I have been traveling across country a lot due to a family emergency and one thing I have started to pack is a little bag that I keep by my bed that has all of the things I like to use before/at bedtime: hand lotion, ear plugs, and eye mask. Everything is in a pretty pencil case that my daughter gave me as a gfit. This has been such a comforting and useful thing to have!
Loved the video. My tip is to pack a separate lightweight pouch or small bag (I used a small packing cube) for use while seated on the plan as your carry on luggage will be in the overhead storage. I include my Kindle, phone, earphones, charger cable, lip balm, moisturiser, protein bar, tissues and reading glasses. For long haul flight I include ear plugs too. I put this pouch into seat storage under the tray table, so I can access all these little things without opening my main bag each time.
I fly long haul often and I do this too. I put the packing cube in a gallon ziploc bag before I put it in the seat pocket because those seat pockets aren’t clean.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😂😂😂😂 I thought it was common sense to keep your essentials in your lap so you don't have to get up and get shit out of your suitcase every time, mid flight. Shouldn't this be common sense? Is common sense common anymore!?
i love the idea of taking photos of outfits! makes getting dressed a quicker process while travelling! i also love the 20-20 rule, i will keep that in mind!
Great video, Ashlynne!! One of my travel hacks that I discovered I expectedly are using vacuum sealing clothing bags I found at the dollar tree. Last month, I visited family in Ohio. I was traveling from Florida, and was flying Frontier. I only brought a backpack because I was only there for 2 days. My family surprised me with a bridal shower and I received tons of clothes and pjs. I was not expecting that at all!! I’m so grateful but I was freaking out on how I could travel with all of it. My mom bought the vacuum sealed bag and it fit all my stuff in my backpack. I was shocked! Of course, I don’t do this all the time but in a pinch I thought I’d let someone know! 🥰
An essential that I always pack is a plastic bag for my dirty laundry. I don't like the cotton laundry bags because they can transfer the smell of my stinky socks to my clean clothes :D Therefore I use plastic. I do reuse the bag later on, of course :-)
Quick tip about the water bottle: it doesn’t have to be empty to go through TSA security-it just can’t be liquid. So I like to fill it half way and freeze it beforehand. This way when I refill past security, I have ice cold water. 😊
@@kibbylollabee1259 it only has to be frozen when you get to security-how long do you spend at the airport before that? And you can always pour out the little bit that has defrosted in the meantime-and if you think it’s going to be a long time between your freezer and security, you can always fill and freeze the whole bottle and just have more to pour out. Also-if you’re traveling with small children, you can get all sorts of liquids through security (yogurt, juice, water, milk, etc).
If traveling to another country, consider bringing a water filtering bottle or system. Life Straw is probably the most common/ easily accessible and they make fillable bottles now but there are a lot of options. I've heard some stories about some places, and its better than having to buy bottled water constantly.
These are all excellent tips! 😁❤️ For the capsule wardrobe, I pack at least one scarf/wrap/Turkish towel/Pashmina along with jewelry (which don't take up much room or weigh a lot) to pull all of those outfits together. I especially like your tip of a "before walking out the door" checklist. 😁
I feel like using packing cubes saved my life, I usually travel to colder places so I have clothes that take a lot of space and when I’m using the packing cubes everything is so much easier
Comfy, one pallete, multiple shoes, eye mask, brick fold, packing list, layout flat first, adapter, cosmetics case, little bags for order, pack from biggest to smallestest, spinners on lugg, pack snack, bring water bottle, download entertain, bring pen, small bag for document, before walking out door checklist, pass, AirPods, documents, wallet, phone, medication,
I love your tips! I always reuse clothes, like 1 pair of jean shorts that I’ll use with a few tank tops (packing for warmer locations), and wash clothes while traveling too. It’s so helpful! Also, I love wearing comfy clothes for travel too, it just feels better! My husband and I are taking a 3 day trip to Florida soon, and my goal is to get us both into one carry on bag 🤭 Wish me luck, because he’s the heavy packer lol!
Love this video and your channel! I have always traveled light when I was single. After having 2 kids, the early years came with a lot of necessary gear. Now that they are slightly older, trying to travel more minimally again.
Not nessesarily a packing tip, but a travel tip is to bring earplugs. Not just for the flight, but for sleeping. Wether you're in a hotel or camping, you never know who your neighbours are, plus it's an easy way to retreat if you feel your senses are overwhelmed.
The one thing I always do is to print/copy itineraries, reservations, passport, insurance, driver's license, and phone numbers for bank, credit cards, and phone company. If your phone gets damaged and all your stuff is on it - you're in serious doo-doo! A hard copy can be slipped into handheld luggage and has saved my bacon more than once!
I like to travel during summer bc it’s usually quite warm so I can pack thinner/smaller clothes. I pack 5 shirts (3 spaghetti strap vests and 2 shirts that double as pyjamas and day shirts), 2 denim shorts and 2 leggings (can be worn as pyjamas, with shorts or stand alone), 7 pairs of underwear, 7 pairs of socks for, 2-3 flannels and wear a hoodie tied around my chest and do laundry after I wear my clothes and hang them to dry. I live in the uk so weather can be unpredictable and the hotel rooms get very hot in summer so they usually dry within a day or two
Watching this while prepping for a Thanksgiving vacation to see my partners family! My favorite packing tip comes from the backpacking/camping world, and it's stuffsacks :) I have one from Sea to Summit that compresses to the size of a football, and in it currently I have 2 sweaters, a skirt, a flannel, and a light cardigan. I'm bringing a second one as well for my dirty laundry! I also never skimp on socks and underwear- I always bring at least one extra pair of each.
I like the brick folding method. I do use it. I can get so much more in my carry on. We are going to London, Paris and Barcelona them hopping on a ship to come back to FL. 5 stops before we head across the ocean. It will be a very long trip. Thanks for sharing.
I always keep Vacuum sealed bags and 1 gallon zip close plastic bags in the front zipper of my carry on. I use the vacuum seal to keep all my bulk things contained and a plastic zip bag/ziplock as a “dirty hamper” until next wash/damp swim suit storeage if bouncing around a lot. Either take up minimal space so if not used no problem!
Folding all the same size. I never thought of doing that. I use compression bags that work great, but I’m sure that if I fold everything the same size it will be a more effective packing.
Brilliant. Thank you young lady, you've saved my day and my overloaded suitcase 🤦♀ I didn't know what the sipped compartment in the suitcase was for, but now I can pack things more neatly in there and zip to keep it from shuffling around. Fantastic! I could give you a hug.
thank you :) inspiring as usual. the tip of keeping the small toiletry bag adapted for those travelling regularly is a great one and all the rest of course :) i keep all my documents in a tiny pochette too and all by categories in small tote bags that i use to do categories :) wishing you a great weekend :)
Headed to Alaska for Christmas 😳 I’m getting some vacuum seal bags with a rechargeable hand held vacuum. I’m good with versatile. Black/Grey wee pops of colors. Laundry strips 😉 I’ll probably re watch this before I pack 😆😆😆😆

I saw on another video someone pouring shampoo onto a plate letting it dehydrate in size and then put into small a container and then you have concentrated shampoo.... alternative when I go on long trips I take things in tiny ziplocks e.g. face cream. I love how Ashlynn had her dirty laundry folded as neatly as her clean clothes. Much respect for her clothing, and space saving too.
