. I havent noticed any issues with it so far except maybe it sounds a little less rich now if that makes sense. But it can definitely handle being at high volumes for long periods of time

  • @DrummingMan1
    @DrummingMan1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Congratulations speaker Tony! 5K subs eight no small feat! Honestly sir, to My Golden ears, the sound core boost is cut off at about 10K! For me, it was like listing to music with ear plugs in! The JBL seems more refined!

  • @capyboppy
    @capyboppy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Should be interesting. I have the Soundcore 2 arriving tomorrow (purchased after buying the pocket). Listened to the Flip 4 in Currys yesterday and although I liked it, the bass was far too much for many tracks. If you like thumping rock music then it is probably ideal.
    There are two things people need to remember. The sound is never going to be the same on TH-cam as it is in real life. My Anker pocket sounds fat far better in real life than both of these on TH-cam. Also that preference of sound is very subjective. I went out yesterday specially to listen to the Bose SoundLink mini and it was nothing special; but others love it. Just go by your own ears.

    I think Anker is best speaker for someone who is looking for Bass under 100$. it lacks a bit of treble and sounds a bit muffled because of that. but I prefer the JBL flip 4 because it has more clarity, more balanced and also good bass, although it is a bit harsh at max volume..

    • @Mithadon
      @Mithadon 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hear you and mostly agree, but I worry because the Flip seems way too weak on the bass. Anyway, I 'would' worry, but the SoundCore is literally 50$ less here, so it's a no-brainer now!

      Yeah the restriction on the fabric cover of the anker dampens the harshness at high volumes. And you can change eq settings to bring back that treble

    I might have been just convinced to buy the anker, even though I didnt think it sounded better. The bass up feature for outdoor / party or quiet use is too good of a feature and I enjoyed the anker premium, so if it is a better version of that...
    The jbl flip 4's treble sounds good when reduced the way clavinet junkie put in the fabric to balance it better.
    Does the bass reach deeper than the original?

    • @speakertoni2680
      @speakertoni2680  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      John G yes the bass should reach a bit deeper but don't buy it now!

      The aukey sounds thin, the Anker boost with its base up and everything totally outperforms the aukey.

      The flip 4 also has a higher bass mode but u cant use it at high volumes or the radiators will either hit the components on the inside of the speaker or rip the rubber holding them on. About 75% volume is great
