Thank you for this! My dog is elderly and has trouble getting on my deck. This will definitely help him!

Good one! I grew up by my Dad's side as he made DIY repairs because we could have never afforded to pay someone to do the work but he still wanted to improve our home. I learned all about tools and methods from him. I love seeing your children there with you. Even if the girls never have to pick up a hammer, they know what it takes to do DIY and the tools to use. That is a lifetime treasure they already have from you. I raised my stepson the same way. I told him that I hope he can always pay someone else and he at least knows what the work actually takes and what it is worth. Not surprisingly, he prefers to DIY things that he can do with the tools he has. Thank you for keeping this a family friendly channel!

Nice job, super simple, but adding that one step makes a huge difference with your deck. Keep up the great work inspiring other. 👍🏼

Great video man this is exactly what I needed for the patio entrance in our house we just got. Love the impending doom shirt too

With certain projects, I definitely need to get better at making the installation process a part of my assembly process (I.e. securing the back board to structure, then attaching the step unit. I think there are many opportunities to do this but I end up try to attach it assembled with bad angles on screw heads. This will help me to think these things through more often. Thanks. Really like your channel.

Thank you! Sometimes it pays off thinking ahead but sometimes… that becomes a headache .

@@BOCraftsman Absolutely! I think in this case it’s my lack of carpentry/woodworking experience. I’m actually known as an “over-thinker”. You know the type. Spend a week planning something that takes 1 1/2hrs to build. 😆😂

What is the size of the wood that you start with?

For those of us with no real carpentry experience, what size wood is good to use for a step? In this video did you use a 2x4 or 2x6? Also can it be cut with a handheld circular saw? I don’t have the saw you used in this video.
    Thanks!!

Looks great! We're renting a house and the front door entrance definitely needs a step. I think this would be perfect...but I need it to be temporary, so I wouldn't attach it to the house. Do you think that would work? I don't have those electric saws...it would be hard work, but I'm sure I could do it by hand. Lol.

I think it would work. You might be able to have lowes or Home Depot cut the boards for you.

Love this. Wouldn't it have been easier to leave the front off and mount?

For the support board in the middle, in the video you mention that it is secured from the front, and then wait to screw it in on the back. In the video it doesn't look like the middle support was attached to the back. Is that correct? Thanks.
