I'm seeing Roddick and Sharapova. McEnroe vs Agassi? I'm loving see all my old tennis friends! I have to play pickleball. I'm bugging my friend at work if I didn't have to work I'd be hanging out at courts not to be weird haha.
I admit I have not warmed up to this game (I understand it is more fun to play than watch), but I have to say I was inching my way up on the edge of my couch, caught myself saying “Wait, what are you doing? This game is silly!” Ok ok, I admit this match made me a fan! In other matches Ive seen between tennis legends it seems like they are just goofin. But these guys were showing a bit of the old fire of days of yor and mini flashes of the best hands in tennis vs the best passing shot in tennis. Mac is always a hoot, but he was actually serious and I think Andre became serious too lol. Its good to see these guys being able at these ages to get out and find a little gem of a game. It cannot fill the tennis glory days, but it can fill a need that all athletes need: competition and striving to be better and better.
I think they should team up to play on the same doubles team against a team of retired ping pong champions. Pickle ball is right in the middle so that could actually be really competitive.
I was confused by that too. McEnroe served up 14-13 (at 12:24 in the video) and lost that point, but when Agassi served the next point, the score was still 13-14 instead of 14-14.
He has 60 titles and has been the #1 player in the world. He honestly doesn’t care about his gut and neither would I…that said, it would be awesome if he did lose the gut and play the senior tour….
I love playing Pickleball but even former tennis idols look silly as I watch them play. I just don’t think PB is a spectator sport; none of the grace or poetry of tennis. The announcers especially sound hyperbolic trying to make it seem interesting. 😂
