      McEnroe involved in anything and I'm walking the other way. The number of events umpires should have tossed him out and/or fined him for "unsportsmanlike conduct" ...would NEVER have even considered his name for ANY "hall of fame". The guy is a disgusting dweeb. Even his commentary stints are negative and miserable. It appears management thinks this sells.

    This interview confirms why I love watching Wimbledon with John as a commentator. Never a dull moment!

    • @jaym8094
      @jaym8094 ปีที่แล้ว

      As commentator, he never shuts up, talks over the matches, can't even hear the game being played, what the players might be yelling etc., because McEnroe won't shut up, he ruins the matches! I've been following the men's tour since the McEnroe days, was in the arenas, watched him play some of his live. Now at home, we want to hear the game being played, not McEnroe yapping the entire time, he thinks he's the main show, he's actually quite rude.
      Should be a rule that ALL commentators do NOT talk during match play, only during the player's breaks. When at a match live in the arena, everyone is hushed, to be quiet to hear match play, but when we stream live at home on the computer, we're subjected to the gosh awful commentators, who overtalk the matches and ruin them, why are they even there?
      We actually end up muting the match just to shut the commentator up, McEnroe is one of the worst, but then we can't hear the match at all. Have no idea why there ARE commentators, why can't we just watch the matches live stream as if we're in the arena watching them, that's QUIET. We don't need a play to play on what's happening, because we're watching it!

    Never played tennis once in my life, handful of years younger than John, but always watched matches on TV and for this reason, guys and gals who made it great. It was the characters, the once in a generation future hall of famers and legends. Like the Williams sisters, changed women's tennis and got bitter attention a lot of times.

    Mac is right about the doctor's. I actually blew out my left Achilles playing that damn sport. Many other players had suffered injuries.
    The game itself puts you in an unorthodox position that is ripe for injury.
    That plastic ball skips lower and teases you to go down and get it.
    Don't!
    Play relaxed and let the ball come to you. If not let it go by. Not worth ripping something.

    The first thing I ever thought when I saw a pickleball game and every old person playing it bending real low at the waist, is that "old guys are going to get hurt." As a long-time tennis player, I never pull muscles. My 6th time on a pickleball court, I took a few small steps forward and bent low and ripped my right calf muscle, grade 2, (bending low, of course,) and was out 10 weeks doing PT until it healed. My doctor said his office is packed with pickleball injuries, from the great number of non-athletes playing it. Didn't surprise me one bit. And actually, my prediction about injury came true for me. After I returned, (to the tennis court, not pickleball,) I gave away all my pickleball stuff and never played again. I don't miss bending at the waist for balls that bounce 2" off the ground. I agree with John, the game is limited, compared to tennis, as an athletic endeavor.
